This is a nice hike to a great view of the valley. It is all uphill but it is short. It is a popular trail, so go early to avoid the crowds. If you continue on you about a half a mile get a great view of the upper Yosemite falls. If you plan on going to the top of the fall, be prepared it is a tough hike.

this was a hard trail but so worth it. nothing but stairs at an incline from the start. must use a walking stick. had sand on rocky stairs. had two hard parts 1. walk on snow at an incline and 2. a very narrow incline one foot step on edge of cliff over a log. but soooo worth it.

It’s a short but intense hike on the way up it’s very steep and on the way down it’s slippery on the rocks. Overall it’s a very rewarding view would definitely recommend!

It’s a tough trail but at least it’s only a mile up. Plenty of people on the trail. We got to the top by around noon and it seemed like the masses came pouring in on our way down. There were kids on the trail and several parents backpacking their babies up. I’m 20 weeks pregnant and managed it but I hike regularly, so definitely assess your fitness level prior. The rocks on the way down were a bit slippery. I only used trekking poles for the way down. They aren’t necessary but I appreciated the added stability.

Beautiful views. Steep with a lot of switch backs but pretty easy and short! We had a big group so we stopped to take a lot of photos.

This trail is rocky, uphill, with lots of switchbacks. You get beautiful views of Yosemite Valley and Half Dome. There is a railing at the Columbia Rock to look out at the view. The trail continues for about 1.5 miles after the rock to the top.

HikingGreat!

This trail was by far the most difficult trail my husband I have ever done, however, we aren’t experts. I will say the views along the way are breathtaking! All of the switchbacks make you work for it though! We went February 24, and there was no snow obstructions.

The trail starts with a series of switchbacks which help you gain elevation. After the switchbacks you will walk for a bit then the switch backs start again until you reach the Columbia Rock viewpoint. The view from here is amazing and worth the hike. I would suggest you keep continuing on the trail where there is minimum uphill and some downhill until you reach the Yosemite upper falls viewpoint. The views from here more than justify this part of the hike. This part of the trail has some snow on the trail(traction device recommended, not necessary). The trail as of Feb 2021 has a tree obstructing the path. I suggest going under the tree to reach the upper falls view point. I would suggest continuing the hike after the viewpoint only with hiking poles and traction devices to your shoes. As of the Feb 2021 the path from here is full of snow and is quite risky.

HikingGreat!

No snow on the trail. Not a ton of shade further up the trail. Was glad to have a hat for sun protection. Poles on the way down are really helpful, no matter your fitness level. There are a lot of worn, smooth rocks that are slippery.

HikingGreat!

Hiked this trail in February 2021, after sunset. This was great : nice views of the valley and Yosemite Falls. I went by Columbia Rock and I kept on walking until the bottom of the fall. It was beautiful. It was challenging because of the snow but you will enjoy it !
