Easy, paved trail with great views but in the Fall the upper and lower falls are dry. Still great views.

if you're like me-- born and raised in the NJ watershed and New Orleans (6 feet BELOW sealevel)-- this is some serious elevation, as is all of Mammoth Mountain-- take. your. time. this is an easy trail, but it is not easy for those of us who are used to being at or below sea level. it will be frustrating to pace yourself, especially if you're athletic with hiking experience, but the top of the glacier-polished postpile is breathtaking-- I wish the photos I took could do it justice. for sea-levelers, I recommend walking to Rainbow Falls first, taking a 15 minute break, then moving toward the top of the postpile. The glacier-striated hexagonal columnar basalt up there looks like a damn-near perfect tile patio job. try to be on top of the postpile around golden hour-- real treat.

Great moderately difficult hike with some of the best views on the park and only about an hour round trip.

Ferry good hike. What a view! You can see the Half Dome, el Capitain and more. At 14:00 not so many people.

on Sentinel Dome Trail

This is not a strenuous hike but it is absolutely beautiful. We were recommended to hike this Trail by an amazing Ranger Sierra. There are 360 degree views of the park and much fewer crowds then going up to Glacier Point. There's a nice little side Trail right before you get to the Dome that has some great photo opportunities as well.

Best hike to get an incredible 360 view of Yosemite. At 8,000 feet up you can see everything! But stay hydrated for the altitude change. Incredible view of El Capitan, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls (when flowing), Vernell and Nevada Falls, etc. Most awe-inspiring view I’ve ever seen!

Nice and short hike. 1.1 miles to the top of Sentinel Dome from the trail head, 2.2 miles round trip. Easy hike, and not as crowded or busy as the trails done in the valley. The 360 view at the top of the Dome down to Yosemite valley is awesome and worth the hike.

I walked this one mile totally flat loop in the second part of August. The sun was relentless; sun protection (sunscreen and hat) will help if you are spending a bit of time to visit the area (especially if you extend your stroll to Navy Beach).

The Tufa formations are very scenic and photogenic; the lake in the background and the Sierra Nevada on the horizon do not hurt either. This is a short detour (10 minute drive from 395 and anywhere betwen 30mn and a couple hours for the visit) from Lee Vining, or just from the Tioga Pass road if you go over the Sierras that way.

There was volunteer at the "beach" on that day showing us the single noticeable organism living in the very salty lake: the Brine Shrimp; hardly bigger than a horse hair...

The unusual / unique nature of the Tufa towers, the ease of access and the great photo opportunities make this a no-brainer to put on your list when nearby.

Very easy paved trail. BEAUTIFUL and not crowded early in the day.

This is a short hike but it’s great to get out of the car and stretch your legs after a long drive because it’s the first waterfall you come to in Yosemite Valley. Parking is hard because the lot is small and summers get very crowded, so be patient. The trail can get crowded too, but there is bathrooms at the trailhead, misty conditions if the falls are full, and good photo ops.

Well worth the detour from Yosemite. The tufa towers are quite impressive and the lake itself is pretty too.

Great views and easy for beginners.

Amazing. A short walk turned into rock hiking up to the base of the falls and swimming in refreshing water (cold!!). Wife and two kids climbed the rocks. Very slippery, use caution. Barefoot on the way down was much easier.

Short, easy and pretty. But also unbelievably crowded with many people being their most annoying selves, showing absolutely no regard for anyone or anything else, just so they have the "perfect" Instagram picture...

As far as reward to effort ratio goes, you can't get much better than this. The walk from the parking lot to the viewpoints is short, paved, mostly flat and, understandably, pretty crowded. Actually, just finding parking space can be quite tricky. The views of the valley and especially the Half Dome are absolutely stunning though and I really can't recommend this highly enough.

Beautiful falls that are perhaps too close to the road. There are just too many people everywhere, scrambling on the rocks, screaming on top of their lungs and in general exhibiting the sort of "crowd behavior" that one would expect to see at an amusement park rather than in nature.
That said, it is definitely wort stopping by if you're driving past.

Pay at the parking lot. Dirt road driving in but regular car ok. Dogs allowed in on leash. No muzzle needed. Dogs are allowed here and Navy Beach on this dude. Technically they can step in the water but I wouldn't recommend it as they might drink the water which is hella salty. Beautiful formations. Nice stroll out to the formations. Lots of sea bugs.

Cool little loop to see this amazing monument. We got off at Shuttle stop #6 and you can continue onto Rainbow Falls at the tail end of the loop. Steep incline to the top but if that's a problem you can just view it from below which is the main focus anyway. Air quality was fine despite the fires but it was dry, hot and windy so bring enough water.

This might well be the most beautiful view I have ever seen. If you can walk up an incline, hike this trail before you die.

Best view of Yosemite falls in the park IMO

Great easy hike! Paved the whole way. Did this hike with a large group with an age range from 3 months old (in a stroller) up to 82 years old. We came in a dry season, so we were able to climb around the boulders below the falls to get pretty close to the falls.

Short, paved trail with lots of people. Takes maybe 10-15 minutes to make the bottom of the waterfall from the parking lot. Well worth the stop.

Do yourself a favor, take the bus to Glacier Point and hike all the way back down to the valley. You can hit up Nevada and Vernal falls on the way down, plus a bonus of crossing over Illilouette falls on the way to Nevada. This hike is for the most part all down hill, so for those who find going up the trail to Vernal and Nevada, this will be much more doable. The views are spectacular!

We got in past the station before 7, and it was worth it. We could explore at our own pace and brought the dog (we didn’t have a muzzle for the shuttle). The monument is so unique, super easy, and surrounded by great views.

This hike was surprisingly beautiful and away from the crowds. We went to watch the sunset & star gaze. There were a handful of people there, but we were alone not long after the sun started going down. Not a very difficult hike for someone in average shape. Very short & not too much of an uphill climb. Definitely suggest passing the general parking area for the trail and continuing down the road just a bit until you get to a service road on the left hand side. There is a small parking area directly across the street. You can hike this service road right up to the trail which will cut a good portion of the distance off of your hike:-) The 360 degree view of Yosemite is well worth it! Just stunning!

Wonderful gentle stroll with plenty of side paths to take for bouldering. Easy path to take for people who aren't certain they want to venture out too much. Nice start to the day for people who have bigger plans.

Great little walk for an amazing view of Half Dome and the valley floor.

Great little hike! Pretty leisurely most of the way, the last little stretch is more difficult because it gets really steep but that only lasts a couple minutes while you get to the summit.

Great views. It’s a great trail of you are a little short on time. It’s not as crowded as the trails from the valley floor.

Amazing views!
