Lots of snow but beautiful views!

Beautiful lake. Calm, isolated feel. Not a lot to see along the way.

Amazing. We saw it in the snow. It was a winter wonderland in September.

Well worth the time. When you get to the falls and start to go down, the easier path goes straight while a steep and slick path goes to the left. I wish the huge pile of dirt didn't block the views from the bottom.

Hiked the road last weekend, about 1/2ft snow the first km, then goes down to almost nothing and then 3/4ft snow the last two km coming up to the lake. Spent the weekend at Elizabeth Parker Hut and much more snow from the lake to the hut- but so worth it!

Easy, beautiful hike with tons of wild flowers in the Summer!!

Nice easy hike with great views. The vegetation is quite different from one side of the lake to other.

Really beautiful views - not hard at all, easy way to spend ~2 hours in the morning. There’s also an ice cream shop at the beginning. So that’s a plus.

You can’t do much if you just drive there, next time I go I’d want to approach via Yoho

Hiking on that road is really boring, especially if you have to do the 22 km in and out in one day. There is no view on that road, and it is a road not a pretty trail. It is best to reserve a bus "months in advance" and hike other trails around the lake. Those other trails are breath taking! A amazing view from all the other trails.
In the winter, you can x-country ski the road. It is track set and easy enough and at least, it is way faster on the way down!!!

Nice that this trail had very little snow, except for approx 50 metres from the upper lookout.

After the lower lookout, it seems as though this trail has not been maintained for some time. There were a lot of trees down across the trail.

Overall, awesome hiking conditions for this time of year.

Did the 10km hike from emerald lake through the snow, it was not easy but well worth it .

Even on an overcast day the trail afforded very nice views, especially from the southern bend of Emerald Lake. I extended the hike over Yoho Pass (nothing special) and continued to Yoho Lake (isolated and very pretty) before turning back. Unless you really enjoy a long uphill in increasingly deep snow the work/view tradeoff for heading out to Yoho Lake probably isn't worth the effort at this point in the season.

Hiked today the trail was icy in spots after the early snows. The trail was muddy in other spots, but passable. There are numerous spots to take pictures of the scenery.

Super easy walk to a spectacular view. Could see it being really busy on a nice day

Went on a rainy day with snow at upper elevation. Only saw a couple of other people during the hike. Trail was a little difficult to follow at the top elevation due to snow, but overall an amazing hike. We loved it.

We just did the hike around the lake as had a stroller and three year old in tow. Was beautiful and very quiet; we only saw a handful of people the whole way round even though there were a lot of tourists in the parking lot and on the bridge at the beginning taking photos.

so beautiful and grand when we are in the midst of the mountains and lakes, the golden larch reflections on the lake is picture perfect !

A short hike, most of which is pretty easy going. The first part of the trail is pretty boring but the falls make up for it. Suitable for all levels including kids.

Hike to the basin. Totally worth it.

Really great trail! Parking lot is small so we had to park on side of the road but wasn’t too far. I took my 7 and 4 year old kids with me. We didn’t do the uphill part, but we did the trail that takes you all around the lake. It was 7.5 km and took us 2 hrs with stops for the kids to play by the lake, which you could do at 3 or 4 spots where the trail levels out to the lake. Easy walk, no major steep sections. Muddy in some parts, for sure. Lots of great views. Many people come to get a glimpse of the lake but few do the trail, making it relatively quiet along the way. Highly recommended.

A short walk on a paved path to a great view of the tall, spectacular falls. Crowded parking lot and walkway.

I didn’t find Takakkaw Falls really great. There were so many tourists around and climbing on the falls that it was hard to enjoy. I wouldn’t go again.

Hiking to Laughing Falls (approx 6-7 km round trip) was much more satisfactory in my opinion, with gorgeous falls at the end and a couple small falls and a lake on the route. Highly enjoyable easy trek.

A short and easy hike. Not many hikes give you such a great reward at the end!

Be prepared to get drenched with spray if you get anywhere near the falls (I did it on a cold day, luckily the hike back isn’t long!)

Lovely trail thru the forest. On different trails you can see many other small waterfalls !

Great hike along the lake !

Beauty everywhere you look. So nice to hike in the prime hiking season and only come across a few groups throughout the day! We did the alpine circuit but I would like to come back to spend more time on the Opabin Plateau. So many lakes, streams and wild flowers! I would like to take more tome to enjoy that special place. We hiked the fire road in and out. It put our day over 30kms and everyone’s feet were not happy for the last 5kms. Other then that, the day was amazing!

We did this trail in the end of June - and it was awesome! As soon as you get to the elevation gain there aren’t many people around :)
Once it goes up, it’s quite steep and after seeing the emerald glacier just keep going and going - way further than the route here displays and you will get rewarded with spectacular views. When we were there, there was still snow up from avalanches. Highly recommended!!

Great switchback trail. longer than we expected, though the terrain was mild. Rocky scramble to the peak, similar to EEOR or Ha ling. The views at the top are absolutely stunning. Definitely would recommend this hike to anyone looking to spend about 3 1/2 - 4 hours round trip.

Nice easy hike, beautiful view of the falls. Way too busy on the weekend. Encountered a lot of impatient drivers who obviously wanted to get there or out as soon as possible. Valley is beautiful with picturesque falls, tall trees and avalanche paths.
