I hiked this at the end of August and there was a lot of snow. I almost got blown over by the wind at the top! It is steep the whole way up except for a few spots. If you are doing it, come prepared with water and layers.

I hiked this trail with my 50 year old mother. If she can do it, you can too. That being said there is a point about a mile in that the trail path got obscured. My mother and I ended up climbing the mountain off trail for a while until we met back up with it. We we're able to take the trail down the whole way. The view on top is beautiful, but make sure you're prepared with hiking equipment and a positive attitude.

Hiked this trail to the overlook. Wow! it's a gorgeous view. I'd call it a moderate hike. We are seniors in our 60's, and felt like it gave us a little challenge. We packed our lunch and sat at the overlook eating on a beautiful fall afternoon. The only disappointment we had was the lack of wildlife. Even from the overlook, we could see no wildlife. But, that's the way it's been the entire trip. Where are all the animals? Wolves taking care of them?

Trail Closed. 9/30

Great trail with great views the whole way! Was surprised by a grizzly on the trail about 15 yrds from us as we turned a corner about halfway from the inspiration point trailhead. Ended up driving to inspirational point.

This was a challenging hike, and steep at times but slow and steady wins the race on this one. The views at the top are incredible! You can see all the way to the Grand Tetons. But make sure to bring warm layers for the top, it was a beautiful sunny 65 degree day at the bottom but incredibly windy and cold at the top. Thankfully people have built small rock wall barriers that you sit in and eat and relax at the top. We made it up in 2hrs 20min and it took about 1hr to get down. Coming down was challenging at points because of the steepness coupled with all the loose rocks and dirt, I recommend finding a walking stick.

A great hike to test your legs and your stamina!

Is quite crowded for most of it but the views are excellent.

My wife and I did the loop yesterday. I used a website I found that shows the last time Old Faithful and the Grand erupted and an estimate for next eruption. We watched Old Faithful erupt twice; once from right beside it and once from the observation trail. The observation trail is much better vantage point. after that, we began walking the trail. I knew Grand was supposed to erupt sometime between 1 pm and 3 pm with my best estimate at 2 pm. We were approaching the Grand at 155 pm and it started to erupt!!!! I was like a little kid, partially because I lucked out on my estimate to be there and partially because the eruption was utterly amazing...much better than Old Faithful and longer. The crowd was amazed as well. The loop is a nice relaxing walk that just about anyone can do.

Very nice view 360 degree view from the top including Yellowstone Lake and other mountain peaks. Not an easy hike and the 4.1 mile distance is definitely off. My Apple Watch recorded 5.53 miles, someone should get this distance updated. I was hoping to see some bighorn sheep or a grizzly at distance but didn’t see either. Challenging but well worthwhile hike.

We took the overlook trail up. The switchbacks were tough. It was not very well marked at the top. We, luckily, found our way back to the trail to the falls. Other than that the trail was well maintained. The views were incredible. The falls were spectacular. Overall a fantastic hike.

Great hike! Being from Washington and sea level, the elevation was the biggest challenge, like some others have said. My husband and I could not catch our breaths by the time we were about halfway up! Gorgeous views though of the park, lake, and mountain ranges.

This hike was HARD but so worth it! I consider myself in shape however the elevation kicked my butt. I panted the whole way up because it is quite literally a constant incline. It gets a little sketchy up top with loose rocks that make you feel like you might slip right off the Mountain. The views are spectacular throughout though! I’ll be sore for days but I’d do it all again! I think the distance should be edited - my Fitbit tracked 3.05 miles one way - which would make this hike 6.10 miles not 4.1.

The geysers and pools are pure magic. Castle Geyser was definitely a favorite.

Great hike. The views were amazing. Started at Lower Falls, hiked to Inspiration Point and then back to Grand View and Overlook.

Can’t wait to go back! When I was there, my husband and I hiked a portion of it with our 6th month old which was interesting. It was steep and chilly so we ended up turning around but the views were INSANE! Super pretty place, I don’t think Americans realize how lucky they are to have a country so beautiful as ours! The GC at YST is amazing and everyone should see it! Next time I intend to take my older kids there to hike the entire park!

Short and rewarding hike. It was a steady climb most of the way with a lot of rock scrambling towards the last 1/2 mile, but I didn’t find it particularly challenging. I reached the peak in about an hour and 15 minutes and down in less than an hour. Great views at the top but it is very windy so layers are a must!

We only hiked the main section. Didn't brave the steps all the way down. breathtaking view and afterwards we saw three bucks in velvet having a little snack.

Trail was a bit confusing and poorly marked at first. Do not head uphill to the overlook if you are wanting to get to Fairy Falls, just keep walking. Once you're on the trailhead, it's marked very well. Fairy Falls was great and the chipmunks were overly friendly. We walked on to Imperial Geyser and back out. Trail gets a bit muddy in sections but for the most part it's flat and well maintained.

Park at Biscuit Basin. The trail starts in the back of the boardwalk around the thermal pools. For the best trip, go to the right where the trail splits after the boardwalk. Then take the loop all the way around. Very strenuous on the way up, but the overlook and falls are incredible!

Good hike with great views, diverse ecosystems and fine riparian environment along stream and waterfalls, great for all.

Great hike! The views were amazing but the hike was tough! The path can be very rocky at times. Make sure you have sturdy shoes and plenty of water. Go to the overlook first and then down to the falls.
