Yellowstone Map

Far too crowded when I visited and slightly worn. The boardwalk needs renovations and there were unattended children running amuck. It's ok for strolling but tourists have torn the place up.

Stunningly beautiful!

Very pretty - also great if you’re killing time waiting for Old Faithful!

Won’t call it a hike, but great views from the overview locations 600’ and 1200’ down a sidewalk from the parking lot.

Easy boardwalk hike. Parking can be horrendous! Kids loved the trail and we loved the “new” hot springs and mud pots.

Easy hike to a great view from the brand new viewing platform. Didn’t have time to explore Fairy Falls with our 5 and 10 yo’s and their 70+ grandmother, but will in the future.

Super family friendly and easy walk around these gorgeous, vibrant hot springs. Great view of Yellowstone Lake as well, definitely worth a stop.

Not much to see on the way but the view at the end of the trail is worth it.

Easy descent down to the falls or down the short trail off to the right to get down near the river. Beautiful views of both the falls and the river. Tends to be a little crowded throughout the day but overall incredible up close sights to see

It’s supper easy. The view isn’t a great as the lower falls in my opinion. But it’s still beautiful.

Another beautiful sight at Yellowstone. Kid friendly and short enough to keep my four year old from getting tired and fussy.

Very fun and beautiful and well worth the visit. The only downside was how crowded it was. I travel with a four year old and the crowd was somewhat difficult at times to move through.
Plus side the pathway is kid friendly.

Great short hike. Views of lower falls from this point were awesome. Trail is paved on way down and can be narrow at the turns. Remember if you hike down, you have to hike back up.

Great easy hike. Plenty of people on trail, so safe to go solo and not worry about wildlife (still be bear aware!) be prepared for tons of people at the top

This is a really easy trail meant for all skill levels. Wish it was a little longer. The view at the top is totally worth it though.

The trail looks amazing but it is shut down right now due to high water :( disappointment!!

Nothing too exciting. Steep switchbacks on the way back up and way too many tourists climbing under the barricades and signs posted stay on trail. Lots of disrespectful families which is disappointing

Loved this little walk through all the paint pots. Fun little walk

Great views, but not so much a trail or hike... more of a park and shoot type of experience. Really really crowded but that comes with it being very accessible. We were there on a really cold and windy day. I would love to go back in the Winter and maybe do a hike above it.

This isn't really a hike, it's a boardwalk path. It's good, quick loop that gives you views of the lake, plus some hot springs and other thermal features. If you don't have much time in the park, this is a great spot to see a lot in one short walk. Be prepared to fight through crowds.

I'd recommend doing this and the Yellowstone Lake Overlook trail, another short hike which leaves from the same parking lot. There you can get overhead views of the lake away from the crowds.

This is a quick, pleasant hike with great views of the lake. You start from the West Thumb parking lot and walk through a flat section of the forest on a wide trail. Then you cross the road and proceed through more forest before heading up the hill. The hill area is unshaded and where you get the views of the lake. At the top there's a bench.

There's a sign posted saying a bear's been spotted frequenting the area, but I didn't see it nor any scat or prints. I did see a fox on the hilltop, a deer in the forest, and a couple small snakes. This trail is rated moderate, but I'd say it's on the easy side of moderate. The climb up the hill is steep near the end and a bit rocky, but nothing too difficult.

This is a good short hike if you want to get away from the crowds. I only saw 2 other people on the trail near the entrance/exit, which is remarkable given it leaves right from West Thumb. Be prepared to deal with crowds in the parking lot, but you'll probably have the trail to yourself.

We enjoyed the geysers so much and stayed in the area so long that we actually witnessed Old Faithful’s eruption twice (around 9:00 and again around 10:40).

The trail was great and just what we needed after being in the car for a couple of hours! Beautiful scenery!

Easy hike with great views of Yellowstone lake and geothermal features.

can't beat the view for such a short easy hike!

my snap vid didn't save of this :(

don't miss out on this. super easy and lot of great photo ops

how could you review this any less than 5 stars? I could envision having to hike 5 miles and this being the reward at the end. It is outstanding and unique. i ended up doing the loop trail to the falls after this and both were great.

I just thought this one was ok. There are crowds and a ton of switchbacks and felt like view was just ok. I'd recommend viewing falls at higher overlook off loop.

Pretty easy boardwalk to follow, interesting sights, restrooms less than desirable.
