I have completed this hike on multiple occasions, one of the best spots in the park to see Old Faithful erupt.
If you have the chance do the hike at night, the eruption is magical. Make sure to bring bear spray, and a good light!

Great sight and if right on time gets you to peak in a fair amount of time

It takes effort and determination. But is certainly worth it. Do not try if you haven’t trained. But if you are in moderate condition take your time and go for it. Amazing

An absolute must do trail

Great trail for those little ok’ing to see how the elevation west will impact them. This is more easy than moderate but good for us easterners to get acclimated to then elevation Not a big difference in changes nice sights get updates from rangers on what to be aware of

Yes, Yellowstone is incredibly busy and there will be people everywhere at the geyser basin trails, but in my opinion, it is totally worth dealing with the crowds. The Grand Prismatic is an absolutely beautiful geological wonder. The boardwalk is cool but the overlook is even better in my opinion.

We got to the trailhead around sunrise, which I recommend, as we were the first ones to summit but passed many people on the way down. With a good push this hike is very rewarding and worth the effort. We saw mule deer and Pika at the top.

Do this hike!! Everyone goes to the boardwalk but this beats the boardwalk all day, definitely worth your time!

Nice level trail along the river. Paved in spots. Beautiful landscape. Geyser was not quite as described today. Started bubbling at 2:30 pm, small eruption for 2 min at 3:00 pm, larger eruption at 3:24 pm but only for 5-6 minutes and not a loud steam cycle as described. May have needed to stay a little longer. Still a gorgeous day and worth the wait.

Easy hike. Great, wide trail. Nice views. Budget time for at the top; you will want to put the lookout center at the top to good use.

Short lung-busting hike. The trees feel endless, but then they end quite suddenly and the views are amazing on the final approach. Push over to the rounded summit, that’s where the park boundary is.

Awesome hike with amazing views. My favorite hike of Yellowstone. Wildlife is abundant as well!

This was our favorite hike in Yellowstone. Uphill on the way up and downhill on the way back. Not hard though, it’s moderate. It is only a bit of of a challenge if you’re not experienced with high altitude hiking (I have lived in Florida my whole life) but you can take small breaks to catch your breath and take some pictures! The views start out great and get even better as you start hiking up. It was so windy at the top that our hats almost flew off but the view from the top was amazing. Going up into the viewing room and signing the log book with our names was such a cool experience. I would do this hike all the time if I could! Highly recommended.

Stunning views on top of the whole Yellowstone park and you can even see the Tetons. Short by many standards but hard and steep. A great summit for a first timer? But be mindful of bears!!

Very beautiful

A great little-known view point to get a second perspective & more pictures of Old Faithful

I hiked the trail from the Kepler Cascades to Lone Star Geyser on September 10, 2017. It was a beautiful hike following the Firehole river. The Lone Star Geyser erupted at about 1120am....very impressive Geyser. Water and steam to 30-40 ft for about 20 minutes

unforgettable view!

Enjoyed this hike. I wouldn't call it hard. Trail is very wide and you pretty much have a gradual ascent to the top with a few areas where it levels off. The view would have been much better had there not been so much smoke in the air from all the fires in Montana and Idaho, but it was still pretty cool. We saw a black bear on the hike which was really cool.

Beautiful trail and well worth the effort!!!!

Amazing! Went in July 2016.

We went on this Ranger led trail in July 2016. It was quite interesting and led to Shoshone lake that can only be seen by hiking to it. The trail was one of the original trails from the 1800's.

Great not too hard. Bring bug spray near lake

It's an easy to moderate hike with great view. Absolutely amazing weather.

Hiked this in early August with my family, including two kids (ages 10 and 12). We all have hiking experience, but are not regular hikers and the trail was completely manageable. I'd agree with some other reviewers this is more like a moderate trail. When the ground still has snow, I can imagine it is difficult. Very peaceful, not super trafficked but some people along it. Pretty and the view at the top is great - would have been even better without the smoke from MT wildfires. We only saw chipmunks and a marmot, but still fun. Air a little thin towards top. We met another family on the trail and enjoyed walking up with them! As others said, gets chilly and windy at top.

Best hike in Yellowstone, beautiful view, no crowds.

Great hike, no crowds. I would say that the trail is moderate not hard. Saw lots of bighorn sheep and some pikas.
