This was such a fun little hike! My grandpa and I only saw maybe 4 people and the fall at the end was so pretty! Bring bug spray and sunscreen though

Did both north and south rim. Did this after hike on Mt washborn in the morning and was a fantastic day moderate rating may be fair but also
Points a bit to the easier side in spots. Fun and most anyone can enjoy this

It takes effort and determination. But is certainly worth it. Do not try if you haven’t trained. But if you are in moderate condition take your time and go for it. Amazing

Beautiful. And is closer to easy than moderate. Plenty of change but plenty flat

It sure why the moderate rating. It’s easy fun and of coarse a must see if you have not done before

Nic trail and at highest elevation stay near trail area it seems open in areas where you can be tempered to wander a bit but beware as thermo features are not clearly marked off so danger danger of if wander

I have done this Mystic Falls loop three different times of the summer. Mid-to-late June is the best b/c the snow melt is awesome; the water is roaring; and there are small waterfalls that are very nice that are gone by mid-July and thereafter. Every time I go back to YNP, this hike is a Must. A repeat.

We got to the trailhead around sunrise, which I recommend, as we were the first ones to summit but passed many people on the way down. With a good push this hike is very rewarding and worth the effort. We saw mule deer and Pika at the top.

We were able to go in late October. It was a wonderful hike since we were about the only ones there!!! We saw lots of bison and such interesting and magnificent scenery!

breathtaking

Went on a perfect overcast day and there was not too many people for Yellowstone. Was even able to get parking in mid day.

I guess if you are going to show some out of town folks Old Faithful and want to call it a hike, this would be the route, but not really something I’d do again unless that was the exact goal. Hiking up to observation point started to feel like I was finally hiking but then by the time I got away from the crowds of people we began to descend into them again. Views of a bunch of tourists waiting for Old Faithful to erupt, and a river bridge, and a descent view overlooking the other side of the lodge. Good if it’s your first time in the park and just want to walk around.

Pretty much a must do if visiting Yellowstone for the first time to sightsee, but wouldn’t consider this a traditional hike by trail. Expect A LOT of people. Not sure why this is rated moderate. Maybe the smell? Pretty much just a walk on the boardwalk the park created for people wanting to see geysers.

This was a cool hike but easy.. once we passed the overlook to Primastic Springs the crowd definitely thinned out. Once you get to Fairy Falls I would seriously consider continuing on to Imperial Gyser. There was nobody back there so it felt like it was our own private gyser.... it also goes off like every 30 seconds. If you do the whole thing you get to see prismatic, the waterfall and a gyser.

Old Faithful is way too hyped up. Its predictably is about all that’s notable. Beyond that it’s jammed with bus upon bus of tourists who leaving thinking “that was it?”. My recommendation is to get away from the main events and hike to some waterfalls - Mystic, Fairy, Osprey. They are not difficult to get to and you’ll taste more of the ruggedness and beauty of Yellowstone.

Make sure to do the entire loop. If you start low, keep going up and up and up after you pass the falls. It’s a peaceful hike and chances are you won’t encounter many others. The view at the top is great.

Did this one around 5 years ago when I was 11 years old, great way to see the hot springs up close, there were bones visible in one of them from where a bison fell in and died. Old faithful was fun to watch and there’s a clock that counts down till the next eruption, about and hour and 15 between each one. Obviously this is a big tourist attraction so expect crowds.

So heavily trafficked, it is more of a walk then a hike. Did a few years back with a Venture Crew.

Heavily trafficked, but well worth the hike. Stunning views and sights.

Fascinating sights!

Very easy...cool geysers and springs. Great colors and my kids loved it!

Short lung-busting hike. The trees feel endless, but then they end quite suddenly and the views are amazing on the final approach. Push over to the rounded summit, that’s where the park boundary is.

2 different thermal features which are very unique on their own.

Wonderful geysers but crowded though

Very Unique geological experience
