If you're short on time and only have enough to see the absolute best of Yellowstone - do not miss this! The view from this trail is far more incredible than the view from the boardwalk that takes you closer to the spring. I did this trail while traveling across the country in my converted minivan. 8/2020 Stunning - so interesting! The hot air coming off of the spring felt strange with the cool wind.
Definitely not my fave. Too crowded. Grand Prismatic is better from the overlook. The other springs are beautiful, and it’s worth doing once, but I wouldn’t do it again.
Skip the boardwalk and do this instead!
easy walk but definitely recommend going to the grand prismatic spring overlook
not really worth it just for old faithful, definitely recommend going to see some of the other geysers/pools
don't really need to follow the map
Was here two yrs ago. Nice walk to see a really cool geological feature in the park.
Took it over to morning glory, pretty cute
Super crowded, and lots of Chinese tourists. I have a big family with 7 kids and so we were being stared at and photographed constantly. I don't mind, it makes me feel like a celebrity. But it's hard to justify such a long time sacrifice on vacay for something I see every year, since my grandma lives up in Ashton. I would stop if its your first trip thru the park, otherwise I'd stick to the less populated areas where you can take in more of the park itself. You won't be disappointed.
This was one of the last geothermal features we saw before leaving the park. So by that time we’d seen quite a few. This was definitely neat to see on the edge of the lake. Really glad we didn’t drive right by.
This is worth it, but you can’t miss seeing grand prismatic from the overlook!
This was a nice one. It was really cold when I went.
Awesome hike on snow-covered trails (with some icy / slushy spots) on the last day of the season. Fairy Falls is covered with lots of beautiful icicles; buffalos chilling in the meadows a few yards off the trail; and the Imperial Geyser is very active. Well worth the trek in the cold!
Hard to really appreciate it when it’s so cold.
When it's very cold, all you can see is the steam coming out of it. Still very majestic though.
Don’t got when it’s 20 degrees...makes it hard to see the beautiful colors.
Can be very crowded, but is a must see I. Yellowstone.
Can be very crowded, so get there early to get a parking spot. Nice easy walk and we'll worth the time.
Skip the boardwalk and do this instead. Less people and a better view.
The is a busy short loop, but I think it’s worth seeing Grand from here and the top to get both perspectives.
The trail was fairly dusty and exposed but lined with some smaller pools here and there.
Favorite trail in Yellowstone so far. The trail itself is not that exciting unless there are bison in the area (did happen at dusk once for me!), but the view of Prismatic is enchanting. It'll be partially blocked by steam most likely, but with a little wind you can get great views. The colors really are gorgeous in the sun.
Gorgeous easy hike, gravel trail the whole time. Beginning is more scenic but the falls are 100% worth it
Not much to see in terms of color today due to low temps & resulting steam . But... still fun.
Nice walk around the geyser to take in the scenery.
