Great hike today! The leaves are starting to change a little already! It’s
In the open, so pretty hot. Loose rocks so have good shoes, I used my sticks. I’m 65 so not as quick as I used to be, but a nice hike for my age group! Has everything-a creek, some daisies still out, Abert squirrels. Busy trails many off lease dogs but well behaved. Loved it!

Awesome hike. Hit the trail around 2:15 on Sunday, unusually late but what the hell. Pretty easy to moderate until you get past the first two lakes. Forested most of the way. Really great hike but compared to others in the area, specifically some from the trailheads a bit to the north, you can find some a bit more epic. With that said, parking is easy and it’s gorgeous.

Colorado is the best.

To help out some fellow inexperienced hikers such as myself: this trail is SO beautiful and it's one of my favorites so far! But you need to be prepared. It can be REALLY cold and rainy in here, so bring raincoats and potentially gloves and hats if you are one to get cold easily! The temperature in here can be a lot different than Denver. Experienced people probably already knew that but I sure didn't! Enjoy

will definately do it again.

Normally I'm ok with the poplar trails but this one is getting to be a joke. the lake is beautiful, great place to eat; until you get a mom and her children coming up while you're eating and proceed to strip And skinny dip right in front of us, not only was this incredibly uncomfortable for us who were sitting there first but girls proceeded to PEE right in the water!! squatting right in front of us eating our f*cking lunch!
I'm all for skinny dipping but have some respect for the people around you, please don't expose your 10 year old children to the entire lake and DO NOT pee in the water!

Great views! Definitely worth the hike and the tower stairs. Lots of nice spots to rest, and also some great rock overlooks.

However, the last 9 miles of the road to the trailhead are a very bumpy washboard so, be prepared.

Also, it was very busy today - lots of families and dogs. Perhaps a bit too crowded for me and definitely a bit too groomed, including benches along the way, for my taste.

All said and done, a very nice and rewarding couple of hours. A great place to introduce Colorado newbies!

I hiked this at about 2 pm and it was about 90 degrees out. I don't think there was enough shade for the heat. You have to pay $5 for parking. I got sort of lost at the end. The path just ends and then another trail starts from left to right so I just turned around and walked back. I guess there's a way to loop around but I decided to just walk back. It was pretty fun and challenging.

Very nice, relaxing hike with absolutely FABULOUS views for no more difficult than it is. Can’t wait to do it with my family so they can experience amazing Colorado scenery without hiking into the back country. Really, really enjoyed it!

Being an avid hiker from East Tennessee, there was no hope for me. I completed the incline on my first day in Colorado, but my lungs paid dearly for it since I was not used to the elevation. I strongly suggest that you buy the "I completed the incline" sticker at the gift shop before hand and use that as motivation to get to the top. Overall once you make it to the top, the view is worth it as well as the sense of cheating death and accomplishment. Pack water, food, needle cheast decompressor and a good camera to document your humility.

very quick and easy trail with an great lake at the top. do this and diamond lake in the same day if you have time - the Lost Lake trailhead starts where the road splits to lead to Diamond Lake. get there early bc it gets very busy and hard to park.

Nice trail. Watch the signs

Great hike with lots of good stopping points! Mostly shaded which I can appreciate! Dogs were all on leash which was impressive. The view from the top was amazing & the stairs were not bad at all!! Coming from a 6 month pregnant lady!!

Did this hike on a Thursday morning. Parking was tight but found a spot around 1130. Started the hike, took a detour to the left and found some beautiful waterfalls. Had to backtrack to get to the main trail. Rocky in parts. A bit of an incline at the end, but worth the view at the lake at the end. Not as narrow on the trail as other hikes. Quite a few bugs along the way but none at the lake which was a great place to grab a bite and enjoy the view.

I did this trail right before sunset and it was beautiful! I left a little bit before the sky became extremely colorful so now I want to go tomorrow and stay later! I definitely recommend doing some nearby trails first, then ending with this trail. Only passed two people the entire time I was on this trail and there’s multiple lookout points for scenic views and fabulous pictures.

fun trail, you'll get your cardio in!

This is my favorite spot. Hiking up to the top is work but once you get there the view from the lookout tower is amazing and worth it. If you are not use to the altitude make sure to take many stops and bring lots of water. You will never regret doing this hike.

Really cool trail! Especially if you’re looking for a hike that isn’t going to take all day. The fire tower was amazing, the views were insane! My boyfriend discovered that he was terrified of heights but definitely worth the climb! Haha.

Me encantó la experiencia, excelente si lo
recomiendo.

Walk the path by the river, it’s beautiful and is not nearly as rocky. We walked the river path up and it was gorgeous!! It brings you out at a nice place to lay out in the rocks and then you continue on to the main tail to the lake.

A perfect hike for a time period of about 2 hours! Amazing views at the top! Have hiked this trail multiple times and it never disappoints!

They aren’t kidding-this is an extreme hike. But it was awesome!!

I liked that this trail had variety of sceneries. Many shaded area as well as some meadows and rocky terrains. Great for dogs since there is a creek running by, and the lakes to get to. Wild flowers are beautiful in August. I saw a coyote (I think) and moose!

Quick and fun. Did it with my nephews - both 7 years old. They enjoyed the Tower and talking with the Ranger at the top. The views are fantastic.

The trail is beautiful and not too difficult. But I have to agree with other commenters that it’s very busy on weekends and the amount of loose rock is tricky. I still recommend it though because the lake and the waterfalls are relaxing. Also, parking at the Nederland park n ride and getting the shuttle is the way to go; it’s there every 15 minutes on the weekends and you don’t have to deal with the scarce parking at the trail head.

Scenic and forested. The last 3/4 of the hike got hard and had me wondering if I was ever going to make it, but it was worth the effort to get to beautiful mountain lakes.

Lovely little walk with beautiful views. We were greeted by six wild turkeys grazing along side the path seemingly careless of our presence.

Ok for kids? Have twin 9 y/o’s not in climbing shape yet from move

Tough hike!! Had to take a lot of breaks!! The accomplishment of getting to the top feels great but I don’t need to do it again!!

Nice well marked trail that takes you up to Lost Lake, a clear, shallow mountain lake at about 10,000 feet elevation. It’s a bit tough on the way up, but a fun hike down. Nice Mountain View’s and shallow rocky rivers with a couple large waterfalls.
