Pretty fall colors. Trail is narrow but not unsafe.

This was a nice trail and it provided some beautiful views of intermittent springs, and there were so many wild flowers but three miles into our hike and we didn’t see the lake that was included in the reviews of this hike. Turns out the lake is 6 miles in according to the US Forest Service, so if you want to see the lake plan on hiking 12 miles round trip. Another thing to keep in mind is the that the trail is narrow and can get very rocky.

Amazing trail! I would highly recommend. The views are amazing and the elevation is worth it. The trail is extremely well-kept and well marked.

We visited this trail with our kiddos. Very fun place! I will say watch out for a rocky area you have to climb up to continue on the trail about half way in. We weren’t expecting it- it was easy enough to get over- but a little concerning when you first see it!

Beautiful area. I’ve come up here a few times and gone further and further each time. The flowers are stunning especially in July and August. You can turn left about 3 miles in and go to Rock Lake Peak or turn right and go to Swift Creek Lake or further. Just a great great spot.

Trail still snow packed at the end. Beautiful and challenging hike. Only saw 1 couple the entire hike, but many amazingly blue bluebirds.

Did it the first of June and it was beautiful. Still a small amount of snow but not bad. Didn’t see any traffic at all!

The lake is beautiful getting to trailhead was a bit rough as the road is rocky and deep runoff ruts. Be careful about one third of the way in the trail forks and Someone has turned the arrow left . This takes you to the top of the mountain you need to go right to get to the lake . We hiked an extra 5 miles before we came back and found the lake.

I hiked this trail in 2016 and actually carried my one year old the whole way! Parts of the trail are steep! But the Lake is beautiful! We also carried a Canoe up there and played in the water! Absolutely beautiful and you can hike around the lake as well!

Beautiful lake, but it takes some time to get here. High clearance vehicle is required to travel down the access road. Final 1.3 miles is by foot. Several fallen trees block the path, so you can get a little closer with a 4 wheeler but not the entire way. We backpacked in and spent two nights at the lake without seeing a single other person there. Water is crystal clear, and fishing is great - we rarely went more than 2-3 minutes without hooking another fish (released them). There are several primitive campsites in the area. Two are at the bottom of a small hill a few hundred feet east of the lake. Mosquitoes are very thick there, but they are protected from the wind. One is at the top of the small hill east of the lake - beautiful views while laying in your hammock, but the winds blow pretty strong there all day and night. There do not appear to be any sites south of the lake, but we found a few other spots on the north side that also appeared to be windy when we walked through. This area is pristine - come prepared for solitude, and pack everything out.

It starts about 10 to 15 feet past the bathroom, slightly hidden. The trail is quite steep and fairly narrow and rocky at the start especially. Its beautiful lots of wild flowers and trees its gorgeous. We can't wait to go back.

I never do reviews really but I was so incredibly impressed with this app that It led us directly to the trailhead in an area I was completely not familiar with. The hike was outstanding, along with the gorgeous scenery. Now something to be reiterated is that this isn't the 3/4 mile hike that is the obvious and easy one. This moderate trail head ( which in my opinion is way better) is actually right next to the bathroom area. You will completely miss it if you don't know this. Great app and amazing hike !

Backpacking

To begin with, this trail is not the trail to the intermittent spring in Swift Creek Canyon though it does start nearby. We backpacked in 6 miles and set up base camp. The following day we continued up with daypacks and fishing gear to Corral Creek Lake and then returned back to our campsite again. The third day we backpacked out. The waterfalls and flowers were amazing. Did have a few horseflies to deal with.

A beautiful canyon, for sure. We wanted to start our trip off by witnessing the "Periodic Spring" do its thing. It did not. The spring is advertised to start and stop every 12 to 18 minutes. We gave it 40 minutes, and decided to get on with our hike. Turns out, the sign at the spring says, "late summer". So maybe we'll go back in a month or two and see if the spring is periodic then. Guess the locals don't want to deter the tourists, so they keep that part quiet. As for the Swift Creek hiking trail...It is a good trail. It is a bit difficult as there is a significant gain in elevation. The issue we had was water access for our thirsty Newfoundland dogs. There is very little access to the creek for at least 3 miles. Kind of tough on the dogs on a hot day. There were a couple of springs traversing the trail along the way, but by mid-July they are down to a trickle. Not far passed the intersection with the Rock Lake trail (039), you do drop down to the creek. However, there are several large down trees. In order to continue, you'll have to navigate through/around the tangled mess. We chose to head back at that point. I should note that a good bug repellant is recommended this time of year, as the horse flies are pretty bad. Other years it may be the deer flies. Good trip though. I would recommend it.

Hiked up swift creek trail for approx 5.5 miles and then returned. This brings you right to swift creek falls that comes down from swift creek lake that is not visible from this trail. Easy trail through the forest. First thing to be seen is the intermittent spring approx a mile up the canyon. After 3.5miles you begin to see many waterfalls during early springtime (mid May to early June). Lots of wildflowers towards the end of June. There are multiple places to filter water along the way. Usually see deer.
