This one looks good on paper but is actually tedious, dry in long stretches with mixed, mediocre views and leaves you unsatisfied. Use your valuable time to a different loop.

cool, above tree line hike

First time to be up at the lakes with snow around them. Trail is muddy and snowy in different areas. Very beautiful and peaceful.

Gorgeous views!! Make sure you fill your water at North Fork because when we went (end of Aug) there wasnt any water source from North Fork to after Devil's Dome.

One of the best hikes I've ever been on. Bring a telescopic fishing pole!!! The fish attack anything that hits the water. Wish I had one at the time. (Fishing is open year round on monogram lake)

great trip, hiked to twin sisters with our daughter's and spent the night. weather was great, absolutely no bugs, and caught a few brookies from big sister. Love this area. this was our first father daughter backpack trip the youngest of the girls being age 9 so this a trail kids can do.

An unforgettable experience. Definitely not an easy hike, but the divide is worth the elevation gain. Make sure to reserve camping in advance at Flapjack lakes or Donahue creek. We hiked up in the morning, made a base camp at Donahue creek, and hiked up to the divide in the evening followed by a morning hike up to black and white lakes the next morning.

One of my favorite hikes. Good workout with gorgeous lakes at the end. Always buggy until September so make sure you have lots of bug spray!

Decent intermediate trail. Plenty of elevation gain to start but doable for most adults. I wouldn't recommend for young kids but teens can handle it. The big sister has some small rainbows and brooks but the scenery is better than the fishing. I suggest avoiding during hunting season, it's safer for you and less likely to disturb the hunters as well.

great hike! Hiked in there back in 09 with a couple of friends. The bears are thick up there, saw 9 that weekend!

Access Gladys Divide by way of Flapjack Lakes. The view of the Hamma Hamma valley is amazing!

Monogram Lake is a great hike with some outstanding views of the Cascades. Eat a good breakfast because you will need the energy. I hiked in by myself and nearly bumped into a bear. Wear a bell and be aware that bears like the blueberries that are all over the hill sides. the lake is awesome after the hike in.

A good ass kicker! They say 5 days, but I did it in 3 (not without a good amount of pain though). I did it last August, there was still snow at certain points, but was ok with trail running shoes, trekking poles and minimal weight (27 lbs. with food and water). This was my first intro to the north cascades and this is by far my favorite place to hike in the pacific northwest!
