Steep-ish but not too hard. Good footing and absolutely gorgeous!

Road was closed where it changes to gravel. Improvised my route and ended up on a bunch of steep, slippery trails and wide tracks from the snow equipment. The trail wasn't spectacular, but the lake and the summit were beautiful. On sugarloaf- the West approach is much friendlier. From the east, it was very steep climbing above the lake. Extra slippery with the snow. And the push to the summit was more exposed than on the West side. I don't recommend descending on the East, and only climb if you're capable.

Tough hike. Straight up and down. There’s plenty of shade. Good views but not great. I enjoyed it but don’t think I would do it again.

Hard going straight up. It’s a lot easier following the road

Beautiful. The last half mile is truly hard, not moderate. :) Beautiful leaves right now

This is a very beautiful trail. It gets much steeper after passing the lake. However, I was nearly run over by at least 15 mountain bikers who seem to think these trails are dirt roller coasters, built to amuse them. Mountain bikers represent a very real exploitation of nature, to the detriment of those who might otherwise appreciate it. They have ignored age-old trail etiquette and instituted their own code of conduct. That conduct suits only them and is dangerous to hikers. New rules and regulations are direly needed to ensure safe access to nature for nature lovers!

10/14/2020 One of my favorite Fall trails. The lower reservoir was almost empty and leaves are getting brittle but still so lovely. The waterfall is still flowing. A beautiful Fall day!

The trail is an access road, so it’s really wide and nice if you are with a small group. We made it a loop and came back down the other side of Alta by Sugarloaf. Really nice weather this time of year, and obviously a lot of wind at the top.

Relaying what a commenter a few posts ago said, there is a dead moose carcass on the left of the trail about .2/.3 away from the lake. Assuming it’ll be rotted fully soon, but there’s a stretch where it smells terrible, and it’s laying to the left of the trail (a few feet off the trail). Looks like a hunter skinned it and cut off its head for a trophy kill.

Phenomenal hike! One of our favorites we’ve ever done in park city! Wonderful workout as the first 3 miles are basically nonstop incline. Definitely a hard hike as the last section near the peak is looser rock and you have to climb hands and feet a bit to cover some bigger rocks. But well worth it for the AMAZING views. The earlier you go during the day the better as you’ll see a lot less people on the beginning section of the trail leading up the lake Mary. Enjoy!!

It was great pretty quite didn’t see too many other hikers, we didn’t run into any decapitated moose near the trail... or we just luckily missed it. Super pretty colors right now! The lake was glass! Hiked down in the dark and it was great!

Awesome hike! Crowded until the first lake, then it thins out. There are some serious inclines, but views are incredible throughout and making it up to the peak is well worth it.

Super pretty, the leaves won’t be on the trees for much longer though. We saw a recently deceased moose with his head missing and totally skinned to the left of the trail during the last .3 miles or so to the lake. Super strange.
