This was a great and well marked trail! Almost all shaded single track so you do have to stay aware for mountain bikers and horseback riders. I went out on a rather warm Sunday around noon and only came across one other runner and two mountain bikers. My GPS tracked just under 500ft of both elevation loss and gain and I ran/hiked the loop clockwise in two hours. Will definitely be going back.

Easy, pretty hike. Good for a leisure stroll

It's been a while since I've visited Rock Creek and was pleased to see more trail markers than I remember. We stopped in at the visitor center to get some info on the trails and construction. Between the map they gave us and all trails we were able to find our way.

As peaceful as it is, we got covered in ticks. Half of the trail isn't paved nor landscaped. You have to cross a major road at one point after the historical landmarks.

Easy hike it’s a bit too close to roads and civilization for a true hike. The trail is very well kept.

Great trial and easy to add to others! Dogs ARE allowed here and there are a lot of them! People are stupid in letting them off leash because it’s gonna ruin it for the rest of us good dog people. This is also a fun trail run location.

Not difficult and not fun in my opinion. The trail can go one way into an urban greenway along the Jerry Connelly cross country trail while the other gets you into Great Falls. If you don’t mind a few miles you can get into Great Falls without much effort. Parking is TERRIBLE and it is dangerous getting in and out of the parking area.

Great trail! Must look out for mountain bikers tho - they come up quick! Really great trail - easily marked.

Beautiful trail through an interesting part of our country, but I didn’t get far before the hoards of mosquitos turned me back. Bring bug spray and cover up.

fantastic hike. well marked. lots of side trail options. the fam and I tromped around for about 5 hours. while there were other hikers on the way, most of the day hikers hike along over to the falls then along the C&O Canal towpath. I've never seen so many old oak trees in one area before. really had a great hike.

Nice route with the exception of the very dangerous crossing over Georgetown Pike. Take a look at that bend in the road — cars speed down around the bend and sometimes can’t see hikers until the last minute, or at least one hopes they see the hikers.

This trail is really pretty, half of it is along the river. The only thing is that because of construction, you are unable to see the bridge (the best part of the hike).

This is a very scenic wooded trail. There are a lot of switchbacks and hairpins which adds to the overall length of the trail. It is well marked and easy to follow. The trail is quite narrow and we had to be mindful of cyclists which was not a big deal. Bring plenty of water as there are no amenities along the trail.

Beautiful place with lots of trails to choose from and all lead to gorgeous hikes!

Unexpected trail in the middle of the nations capital. Will definitely get a good workout in with the hills and dodging of the horse dung located throughout the trail.

Enjoyable, hiked part of it with my friends and our dogs. Everyone had fun, water is good to cool off in

Wonderful forest walk. Very zen. Beautiful green forest carpet, not a lot of bushes. Terrain is on the easy side but it’s a totally enjoyable walk. Agree with another reviewer that it would be great for trail running. Easy to add additional loops for more distance (such as overlook trail).

Great trail - easy but very family friendly with enough room for bikes, runners, dogs and people.

See reviews below to locate a trail map. You need a trail map, it is very confusing to attempt to stay on the trail. There are some pretty spaces along the route and a lot of horse manure to avoid. This loop seems to include some other trails. Blockhouse trail has a dead end at some point where there is a cliff, it is an old military site.

Due to work and timing, I was only able to make it from Colvin Mill to The Potomac, but it was a great first hike.
The trail head is easy to find if you follow the directions provided to you when you open them in google maps.

There were many trails to choose from. Grab a map! Great hike.

I hiked William Rickman Equestrian Center Entrance (on the east side of the park). It has a nice large parking area with a port-a-potty. Most of the trails have sign posts at the the trail head. I did not notice any blazes along the trail. The trails are wide to accommodate the horses. Open field & forested trails.

Peaceful hike! Not terribly muddy considering the recent rainy weather. Trail is easy to follow!

Enjoyable on a nice day, but really not that difficult. On a sunny day, it is some nice afternoon exercise. Photos are better in the afternoon with the sun at your back.

Awesome to learn something new and hangout with friends and family

A nice afternoon hike that is just a short distance from DC. If you have time, the Shenandoahs are only 90 minutes away and so much better, but sometimes you only have an afternoon or just cannot get to the Shenandoahs. This hike is a great close in one in DC with good streams and more solitude than you would expect.

Great trails, getting better every time. It would be helpful if they had better distance and trail markers.

The trail head is actually really easy to find, and you park in a gravel lot right next to the trailhead. Don't go through the housing development...walk towards the trailhead. It is the CCT (Gerry Connolly Cross Country Trail) that starts from the parking lot.
This trail has a diverse set of terrain to cover and a good mix of flat and climbs. 2 river crossings (big boulders and pillons to walk on while crossing). Gets pretty busy near the Great Falls Area--pretty empty on the stick part of the lollipop loop.
