Mediocre trail but view of Whittaker Point is amazing and worth it. Drive to trail head is quite difficult on steep rocky roads. Once you get to parking the trail is the one on left side of road as you are driving up mountain. Lots of people hiking this trail for such a remote area.

Nice hike. Cave is really open and has amazing features. Trail is easy to follow with water running through from time to time. We’ll bring my grandkids at Christmas time -although it’s moderate they’ll have no problem.

I’ve been around a lot of the Buffalo area and this has got to be one of my favorite hikes. Not only is the waterfall spectacular but the hike is excellent and the whole area looks like a place fairies might dwell. If the camp area across from the trail is full there is a turn out off the highway to the West that’ll require a ten minute walk to the trailhead. A lot of elevation gain to the bluffs, go left to the falls. Though the hike to the right is beautiful too if you have time. Loved climbing around on the boulders. If you have a hiking partner give them some space, slips and slides will happen even in the best hiking boots and trail runners. Came in the autumn and the green valley along the creek with the autumn colors surrounding it was just spectacular. Get ready to use your hands to climb out from the grotto.

Easy hike, obvious trail even covered with leaves. I’m out of shape, so if you think you are, too, don’t be afraid of this hike. The view is worth it! Just amazing. (Start early, preferably a week day, if you want some peace and quiet.)

Easy hike even if very poorly marked (marking the trail would at least give novice hikers an opportunity to learn). Lots of good fall foliage and trickles of water over the bluffs. A few small trails beginning at the very back of the campground road; those were better time investment (I’m fickle; I like the payoff). Day was cool and damp with thick fog impeding any view. But felt amazing at the top!

Fall leaves were remarkable! So beautiful!

Easy hike. Great viewpoint

Really enjoyed this hike. Most of it was smooth, prime place for fall foliage. We got off track according to the app and climbed a very steep ridge to find the primitive trail. That section is everything that previous posters have said. There is an 8ish foot drop off a bluff that was covered in moss and very slick. We made it, and had a good time, but I’d advise treating this hike as an out and back. Hike to the turn off to the river, then turn around and head back to the trail head.

Beautiful spot.
It is a bit tricky to find. But someone has spray painted a mark on the road and hung a ribbon in the tree where the trail starts. There are several trace trails in the area. My advice is this: go uphill until you get to the bluffs then turn left and keep going. Stay up fairly high near the bluff line. Take your time. The rocks are super slick. Eventually the creek and bluff will meet and there’s your waterfall.

Great trail to check out the fall colors if you can time it right. Easy trail. There is an incline at the end when you come back but nothing I thought was too bad. The trail is very popular and was very busy and parking was a mess. For how popular this trail is it would be nice to see them put in a parking lot someday. Great rock formations and the views from the bluffs are amazing. It’s a cant miss hike but don’t expect peace and quiet on the weekends.

Gorgeous views form the crag and trail leading up to it. Beautiful trees and creek crossings. Very busy during the Fall months and parking is difficult along the gravel road.

Great hike! Relatively short but packed with stuff to see. Really beautiful in the fall. Trail is well marked and well maintained throughout. Some slippery rock in a couple spots but no big deal. I'd recommend bringing a flashlight for the rock house, some cool areas you can explore in the back corners if you've got one.

Disappointed that almost everyone I saw out there had one or more dogs, there are other trails at Buffalo Point that you can bring your dogs on, no reason for this.

The lake is very pretty but finding the trail is difficult. There were big fallen trees that had been recently cut and the gazebo overlook was really nice. we went in early November, so the trees were pretty and allowed for views of the water. Also, there is $5/car fee.

Love this Trail. Fall foliage was great.

Long bumpy road to trailhead like others have said. In was easier than out as out felt mostly uphill and I'm old and out of shape, lol! Views were amazing! It was crowded on a October Monday including a hammock couple that had been there all day. :( we walked a bit further and found a nice spot for lunch and when we were done the place was empty. So if it's super crowded the day you come I recommend waiting around a little while and you will probably get it to yourself. I'd say this is a must do hike if your in the area.

Beautiful and amazing views! A bit crowded and commercial feeling but deff going to give it another try.

This is a beautiful trail, especially during Fall and leaf off. We like to go up the West side and down the East but it’s great either way. Park at Redding campground and start directly across from the restrooms behind the campsite. The trail is well blazed and easy to follow. It took us about 5 hours to complete but that was with a long lunch break and some photo stops along the way.

Moderate hike but amazing view at the point. Rough road going in though

Beautiful easy 2 mile loop. Views were stunning this fall!

One my favorite trails to do in the fall.

Make sure to see these falls at a peak water level! It is incredible fun to swim and layout on the cleared rocks.

Waterfall is dried up right now. I'm really new to hiking, but I found this trail to be a little tricky due to all the rocks. It is short which is good since the waterfall wasn't running. The drive to it would get 5 stars which kept the destination from being a complete disappointment. The highway and overlooks leading up to it was completely saturated with ladybugs? I mean Alfred Hitchcock proportions of ladybugs.

Busy trail on weekends.

Beautiful hike ! We had two 11 year olds and I was worried bc of the drop offs but it was an awesome hike !

beautiful fall morning very easy hike

Our favorite place to walk in Joplin!
