Fantastic hike! It is steep the entire way up, but extremely rewarding once you reach the top! Bring water!

It’s a shame loved this place as a child now the only people that would go there must love broken bottles and dirty diapers

Loved it! A bit rocky and strenuous climbing up the rocks to the big waterfall. Well worth it and super fun. Beautiful and well worth it.

Um... this was very difficult if you are a new hiker. Reviews didn’t adequately prepare for this shit, as y’all probably have killer calves and fancy hiking boots. Just when I thought I had hit the highest point and climbed the steepest hill, another was there, staring me down, proving me wrong. People were laughing on this hike. I was just attempting to breathe. The final decent on the way down to pirates cove is an absolute joke. A straight 90 degree angle. If you didn’t have bad knees yet, now you will. They should provide sleds to get down. I decided to just ride it down on my ass since I kept falling on it anyway.

Long story short, most beautiful views on the coast guaranteed, but don’t let these meatheads tell you it’s easy.

We started our hike from Barton Flats visitor center based on previous reviews. It's probably over a mile going uphill zigzagging but the trail was not steep and had a lot of shade so it's quite easy and clearly marked. The lake (more like a man made pond for fishing) was beautiful but water was a bit low in the fall. The hike itself was very pleasant with little creek and trees and occasionally a view of mountains nearby. Rangers at the visitor center were nice and helpful.

Gorgeous and quick! Must do trail

Park in small lot at end of Cave Landing Road. This is an easy hike which you can make as difficult as you want by going uphill from Pirates Cove. Tide was high so I did not go down onto beach. People were camping inside the cave which is not legal but they did not bother me. There was no wind so it was going to get how there in afternoon. This is a great hike to start out your day.

The Bluff Trail is an easy hike and the views are spectacular of the Central Coast and Pacific Ocean. This hike of the Bluff Trail is well worth doing, best in the spring when everything is blooming and it is not too hot, it was foggy on this particular day. This trail has both ticks and Poison oak as hazards if you get too close to the sides or go off trail. Rattlesnakes are very common here.
I actually was on three different trails, I started on the Bluff trail at the southern end, then switched to the Badger Trail to go inland for awhile. Then, I switched to the Rattlesnake Flats trail to head towards my car.

The Shell Beach Bluffs and Ontario Ridge Trail is an tough hike in spots however the views are spectacular of the Central Coast and Pacific Ocean. This hike of of the Shell Beach Bluffs and Ontario Ridge Trail is well worth doing, great all year long, maybe not so much in rainy season. This video was shot in the summer so very little bird life as compared to winter. Lots of wildlife if you look for it, mostly squirrels and rabbits so hawks can always be present. Many vultures soaring overhead.

The Los Osos Oaks State Reserve is an easy hike and the views are spectacular of the Central Coast at a few places, but most of the time you are under beautiful oaks. Beautiful waterfall! Short walk to the lower falls. Lots of nice falls and pools to explore on the way up. Not too crowded on weekday morning.

Great easy hike with beautiful scenery!

Waterfall is beautiful and still has a nice amount of water in it in August. The scenery and short hike isn’t an issue at all. What’s unbearable and ruins the beauty of it is the MASSIVE amount of people here. I would definitely recommend trying to go maybe towards sunset or incredibly early in the morning because even getting there by 8 am, I couldn’t stand the people.

if you take Google maps directions it will take you to the Jenks Lake parking area which is state run & costs $5, or you can pass Jenks Lake Rd. to park at Barton Flats Visitor Center & walk in by trail. we walked the entire way around the lake, not just the short paved section on All Trail. Our route was 1.25 miles. The lake rec area offer fishing, boating, vault toilets & picnic areas with charcoal grills.

Nice area, but the trail is not clearly marked. At all. Watch out for poison oak. It was a nice walk in the woods if you’re not the type of person that needs a trail.

nice walk, half of it is pathed. Dog friendly.

A bit dusty at points and a steep incline and descent that would be difficult to navigate without the appropriate footwear. Watch out for 2 swings near the cell towers.

Some of the most beautiful trees I have ever seen! Mostly shaded, easy hike. My 7,5, and 3 year old walked the trails with me without any problems. Lots of Poison Oak, but if you keep your eyes open and stay on the trails, it can be easily avoided. Not stroller friendly. Saw a rabbit, squirrels, birds and lots of lizards. Very peaceful hike. July 2018.

So much fun! The climb up (west end) was gnarly - dry loose soil + loose gravel + steep AF made more a scary incline. But once we started, downwards was hella scarier than upwards (and the folks headed down looked pretty scared!). The ridge itself was really good - fabulous views above the clouds. The climb down (east end) was just a tiny bit scary.

Excellent, easy walk among the Redwoods. Good exploration hike among the big giants, it’s a short introductory walk. Parking at trailhead is limited.

Went to visit pismo and looked up a hike to do in the morning. Beautiful views the whole time provided by the ocean, caves, and nearby million dollar houses.

Fun hike, can find some solitude if timed right. Please note, a good number of the photos uploaded here are not even of this trail, but Montana de Oro, top of Hwy 46, etc. Beautiful nonetheless.
