Awesome rock scramble

TONS of water and high water crossings on Nov 25th. Had to take our shoes off and wade knee deep in ice cold water. Make sure you take poles and water shoes for water crossings on this hike! Lots of climbing up front which was awesome. We added another loop to make it a 9.5 mile hike. Took our large group 5.5 hours to complete.

Took the Orange trail up to the summit. My sister and I found it kinda difficult but we only go hiking once a month or so. Great views once your up there. Took the white and blue trail down and did a couple miles. White and blue were not hard. All the trails are very well marked!

rock scrambling is the best.

So I’m not opposed to fire road trails and this one is about half and half pretty rocky with lots of stream crossings. Be aware the All Trails map calls the entrance fire road Jinny Gray Road, but the trail markers and signs call it Kayseri Run Fire Road.

This is probably my favorite trail in the entire park. This is like a giant playground. It feels exposed and if you are afraid of heights, this probably is one to stay away from ...but the views are amazing and worth it. It is a pretty easy hike and the payoff for the view is well worth the scramble. NO DOGS allowed on the trail for obvious reasons ...I don't want someone hurting their fur baby trying to get them up to the summit for a pic, there are plenty of other places for that in the park..

One of the best places for sunrise/sunset if your up to scrambling up and down the rocks.

This hike was hilly and rocky, but enjoyable. Watch out for snakes

Beautiful views on the blue trail! We got a little turned around at the white rock viewpoint but eventually found our way back to the trail. Would definitely hike this trail again!

Nice quick easy trail to get some fresh air close to home.

It’s under an hour, but it’s a great hour. Rock scramble is fun, you’re inches from sheer cliff in a few spots, though. Can be crowded.

Bearfence is always a hike. Short and sweet with quite the view at the peak. It is challenging for those who do not like heights or are unsteady on their feet.

Short trail with some challenging rock scrambles, definitely not pet friendly, nice views

Great climb. Hiked up from little devil stairs parking lot. Glad I had poles, water crossings a bit dicey at times. Nice walk down with some views!

We only hiked a short distance- picked the trail up off Balmoral Greens in Clifton. It was a little soggy from all the rains but a great time. Only saw two other people. We loved the rocks crossing the stream. A nice, easy hike!

We started muster after the mile maker 19 and parked. Walked down the fire road all the way and then came back up the Devils stairs. There are several creek crossings which are doable. Look for the blue marks on trees or you may miss where you should cross. Stable shoes (not sandals) are a must. It gets steep at points and you will have to actually use hands and feet to step up and climb.

I’m very active and it was a good workout. My counterpart had some difficulty with the steep inclines and elevation. However, you can stop and rest. It was mid 70’s and sunny. We were sweating hard and definitely bring water.

I loved the various fungi and water fall spots. Didn’t see any wildlife, not even birds but I found it to be a very beautiful and a peaceful hike.

We did see a few dogs along the way, one with 3 legs even! But bring water for them. Not sure they should be drinking the creek water even though it’s crystal clear.

I’d recommend this hike. It took us 4 hours but could have easily been done in 3-3.5 with my normal hiking partner.

lots of cross stream path, and climbing rock part is real fun!

My favorite trail during my time in the park. Fun rock scramble at the end and a beautiful 360 view to top it all off.

Good hike but no views. Post hurricane the water was flowing strong and the rocks were slick. Busier than I thought. Not in a rush to do it again but certainly not a bad SNF hike. Good for dogs that love water (and can navigate some rocks aka my black lab)

Beautiful views. Peaceful place for the sunrise, quick rock scramble.

Nice variety of trail loops with same great views.

Took the orange down to the beach and then back. About 5 miles. Peaceful little trail

This has to be one of the best value hikes in Shenandoah. The level of effort vs rewarding views is awesome! My 12yo son and I made this out first hike in Shenandoah and it was a perfect way to break-in to hiking. The trail was lightly trekked unlike Hawksbill or other popular trails that can get crowded. There is a fun little rock scramble and a false peak that is the perfect place to take in the views and a snack. It only took 30-45 minutes to summit at a relaxed pace and stops to take in different scenic or fun spots along the way. We did it on a hot and humid July day so I look forward to doing it in better weather in the fall.

Good trail, good view. But too many mosquitoes, and the markers are inapparent and confusing.

Great trail! I did the hike backward by accident, so make sure when you park at the lot you start by going downward and not up the fire trail. But if you want an added challenge of hiking up a 3 mike gravel road, would recommend doing it in reverse!

Really fun to hike along the stream and waterfall. No real “views” of the valley, more of a pure nature and challenging hike with rock scrambles

I really enjoyed this hike. Well marked and pretty, the red is a stroll to a small beach with fossil hunting and nice photos on the way. Orange trail is very secluded and peaceful, narrows at time but easy to follow, some uphill for a good workout. Didn’t see any animals. $5 to park. Nice treasure in Lusby.

on Bull Run Trail

Great trail normally. Tried to hike it yesterday from Bull Run Park. The boardwalk when you initially start the trail was heavily damaged. You can get around the damaged sections without too much difficultly. The stream crossing beside route 28 was impassable.

A great way to really relax on a weekend
