beautiful views and good workout

Nice, well maintained trail. Especially enjoyed the trail at Ansel’s Cave, very scenic and pretty.

Tough initial hill, smooth sailing after that.

Like others have said, the markings were a little iffy at times, but overall it was a good trail. The parts that aren’t near the road are really peaceful and there was a great spot to stop & read for a while. I’d definitely do it again someday.

Hiked this 3 days ago, I also found it to be 5. 2 miles. Very nice hike.

This is a great hike. It is actually two trails together, Ansel's Cave and Pioneer Bridle. Beautiful to hike, some hills and tree roots. I would recommend poles if you hike fast. I found it to be 5.2m with link.

Rather beautiful for a walk in the city, with broad, mostly paved trails, wooded parts, meadows, a good vista of the lake a few miles away. No one else walking on a hot Labor Day afternoon. What looked like a good sized family reunion in one of the pavilion spaces.

The wooded trail areas seem to be unmaintained. Upper Highlands trail was unmarked and blocked by fallen trees. Small overlook of the east branch across from the playground was also unmarked and in need of some upkeep.

The all purpose trail, playgrounds, picnic tables, and basketball courts are popular and frequently in use, even during the work week.

Nice trail with woods, a few small waterfalls, and the deer lick ‘cave’. The directions take you to a wide shoulder where you can park. We parked at the Meadows Picnic area which is a more natural spot to start and finish.
Trail is well marked. Follow the red trail signs.
We went on a Sunday morning after an overnight rainstorm. It was muddy in some places. You have to keep you eyes on the trail as there was horse poop everywhere. There are 2 shallow stream crossings that you can navigate on rocks if needed. We maybe saw 10-12 other people, mostly runners. Some areas with mosquitoes, but nothing bad and we did not use bug spray.
The map shown on All Trails follows the bridle trail on the east side of the loop, which confused me for a minute until I zoomed in more on the map. Taking the marked deer lick trail the whole way clocked in at ~4 miles.
Overall my family enjoyed it.

I miss this trail. I now live in Florida and this was my go to running trail while I was living here. Great scenery and difficulty with the elevation changes.

One of my most favorite places to hike through! Gorgeous scenery.

this trail is so pretty, wildflowers and wildlife everywhere, neat rocks, small cave and neat boardwalk trail. dog friendly/kid friendly.

Good 4 mile trail. Some hills, 1 or 2 river crossings

Great hills to climb for a nice workout for a beginner.

Beautiful hike and beautiful falls.

Not difficult, and the river is easy to cross if you're okay with getting a little wet. By the falls, the river is deep e ought to swim!

This was an awesome hike. Very hilly terrain. Great scenery and good trail. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there were a few moments where the trail markers were unclear. Also, you do have to cross a few streets, but it is mostly deep woods.

Loved it. The end was kinda sketchy. We ended up behind the nature preserve building and walked the street back to the car. We lucked out and everything was dry. Would be pretty messy if it were all wet.

lots of bugs but beautiful boardwalk trail and cliffside to explore!

The whole trail is almost 5 miles, lots of hills! Great workout, and once you get past the nature center and construction it becomes peaceful and not too many people. You cross a few roads on the trail and walk along the path nearing the road for a few minutes, but mostly hiking in the woods. Lots of markers to keep you on track, and not end up lost or onto another path, like I do sometimes, lol. Some steep cliffs so be careful. Oh and I saw a coyote!

Today I went to Fort Hills Earthworks Trail which is made up of numerous separate trails that create a unorthodox loop. I added one extra lap on the far west end of the trail, using the short cut, for training. Quick hike that has a lot to offer.

I was looking to get down to the waterfall and made it there safely, but I’m an experienced hiker and had difficulty in certain areas near the river. If you’re going, either stick to the path or wear good shoes and make sure you’re ready for the challenge!

Really enjoyed the trails and the steps. Wow! Just don’t go after rainfall one of the trail was flooded over although I removed my shoes and socks to walk across it was only ankle deep but the bird trail was a bit muddy but walkable. Definitely recommend this trail.
