good hike or backpack to the top and camp overnight like we did. better be in good shape to hike this one, nice vertical ascends, some narrow areas plus a few wet areas. take emergency supplies with you if your just hiking, plenty of water, maybe some light first aid. there was only one problem we didn't have enough time to hike more. this is absolutely beautiful you have to see it for yourself. get out and enjoy our state and national parks. we are headed to Colorado next then back to the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains.

Amazing!! Me and my friends traveled in March 2018 and did this hike!! It is absolutely amazing! There was a lot of snow but the skies were cleared it was sunny and very nice. A bit slippery so if you are not very confortable with snow be careful. Bring food, a hot drink and gloves for sure!! We started the hike from the parking lot around 11:00am and by the time we were back it was about 5:00pm we spend a nice time at the cliff took some pictures and went back before sunset. A quick tip and an important one. Keep you eyes on the road always. Specially going down. The sun melts to top of the snow surfaces and it turns into ice. Sometimes “Black ice” on rocks which is hard to see. You can slip in a blink of an eye lol. Temperature was around 5C use light and warm enough clothes and bring an extra top just in case. Our food of choice was brown cheese, bread, chocolate and coffee. Anyways, have fun! And please! Respect the nature :)

Jonathan G,

Absolutely breathtaking from the bottom or the top Wonderful place to stay. no cell phone service is actually amazing. Nice break from the hustle of life! Have to see these rocks in person. Pictures don’t do them justice. Great weekend stay.

I loved this hike, we where there first part of November. The deepest part of the Narrows was just above the knee. We had rented the water gear at Zion Adventures. The water temp was 42 degrees and we where not cold at all, feet were wet the whole time, kinda felt like you had jello in your shoes! We hiked about 5 hours up and back. I will definitely do this hike again!!! The scenery was spectacular.

Aweosme hike. Brought the entire family along-deer in the stream-waterfalls-scenic spots-everything is surreal here!

Trail is a steady climb. Best views are past the warning sign on top of the rocks. It is dangerous. Be careful. Kids MUST be held on to. Views are awesome. If you are unsteady or unsure, use the viewing deck.

Absolutely amazing at the top! I'd hike up this trail every week and would never get bored, as I would still marvel at the beauty of God's creation!

Breathtaking views from the knob. Worth every step of the hike.

Malerweg 5. Etappe is a great sectionhike from Neumannmühle to Schmilka which You can walk within 3 - 5 hours (depending on Your physical condition) with great views (especially Goldsteinaussicht and Grosses Pohlshorn). You can also walk it from Schmilka to Neumannmühle (better stop then 200 m before at Buschmühle for a delicious fried trout "Forelle Buschmüllerin"). Have an awesome hike!

great view!

Make sure you bring water, it is a long hike!

I love McAfee Knob. View at the top is amazing. This is a bucket list hike for many people and for that reason I give it 5 stars however I urge everyone to go out and check out the other amazing hikes this area has to offer with hikes such as tinker cliffs, dragons tooth and sharp top.

well marked, travelled it my a 9 year old

Pictures do not do this waterfall justice! It’s beautiful and worth the long hike. It took about 4 hours to complete so to its distance but it was not a very strenuous hike. It had a couple hills but none too challenging for the everyday hiker. My girlfriend and I hiked it in mid winter and found that there were a couple more beautiful small waterfalls on the trail. Like a 4 in one hike! One of the most beautiful and our most favorite hikes of all. We’ve hiked many trails and seen many water falls and this is definitely one of our favorites because of the beautiful terrain and creeks and falls on the way in and the sheer beauty of the main falls. Absolutely stunning.

I did this hike in late September. Weather was 90 degrees, but the water was 62 degrees, and cold. The Narrows path is a paved trail along the river that ends at the entrance into the Narrows canyon. I would strongly suggest renting the neoprene socks and hiking shoes in town, along with a hiking stick. Your hike will be much more enjoyable if your feet aren't freezing cold (we didn't and wished we did). Stick definitely helps with your balance. Don't underestimate things in hiking up this river. The Narrows hike up the canyon is an incredible hike and unlike anything I have ever done before. The scenery and environment is spectacular and a MUST do at Zion. The place is very crowded, which is a draw back. But is it still worth it.

Hiked it yesterday starting from the Indian Henry trailhead. As far as trails go...meh. It’s not nearly as challenging as stated above and I’m not in particularly good shape. No snow but tons of ice so be careful

The good: it’s not too far from Portland and easy to find. The old growth and views of the river are beautiful and there are some great camping spots.

The bad: it’s not too far from Portland. I went on New Year’s Day and ran into 7 people, but I’m guessing any other day of the year the place is overrun with Subaru man-bun instagramers. Also, the trail never veers very far from highway 224, So you’re always in ear shot of Kenny-ray and his big ass diesel Chevy tearin’ down the highway. Lastly, a lot of the hike is under high tension power lines.

Overall...it’s meh

Hiked up the narrows. Rented gear to keep our feet warm and bodies dry. Did the hike with 4 kids ages 9-13 and 2 adults. Everyone loved it. Despite it being December and snowing lightly for part of the trip, we were warm as long as we kept moving. Wall Street was amazing and also hiked the other way towards veiled falls. Quieter going this way and equally wonderful! Steady traffic in and out but you also had moments where it was just your group.

Beautiful, easy walk that leads to good sized waterfalls. Our parents, who are older and not in great physical shape, really enjoyed the trail too.

Fun hike and easy.

One of the best hikes I've ever done. The hike itself is steady and fairly easy, not much to write home about. The view at the top is incredible and well worth it, even in the rain. Most photographed spot on the AT for very good reason. You can see the Blue Ridges in every direction and it was hard for me to pull myself away and hike back down.

Easy, steady hike up with lots of switchbacks. View at the top is gorgeous. The hike was a little boring and there were a lot of people even in the off season. Overall a decent hike, though. There's a neat little historical cabin on the other side of the parking lot, too.

It's a challenging but fun trail. I travelled alone and didn't manage to get to the subway due to the deep water. I made the return at the falls 3.9 miles from the trailhead. I saw a wolf-like animal (Coyote I guess) 10 m in front of me when I was back, which scared me a lot. Fortunately, it ran away when seeing me and didn't show up and bother me any more. The final climb up to the plateau was quite tough. I had to take several short breaks before reaching the top. Overall, it's a very good trail. I hope to try it again sometime in the fall.

Hiked this yesterday (December 19)! would recommend going at a different time than my group did if you have inexperienced members! One of my friends nearly took a plunge of some icy rocks. Snow also made it difficult to see crevices between rocks you could easily break your ankle in!! My group hiked up profile trail to Calloway peak, then took grandfather trail to the parking lot and hitchhiked back to the car. The views and adventure were absolutely stunning, but the trek is certainly not for the out of shape or faint of heart! One of the best trails I’ve hiked!

Great hike. Not difficult by any means and the trail is clearly marked. Try going early in the morning to avoid others. The photo ops at the top are stunning.
