I hiked this yesterday to evaluate for my wife, I am 68 and in very good shape but my wife has problems stepping down (knees) on steep step type grades. I went in on the south leg and back out on the north leg. There was a steep pitch down near the beginning that my wife would have trouble with. There are a few 4 and 5 ft smooth rock drops that require you to skid on your butt and boots. There is one 4 ft drop that you have to sit and jump down off the rock. These drops and jumps down are lower down in the canyon as you get closer to the 3 hot pools. Water temp was great but I walked past those soaking and climbed the 15 foot metal ladder down into the wash for another 1000 yards to the Colorado river for a lunch break. The north return trail starts about 20 yards above the fire rings, with only a small sign on metal post. As in the photos you will see yellow arrows pointing the way in confusing spots. There is a bit of steep up and down at the beginning but then becomes a smooth walk in the wash most of the way north eastward out of the canyon. When I return with my wife we will go in the opposite direction. This hike is a real gem !

The worst hike(walk) I’ve done so far.. walking on super soft sand pretty much the whole way.. great views but after a while it all looked the same and got boring.. got to the end and no natural bridge standing,, so was pointless to go there!! I would give a -5 starts if could!!

Stay to the left at the end and keep climbing, excellent views of the strip.

great place to hike

I’ve done this hike almost a dozen times, it’s my favorite to bring friends to when they come visit Vegas. The rock scrambling and lack of clear path makes it very dynamic, and the views both during and at the very end are just amazing. There’s a rock I just lay down on at the very end, letting me cloud gaze while getting the best view of the city. Best trail honestly.

awesome easy and great pics.

Really pretty short hike. I also climbed up the large rock close to the midpoint for some added interest and elevation gain. Very easy to do several of these short Valley of Fire hikes in a day.

Did the loop trail instead. Definitely recommend it over this super short one. Picturesque and fun.

Great hike! Did the whole loop, 3 good size hot spring pools.

Not too challenging! Beautiful views!

Fun trail. The hot springs are a really cool feature. I hiked this in October and the weather was perfect. I also hiked out to the overview.

great hike and awesome hot springs!

5 star hike, perfect hike to go with your family or amateurs hikers. Nice views at the end of the trail.

Super easy, family friendly. Not much to look at but worth a stop at least once.

I did the bowl of fire trail in its entirety and then some. It took 7.5 hours. The trail was filled with all that a sportsman can handle. Note: you have to be in great shape to do this trail. The trail starts moderately easy but then it gets challenging. Have gloves handy. There are hills, mountains; the open desert, valleys and amazing sandstone rock formations. What a view! Important: please note that the trail disappears once you go down to the valley. You will need your GPS on. Alert: turn on your GPS from home and leave it on. You will lose reception well before you get to your hike location and then you will not be able to navigate your way. Have a power bank for your phone. EXTRA EXTRA!!! I was nearly attacked by a big bird. Not fun. I came face to face with a coiled rattle snake which was about 4 feet and I was within 8 feet from it. It was about to attack but I ran a few feet to create distance and it also disappeared. They shake the end of their tails when you're close so you'll always know if they're around. Please don't let that scare you. Enjoy the trail. Have fun. Take water with you and above all, be safe.

Trail closed at 3rd tunnel - we did not see any signs that it was closed until we got to that point. Tried from the Hoover dam side the next day and again there were no signs that the trail was closed. We hiked to the first tunnel and found the gates closed so could go no further. Terrible communication from the park service.

Nice hike took my wife and I 1 hour to get to top. Great views of Vegas. My 50th birthday hike. Life is GREAT!

Neat trial heavily traveled. Just about right for my wife and I. My 50th birthday and made it to the top in 1 hour. Great view of Vegas!

This hike was fantastic! It’s my favorite hike I’ve ever done, actually. Make sure you bring a lot of water (1 gallon per person). It has a nice parking area and you begin the hike under an overpass. We took the south route down and the same route back as we struggled to find the other portion of the loop (and the map at the parking lot is confusing as it’s upside down), but the south route was great. This meant we went through the hot springs twice, which was fun. Hot water, stunning scenery and incredible slot canyons. Bring extra shoes and be prepared to get wet up to your knees. We made the whole loop in about 3 hours, and we were moving pretty fast. Absolutely worth it. Can’t wait to do this again.

another good one while visiting this park. all short hikes

By far the best views in all of Valley Of Fire. Hike up and enjoy the view! Enjoy a quiet picnic and don’t forget to leave nothing but footprints

Kid friendly!! My daughters hiked barefooted because it’s all sand. We found water at the end of the hike and several small caves.

Super cool trail with a great little slot Canyon! The rain had just hit, so the water was pretty deep in some places. We ended up wading through almost waist deep water in some places. Super rad hike though!
