Did the shorter Wedding Canyon > Lower Monument Trail loop (about 5 miles) and can't wait to go back and explore more. Still pretty warm even when technically the temp wasn't far above 70° but the trail was relatively easy (lots of young families out there). The trail had pretty heavy traffic in spots, so I'll be interested to see if it's as busy on the more challenging trails.

Awesome hike! Very strenuous especially with a 40 pound pack. Don’t listen to people saying you can’t climb through the last arch to make it a loop. You most certainly can, it’s just for experienced hikers.

Best hikes ever !

Great hike. Boring beginnings, but once you’re in the canyon, everything is gorgeous. Saw a large herd of sheep. Well marked and easily managed.

10/20/2018 - Hiked the main trail plus the Coke Oven side trail and a bit of the back side of Independence Monument, about 13.5 miles total. Trail and scenery is quite nice and the day was perfectly blue sky, not one cloud to be seen.

Nice quick steep hike with pretty views of Glenwood Springs & dog friendly.

Easy and nice and scenic. Short and urbanish.

Incredible views!

Great hiking trail just past Kid Curry gravesite if you desire to go further. First seems to go straight up and can be strenuous but after a short while there are small trails off to the sides that go back and forth and are more level if you don't desire going straight up. Hiked for a total of 2.5miles from TH before calling it quits due to half bottle of water

Good short trail, easy for young kids.

good trail. fun short downhill section at the end. not too steep for beginners.

Awesome Views! A must do hike if you’re passing through the area. Did the out and back since the lower trail was closed. Views get better and better the further you go down on the ridge.

Hiked from lower monument via the wedding trail to the upper monument and back. Approx 12 miles round trip. Would highly recommend! Views are incredible, terrain was easily managed by an amateur hiker like me. Start early while it's still cool out (I went 9/16) because it does get pretty warm during day. Bring LOTS of water as well. We did happen to see one big horn sheep too.

huge payoff. satisfying hike. stunning.

The loop is closed. You can hike the upper loop 6.5 miles for a total of 13 miles. Great hike!

Awesome run

This made for a great break in our 14 hour drive. We got the kids out and hiked up to Doc's grave. It was a nice easy hike. the views of the red rock were amazing.

four stars means that I would do it again. I will give it three stars because I would not do it again. Too many people. I like more solitude.

Rich history and hues. Love doing this hike in the fall.

beautiful trail. long, but not terribly difficult. I've hiked it several times, including the full loop. It's a popular hike, maybe the most popular on the Mesa. Got caught in a thunderstorm once up top, which wasn't entirely pleasant. Check the weather before you go! If you can, go in the fall - the aspens are lovely.

Nice way to see some of CNM's formations up close. Some shade along the trail but not a ton, so lots of water and starting early are musts in August. Unfortunately, not much wildlife our morning. We started at the upper trailhead and went to Independence Monument (~3.5 miles) before turning around and heading back. Note that this trail is ~12 miles round-trip (upper to lower trailhead or vice versa, then back) and not 6.8 or 10.9 as listed here.

A Hike With History-
Get ready for a little American history of the old West. Take a short walk up to the top of Potter’s Field in the town Glenwood Springs and discover some interesting history of some famous and not-so-famous folks. Besides the memorial of Doc Holliday and Kid Curry, you’ll see markers of those who served in the early wars and even a family of serial killers who ran a hotel. The hike is short, and there are some moderately steep sections, but they are few and you are rewarded with a nice view of the town of Glenwood Springs below.

Beautiful views & lots of trails from which to choose!

quite fab

Found this randomly by walking down Rio Grande river trail then via alleyways that cut through town. Pretty cool. The graveyard was neat.

Just a quick trek up the hill to a historic cemetery.

So stunning. What a treat. The bugs are only a problem if you slow down!

Great roadside stop on our way to Moab, UT. 85° day and we started to break a sweat near the top. great view of Glenwood Springs and the valley. there were a dozen or so people on the trail with us. The path is dirt and rock, daily steep up and down. good shoes recommended!

Spoiler Alert.....They aren't sure which grave Doc is in. wha, wha!
