12/8/2018 - My 86th hike to the top was great. I started at @7:30am and the trail was frozen and icy so I wore my Kahtoola Microspikes all the way up. Lot of snow halfway up however the trail was easy and well packed from previous hikers.
Warning! There's a big dead tree laying across the trail @10-15 min after the trail t's off (at the top of Fatman's Loop). It looks precarious and ready to slide further down. If that happened, I'd hate to be below! I'm reporting it to the Forestry Service because it's a definite hazard. I'll include a photo here. Because of the snow, it took me 1:25 to reach the top (not counting 3 short breaks) I've hiked it as fast as 1:10 in better conditions.

Great hike,

This is such a cool slot canyon hike! Went at the very end of November and a lot of the creek was completely iced over. But if you’re slow and careful, you can still see a good bit of the slot canyons! The road to get there is pretty rough, but definitely do-able in AWD.

A nice hike with wonderful views of Las Vegas and the Red Rock Canyon. I was disappointed in the various trail markers that got confusing and/or over-abundant (too many people marking it up).. I would do this hike again

Fantastic trail with wonderful views of Las Vegas, Red Rock Canyon and the La Madre Mountains. A variety of terrain, great views along the way and a terrific endpoint at the peak make this a fun and interesting trail.

Most challenging hike for me to date. when you get to the top, that's the reward! I felt amazing conquering this lil mountain!

Nice hike but I was expecting a different look at the liberty bell location. I would like to do the hot springs part of this hike next time.

One of my first good elevation hikes. An amazing old tree close to the end.

Tried to backpack to the hot springs but it was really sketchy. First found ourselves at a 330 ft drop, so had to turn around and find the alternate route, which led to a really loose and steep scramble down for about half a mile. We ended up camping at the bottom of all that because it was difficult to fit and carry our backpacks in the wet, loose rocks. Will try again without the packs, maybe this is better for a day trip?

Path is very well mark. The scramble is well worth it for the view down to Vegas.

This hike is very challenging. There is a ton of scrambling up rocks, loose gravel and steep terrain. Thank plenty of water and use dots that are sprayed on the side of the rocks to get to the ridgeline. Overall, the view is totally worth it.

Short Steep Hike - lots of fun, but bring 30-40% more water than you think you need (We did this in November when it was 80 and still ran out of water on way back). I wouldn't recommend doing this in the summer unless you start before sunrise.

Follow the markings once the trail becomes less clear, they are painted on the rocks. The general path stays low near gully, on the left side. If you are FAR left on that hill, you are off the path. Have fun and take pictures!

Great distance for travelers staying in Flagstaff! I went up on a Monday afternoon with not too many people along the way. The incline gradually gets steeper and steeper and the air thinner and thinner. Visiting from WA, this trail felt like a typical incline, though the elevation is always an adjustment. Views are amazing and getting up to the lookout tower is worth it! Though the gate to climb the tower was closed when I got there, it’s still an amazing view from the ground! Took me just under 3 hours with stopping along the way, I also clocked in at 5.7 miles RT.

Hike took 4 hours with a half hour stop at the summit. Beautiful views of canyon and strip. We went on a Sunday without much foot traffic once you past the first mile bring plenty of water and a snack

This hike was tougher than I expected. The trails was difficult to stick with and I think I added at least an extra mile wandering around. It was an interesting and fun scramble though and the view from the top was much better than expected! Don’t forget the sunscreen and water!

The hike was great. Not a lot to see on the way up but the view from the top is magnificent. Lots of loose footing so watch you step

Couple of areas where trail markings were not clear but the payoff....WOW! 360 panorama of the Vegas basin and Red Rock valley. Awesome!!! Worth the effort.

One of the nicest views and hikes in the area. Some of the trail isn't well marked, I heard it is now so going back next month to do it again. It's not well shaded so make sure to wear a hat, sunscreen, and water. Parking wasn't abundant so you'll have to wait for a spot or park on the One-Way road around Red Rock Canyon.

Started at 6:30am and had the place to myself! Took about 3.5 hours total including a 30 min break at the top. Toughest part of the hike is the middle portion...really gets your heart pumping. On the way down, be careful of loose gravel. Even being cautious, I still almost busted my butt a good 5 or 6 times (didn’t have any problems on the way up). Loved this beautiful and challenging hike!

I really liked this trail. Cathedral Gorge is a really unique place and this loop trail is the best way to see it. Took me a little bit less than 2 hours to hike it and I stopped frequently to take photos. It’s a very easy hike and the views are worth it. Wear sunblock if it’s warm out because there is no shade whatsoever on this trail. Also, most of the hike is in the washes that run through the gorge so wear shoes you won’t mind getting really muddy. The scenery is not on a huge scale, but it’s kind of refreshing to be able to do something on a smaller scale.

Good morning hike before work type of trail.. just bring a bottle of water.

Good views overlooking the city of Flagstaff and surrounding hills with pretty aspen's at the top. A fairly busy/popular trail. A decent and steady incline makes for a great workout (my app clocked the route as 5.7mi up and back). Lots of switchbacks... glad I wore my sturdy rubber bottom hiking shoes, as it's gets rocky in parts, definitely saved my toes and makes for a quicker descent.

The trail was well marked all the way up. It was a little technical in some spots if you don’t hike regularly. I personally had no problem, except for the fact I’m a flat lander from Missouri. I had to stop a take a few breaks, but I still made it to the top in two hours. I only drank maybe two liters of water. I would definitely hike it again.

This was a mostly level hike up a stream bed. There was only a small stream in October, but without waterproof hiking shoes, feet would still have been wet! Great, rewarding and relaxing hike; lots of slot canyons, two waterfalls, and wonderful fall foliage.

we had great fun, no too difficult, but hard enough and terrific views! absolutely word while!

good views
big workout! A lot of bang 4 the distance!

Take water and trail snacks! Tricky and challenging climb, and the view at the top is great but plenty of terrific views all the way up. The decent is a whole different group of muscles, so a terrific overall workout. Don’t miss this one!

Great workout for your legs and lungs.

This is a great hike with amazing 360* views at the summit. Well worth the time and effort.

October 6th hiked up there to look at the Autumn/fall leaves. Trees looked pretty. The lookout tower was also opened so we went up there as well to capture some great pics.

Bring some hiking sticks and a jacket. It gets windy and cold, and the hike is indeed hard.
