Great hike with family. Good incline, total hike felt more than 3.2 miles. Shade on lower part of trail. Beautiful views of the ocean!

Bring lots of water. It was very sunny when we went. Great views.

Beautiful views! I recommend skipping the fire road and going out and back among the actual trail. It’s Less steep, has better views and more shade.

Made it to the Buckhorn Day Use lot at 9am and had no problem parking. Only ran into 4 other people on this trail.

I logged this at 6.5 miles. Did some bouldering at the peak. Lots of fun!

We really enjoyed this trail. If you're not in a hurry stop at all the lakes along the way, it's well worth it. We didn't find it too strenuous but we were only packed for a day hike.

lots of wildlife! we saw woodpeckers, lizards, a rattlesnake, squirrels, fish, birds and goats! the roadrunner trail scaled the mountain and didn't give shade so I didn't like that one but the bluebird trail was nicer- it went up really high! The lower areas have lots of shade and lots of water! no hobos, very clean trail, not crowded, lots of shade, free parking.

Easy, beautiful hike!

Wow what a butt kicker...Beautiful trail. Took the lower trail out ( this is the trail from the lower parking lot. It was shaded almost all the way to the top of Mt Wilson. I didn’t run into any bugs not even at the top. Up to the camp the trail is pretty moderate after that it’s all incline and you will feel it. We arrived around 6:15 am and there was only about 4 parking spots left. Not sure about the overflow parking. On the weekends there is a cafe open at the top of Mt Wilson and there are restrooms as well.

Beautiful scenic trail. I started at the mezcal trail head because the main trail head was way to crowded. It was a longer hike but well worth it.

Bring plenty of water! Worth the short detour for stopping at the reservoir and caves on the way.

This is a beautiful trail. I went with my mom on my birthday and there was a lot of people hiking and waiting to take pictures on the trail but it was well worth it.

It’s a short climb to a picturesque bridge with an amazing valley back drop. Truly one of my favorites!

Nice short hike with some great views. There are a few breaks from the sun as you pass through some valleys, but there is a lot of exposure. Not a lot of traffic which is always nice.

just finished this bad boy or girl.. its was a challenge!

If you want to avoid the Jeep trail and blowing dust use the Chuckwagon trail and park at the Mescal Trail Head parking. That will take you on about a 5 mile hike to Devils Bridge and back. If you are looking for a longer hike. Park a little farther down the road at the Chuckwagon trail head. (Across the street) and take the Chuckwagon trail in. That way. That hike had to be closer to 8 or 9 miles. But Chuckwagon is a nice hike in the trees frequented mostly by mtn bikers. As for the bridge there is nothing I can say that hasn’t been said 100 times. It is a spectacular view and you will meet plenty of new friends. It is tough at the top for us old folks with knees that don’t like bend the way they used to. But other than that it is a pretty easy climb.

like the rock canyons. nice hike

Moderate is a fair rating for this trail. Decent inclines but spectacular views. Not too crowded and plenty of water around if you have a filter.

Loved it!!!

A great hike for the early morning. The views are spectacular. You'll meet only a few people along the trail. I went on Labor day and only saw about 6 people. I started the hike at 7am and had the summit all to myself for a good 45 minutes. There is loose rock along the trail so good hiking shoes are a must. There is no parking pass needed, just park right in front of the trail head on the side of the road which has a metal bar across it. Dogs are allowed so pack up your pup and have an adventure. The morning sunrise makes it so that you're in the shade on the way up, but definitely take a hat and plenty of water in warm months because there is NO shade whatsoever when the sun's out.

great trail. use sun protection

Beautiful view of Sedona

Did this hike for the 3rd time. Trail wasn't crowded. It's the first time I've done it without snow on switchbacks. It's my favorite Mammoth hike, safe for solo.

Cannot beat the view, but can be very busy!

One of the best place to go backpacking in California

the view was amazing. .. the trail was moderate with an incline. ..safe hike ya..

I'll start with the good then bad. Pros: Great breath taking views, devils bridge is one of a kind, and i love the steep challenge when you actually get to the trail. Cons: It's about a 1 1/2 of dirt road where trucks are constantly driving by, it was really busy on the trail at 8am (i highly suggest even hiking this around 6:30am), I got reached the top around at 9am and i just beat the crowd. After I took my photos it was about a 30-40 min wait to take pictures on that bridge. Do not go on the weekends after 8am.

The hike was fairly nice and there was nobody on the trail. Parking is difficult to get to if your coming from the north, because of the Uturn on the 133. Those exiting the 73 toll road tend to not stop/yield when turning right. I probably would not come again due to this.
