This was during the shutdown and gates closed. Only adds 4/10’s of a mile to the hike. Took the upper left trail and came back up the lower right side. Don’t pass this one up if visiting Garden of the Gods!

Great trail. Even has a cut through that reduces it by around two miles.

Great overlooks, beautiful water crossings!! Everthing a hiker wants. Some steep inclines and rocky areas as well as long flat walks though the trees. My favorite trail!!!

NICE TRAIL ..NEEDS BETTER SIGNS TO LET YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE AT, ALTHOUGH YOU CANT GET LOST..watch YOUR STEP ,LOTS OF ROCKS TREE ROOTS AND HIDDEN SMALL TREE STUMPS .ABOUT THE SIGNS THERE ARE SO MANY TRAILS GOING THIS WAY AND THAT ITS CONFUSING TO WHAT TRAIL YOU ARE ON.

Starts out with close shrubbery, but opens up quite quickly to a beautiful forest. Moves on to some rocky outcroppings, to cedar forest, and back. So peaceful and quiet. Elevation change is pretty gradual. Some muddy and areas but nothing terrible.

Great mix of hills and level areas. Muddy, slick, and narrow in quite a few areas but a good hike overall.

An overlooked gem. This trail offers some spectacular views and opportunities to explore off the trail.

Nothing wrong with it...just not memorable from all the ones we have done. Hard to find trailhead from parking area.

1st time on Matson-Oxen Trail combo. It will become a regular for us. Not hard-not easy. I like the flexibility to go 2, 5, or 7 miles depending on the trail combo you take.

This is a beautiful trail with diverse scenery. We did this hike on a warm January day, and it was so refreshing! The moss-covered boulders and babbling stream were magical!

Fun hike. A little crowded. Great for kids. Lots of side trails to explore.

Nice trail man.

This is a beautiful trail! Well kept but not very well marked in some places. However, the trail is fairly easy to follow.

Hiked in the winter, 35 degrees. Trail is well traveled and marked, easy to see even while covered in leaves. Some trail markers are faded and few grown over into the trees and it also has 2 red trail markers in the loop portion. Some small trees fallen across trail (nothing to big to step over), but I was out there in winter. With the connecting trails you make the hike as long as you like!! Overall a great trail to hike!!

Very beautiful but beginning to become run down due to increased foot traffic. Lots of garbage left everywhere.

This was a great hike!! The trail markers are fantastic. Save your lunch break until you get to the small waterfall about 4 miles in. I will definitely do this Trail again.

Well blazed, but it was hard to see the path so we really had to focus on the blazes had to be careful near the rocky parts because it was raining.

Well-marked trail with no muddy spots to avoid and moderate changes in elevation. Made a 5 mile hike of it by parking in Glencoe and taking the Hamilton Carr trail.

This is my go-to workout trail.

One of my favorite places to go. When you catch it at a good time, the waterfall is amazing. It’s a very easy walk (and short) to get to the back, and once you are there you will want to stay and enjoy it!

Hiked in late December- with my 4yr old- the bridge at the beginning is missing so it is good to wear water proof shoes. There are 2 creek crossings and we all made it with dry feet but being December I was a bit nervous about shoes getting wet in cold. We look forward to going back when wild flowers are in bloom. My Apple Watch said the trail was 3.8 miles - its new so I don't know if the trail is really that long or if my watch is off.

Spend time camping in this area. Backpacking is good here, though I had trouble finding the primitive camping spots.... and the trails keep you moving and looking for more!
The sunsets are beautiful and the stars are bright here.

Cool trail with lots of historic sights

Hiked in late December so the views were open to the other hill tops. We are going back in summer and take advantage of creeks!! A nice quick hike!
