Great family hike, most of it is a well worn trail with easy grades. The lake is stunning and the views there are breathtaking! It is well traveled and I saw wildlife! I would highly recommend it for a family with Colorado kids or a first hike when you need to ease into our high mountains. There is a fee but if you have a parks pass it is free

We really enjoyed this hike today! Quite a workout for us with the elevation gain but was worth it. We did have a 4wd vehicle so we were able to get almost all the way to the trailhead. If not it would take a lot of the enjoyment out. We only saw two other couples all day. One couple was on their way down from the summit of Massive. Yes there is a trail to the summit that breaks off about halfway up and has a sign. Saw a few mountain goats and deer and the scenery at the 1st Lake is enjoyable.

Awesome hike with amazing fall colors and waterfall at the end.

Great hangover hike, like really wow. Ample free parking.

It’s a great hike - for sure moderate but... def prepare for the winds after the first mile or so - amazing views!

Like many of the other reviewers, I underestimated the difficulty. The good news is I downloaded the tracks so I had them available. Scrub oak was everywhere and I’ve got lots of scrapes but it was worth it. Beautiful views, several lizards and two prairie rattlesnakes were my reward.

Note to self: get better boots

No goats ... no sheep.

Amazing hike! Trail is well maintained and the views are extraordinary. The aspen were in peak color. Columbine Lake is a treasure—make sure you start early, bring some lunch and enjoy the lake views. Road to Junco TH is bumpy so take it slow.

BEAUTIFUL aspen trees right now (September 14). Easy-to-follow, challenging hike for an old fart like me!

This trail had a little bit of everything: forest, above treeline tundra, views, and wind. Since the trailhead comes off Berthoud Pass, it suppose it could get a little crowded. We went Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and saw 20-30 people. But it's a nice moderately challenging hike, and worth it!

Fun trail that had a great mix of flat dirt road and some intense rocky uphill climbs (I went counter clockwise). I am newer to trails, but I am guessing that if my 2000 4Runner (3” lift and 33’s) was stock, I’d have some potential dings/damage underneath from one to three spots.

Nice and shady but also not busy at all

Beautiful lake and relatively easy hike. Just before the lake it’s easy to lose the trail. Stay right and it will pick back up. Be sure to follow the trail all the way around the lake for some stunning views. Some other hikers saw a couple moose up here yesterday (9/8) so keep an eye out.

Nice easy hike when you are short on time. We didn’t do the whole thing because of that reason, but it’s an easy hike up. Nice views of the city and mountains in the distance. Great workout

It was a good trail for hiking. Lots of rocks, didn't wear the proper shoes for this trail. Very nice work out and got the blood pumping. Would do this hike again.

This a nice trail without too many rocky parts. My GPS shows 12.8 miles. Did this hike on a Saturday starting at 8:20am. Very few people on this trail but saw a lot of fishermen at Betty lake.

Definitely a bit steep and rocky at points, but plenty of shade after the first mile or so. Narrow at some points with a handful of (in my opinion) brave bikers. View at the top of the Plymouth Mountain trail is worth it.

Great hike....incredible views

this really doesn't have much of a summit which was a bit dissapointing. I ended up hiking up too far to the air traffic control area at the very top and had to pull up Google maps with the service I had. i found descending about two to three switchback down was the peak of Colorado Mines. didn't see many people go up at about 8:30 took me about an hour and a half up and then going down I saw loads of people and it took me half an hour.

Awesome hike! Excellent payout

Nice workout and decent views

This was a good alternative to Mount Massive, which weather was bad for on Sunday. Seemed longer than 5.4 miles from the trailhead. Did enjoy the great views and scenery along the way, the trail can get a bit confusing when you enter the tree line on Northside of open field. Download the all trails map so you follow off line. no cell phone coverage avail. Also never found the second lake. Still very enjoyable!!!

Great hike with a rewarding falls at the end. Saw several deer. First half, beginning at discovery trail at Bonfils, was easy. The trail then climbs through fairly rocky areas. Path is well marked and mostly shady. Mileage if starting at Discovery Trail is a bit more than stated.

Really a great hike, easy in the beginning and more moderate toward the top. The second waterfall is really beautiful albeit a little challenging to get to. Definitely worth the scramble up. Lots of fallen trees had been cleared. I started at the trailhead at Denver Waterworks Road and did the walk to Bonfils at the end, but could have skipped that part. All in all a fun hike!

Easy to do in one day if coming from Denver. Much cooler than driving to the top of Evans. Great views of the landscape above tree line. Warning: Avoid this hike if you are squeamish about sketchy mountain roads.

Not a big fan of this trail. It was very rocky, hard to follow, and once you get to the "top" it is just a small area surrounded by trees. No spectacular views like I was looking for

the path walking is so beautiful! I feel sad that unfortunately I didn't find the hike trail, as I see that so many here did find. Hope in the future someone will post pictures that shows the begin of the trail to hike and make give some specific directions. Anyway, it is totally worth to visit this place! I loved it.

Great trail all around. Has some tough parts - although admittedly made tougher by the 25 lb baby on my back, but it's beautiful when you get up there! Great for dogs (Meadowlark can get narrow for passing purposes). Lot of fun!! we shall be back!

This was a beautiful hike! We went on a Saturday and passed maybe 20 people all together, so was fairly light traffic. The first 3 miles were fairly easy and the last mile was definitely moderate. You reach a waterfall around mile 2.8 and it’s very lovely, but make sure to keep going until the end because that waterfall is even better!

Nice trail
