Worth the little bit of a climb. Very beautiful views at the top!

Amazing panoramic views. Incredible sunset and easy quick get down under darkening skies. Good for dogs and wide summit.

Fantastic hike, a must do in Sedona!!! Our B&B host recommended this, and we loved it! A quick hike (including rocky scrambles), mostly in the shade, with a stunning view at the end and lovely desert plants. When you think you’ve reached the end, keep going... highly recommend. :)

Very fun hike and amazing views!

Nice views. Easy.

Was a beautiful hike all the way up! Once I made it to the top I was able to explore the whole top of the mountain while the sun was setting. Just had a little trouble finding where to get back down. Once you find the entrance to get off the mountain then it’s not bad at all. Fantastic views!!

great views for not that much effort. enjoyable to walk around the entire summit.

Pleasantly surprised as we continued to climb. Some switchbacks but a gradual climb until the last .2. But it is an amazing hike. Once at the top, so many awesome views that are breathtaking. Once on the Mesa, it can be difficult to follow a trail since they are unmaintained. Pay close attention to where the trail ended at the top for you will need to know where to go to find your way back down. Can be difficult to find the trail going back down but so worth the climb. Tough on the knees going down.

Im not a fan of switchbacks but this one only switches a few short times. Beautiful views to the west on the way up. Also up on the mesa you can walk around and find a million spots to sit, eat lunch and soak in the Sedona views. Moderate only in that there are a few spots where you need to climb up some rocks to get to the too. My wife is a little afraid of heights and some areas made her nervous but she made the entire hike and enjoyed it.

easy climb to spectacular views. map trail ends at top but keep going on the trail across the mesa.

We loved this moderate hike . About 45 minutes up to a beautiful plateau. Amazing scenery .

This is more like a 9 mile round trip hike. You hike about a mile up an old logging road before getting to a sign indicating a turn off the road. That sign states the its 3 1/4 miles from that point to the peak and lookout. So, it’s definitely more than a 5 mile round trip solely based on that. The logging road is easy hiking, but the switchbacks to the peak are a steady pitch. It’s well worth the effort as the views at the top are absolutely breathtaking!

Nice trail but Rocky on spots. Great views.

Very nice hike through large pines with great lake views. As previously stated can be done as a 2ish mile loop.

Absolutely beautiful views from the top of this mesa. Perfect trail in the morning, as it remains in the shade for quite a while.

Beautiful view of the sunset. Left the trailhead around 5pm and made it to the top to spend about an hour until sunset. Definitely recommend!

Fun short hike up to some gorgeous vistas, and there is a great view on all the switchbacks all the way up. On the easy side of moderate, much easier than cathedral rock. A local told me to continue along the trail end and hike around the rim at the top, which allows you to see some stunning different views. If you go in the morning trail is nicely shaded much of the way.

9/5/18, A.M.
First time, should not have done. My fear of heights and falling got the better of me. Was fine until hikers stopped to talk to me. Made it about 1/2 way up then, after chat, my brain reset itself and I found myself about to have a panic attack! So I went back down.
I’ll keep to easy/lower trails. :-)
However, the view I got was awesome!

One my favorite hikes in Montana, bonus if you can scramble to the top and look from Ksanka ridge!

Good workout, fantastic views from the top. Usually not crowded if you start in the morning. Think of combining it with Fay Canyon just up the road.

gorgeous hike especially early in the morning.

We found this to be easier than cathedral. Both are worth it. No one at doe mountain this morning. It was spectacular and so quiet. I guess you gotta get high to get away from it all! Definitely worth the hike. Early morning is best!

Great early morning hike.

Really like this hike. Fairly shaded in the forest for most of the way up. Nice scenery wile ascending through the forest but where this hike really shines is at the lookout on top of Stahl Peak. You can see forever in all directions. Nice little lookout shelter with a wood stove and windows all around. You could actually stay the night here if you were so inclined. Funny Marmots ( I call them whistle pigs) on some rock faces just before reaching the top. The hike out and back is actually 7.5 miles long, not 5 as listed.

Great, hike. Moderate, some climbing required

My family and I hiked the trail this morning, before the rains came in. We had a range in age from 9-68. Everyone was able to complete the hike successfully! Absolutely breathtaking views from the top! We walked the entire thing, with breaks, in 2 hours. Highly recommend!
