Perfect day for snowshoeing! We called it a rollercoaster trail because of the ups and downs but it was a great short hike with the pup!

Hard packed to split. Floatation was ideal after as postholing was unpredictable.

As another review stated, snowshoes weren’t necessary until the split. The trail is packed hard and wide. Lots of people and off-leash dogs (most under control and near their owners, some not. Off-leash is allowed here. ). Beautiful scenery on both ends of the split in the trail!

Did this hike on 12/28/18. Snow shoes not necessary for the first mile and a half. After that, they aren’t necessary but would be helpful. Snow is pretty deep after the split in the trail. We arrived around 9:15am and only saw a few people on the way out, everyone was on snow shoes or back country skiing/boarding. Got back to the parking lot around 11am and it was busy. Lots of off leash dogs running around. Absolutely amazing views, definitely recommend this hike!!

Really enjoyed this hike! It consists of rolling hills. I used snowshoes but probably could have just used cleats.

Very quiet and beautiful with lots of snow

Very pretty. We did it the weekend after Thanksgiving and there was plenty of snow. It was very busy midday. It was not very strenuous and a great first snowshoe for my out-of-town family.

Absolutely beautiful. Steady-ish incline, but not too challenging for any beginner hikers or out of town guests. Take it at pace for a more challenging hike for anyone. Views are amazing the entire way, but especially at the end when you get to the split of the trail, to either head to the old mining cabins for spectacular views at the base of the mountain, or up the extra steeeeep leg for an additional .5 mile of upward switchbacks for another amazing view over the ridge.

Packed snow trail to the cabins and great views for the flatlanders.

Hard packed snow up to the mining camp. Could have walked with boots/spikes. But we snowshoed for fun and for the exercise. Plenty of snow for breaking a new trail in the cirque area. Beautiful, sunny day. Great place for awesome pictures!

Beautiful!

Frisco trailhead to the lake and back. Absolutely gorgeous snowshoe hike. Met two moose on the way.

This is not easy if you are not in shape. I was ok but a relative was not. It’s a beautiful hike with an ending at a snow covered lake!

Absolutely beautiful.

hiked this on Saturday 10/27 with a friend and puppy. we are in shape, but took our time. 3.5 miles round trip in an hour and 45 minutes. great views at start and end along with shadowy fields of pine trees. limited parking at wildernest start on a weekend.

Hiked this today, 10.18.18. Spikes needed only to ghost town but if you want to hike to ridge line, you will need snowshoes. Snow is deep about .25 miles on the trail to the right beyond wood gate. I postholed to my knees and turned around. Beautiful though.

Hiked this on Monday, after a snowfall from the weekend. You get great views of several different ranges on a very easy, well-marked trail. I've hiked all over this damn state but this was my first moose sighting! A mother and baby grazing right at the trailhead. The trail does not require spikes as of 10/15/18.

Wandering through the ghost town and up to the summit was wonderful.

Loved every part of this hike. Of coarse I’m from flat Dallas, TX and this was my first hike of my trip out here. Beautiful, minimal traffic.

Great easy hike! I did this in fall and the changing colors of the trees was very beautiful. You can algo get spectacular views of the Dillon, Silverthorne area. Good for families!

I would highly recommend this trail, loved it. Amazing views from summit. It is a bit of a slog thru lodgepole pines initially and I started to wonder how it would be but after about 20 min. it opens up to lovely views. I would recommend taking trail on right to summit, past gate. It is a bit of a climb but wait till you see the views, what a reward. I had a hard time leaving the summit. So beautiful!

Had a wonderful morning hike to Lily Pad lake. It was easy to take my dog (leashed) and there were some moose in the first pond on the trail.

Great for kids, amazing views, and super peaceful! A bit hard to find at times without the app. Signage should be updated. But using the record feature of the app helped us find the trail pretty easily. We loved hanging out on the shore and watching the boats, paddleboards, kayaks go by. We also saw geese, and threw rocks into the lake.

We snowshoed and it was a lovely hike, as described.

Great hike! I thought the main attraction would be the mining camp, but the views from the right hand trail summit were even more amazing. It’s a tiring but short climb to the summit from the mining camp. The fall colors are amazing right now and will only get better over the next week— definitely a great time of year to check it out.

Great easy trail, all the elevation is at the trailhead. Nice pines and watch for the chipmunks.

Easy walk to main mining camp - nice views.

Hiked from the trailhead to the Mayflower Gulch ghost town. 6 miles round trip. Easy Jeep trail to get up to the log cabins. Saw a marmot at the log cabins. It lightly snowed in the higher elevations but doesn’t look like it will last long.
