beautiful location, free parking, overall a great hike

Great place to getting some trail running in. Sort of narrow in some parts and people like to ride their horses in the area so be careful.

Really beautiful and a nice couple hour workout

Took our dogs with us on this hike. Fairly easy. Was adequately marked except when we had to walk in the road.

Beautiful open space, lots of options to deviate for harder or easier hike, nice views of river, hills, wildflowers. Highly recommend to extend the trail via west ridge loop.

A spectacular 8.5 mile loop trail, generally well shaded, around an alpine lake. Parking is available on Mormon Emigrant Trail for a $5 self-pay day use fee. If you park inside the park (entry is just east of the cut off for Emigrant Trail), the day use fee is $13, but you can get a park / trail map at the entry station. The trail is decently marked at most places. A couple parts of the loop, especially down by the dam, force you onto roads where you’re competing with cars. Lake levels are down a bit, which lets you trim a mile or so off of the full distance at the upstream end of the lake if you stray from the trail a bit and brave some mud flats. We’ll be back: this one’s going on the regular rotation.

Moderate easy and dod friendly. Runs along the American river so there are places to stop for the dogs or relaxation.

Great view throughout. A lot of shade but also a lot rocks scattered along the path. Easy parking. Very clean area in general.

Great trail with mildly steep inclines broken up with flat/easy terrain. Definitely come on a clear day for incredible views of the city. Free parking is available at the Quarry Picnic Area.

Beautiful Trail! First half is downhill, second half mostly up. I ended up coming back on the West Ridge Trail instead of the French trail and this worked out fine, just a bit of extra elevation. Plenty of spots to cut through back to the French section if desired. Not too many people on a weekday and nice and shaded.

Love this trail for horseback riding and hiking. Has been getting busier on the weekends with cars in the horse trailer parking.

The water in the cave is never warm, regardless of the time of year. But very beautiful if you are brave enough to go through. Bring water shoes! This is not a running trail unless you want to bust an ankle.

Went here for a hike with my boyfriend and he proposed to me at the end of the hike at glacier lake! Couldn’t have been better! Trail itself was maintained good, mostly dirt, sand, some granite but not as much as we expected. Passed a lot of beautiful lakes along the way. Saw zero people on way up and only a few at the end. We went on a Friday morning though so likely more populated summer / weekends. Brought our dog. Off leash no problem ! Lots of squirrels and chipmunks. Beautiful lakes, good tree coverage, fall colors, scenic overlook. Was not a difficult hike at all. Very gradual inclines. Hadn’t been hiking once this year but have done multiple backpacking trips in our past. This was a perfect gradual reintroduction to getting back in nature. Lots of camping spots.

We took a 2001 Camry down the road, made it the whole way. Definitely would have been easier in a 4 wheel drive car or a car with higher clearance. Wouldn’t recommend taking a little car. The road was ok but the very end had a huge drop off ditch that was tricky to navigate. But we managed ! If it was rainy or had been a wet season the road would have been a lot worse.

The water in the cave was numbingly cold mid-October but me and my 5 yr old still dared to jump in. It was an easy hike and a nice time down in the cave. Very fun, family friendly hike. Take towels and a floating device if you plan to brave the waters.

Went for a trail run, weather was warm, trail was perfect. There are bathrooms at the parking area and down by the river. All very clean, nice to have. Down by the water and a couple of places along the trail there are shaded sitting benches and even some picnic benches.

Great hike, easy to moderate. Unfortunately the mine is now blocked off, however, there are many accommodations along the trails including porta potties and tables.

This was a great hike. We did it in early spring, it rained just a bit the last 1/2 mile and there were snow flurries by the time we got to the car.

Nice 4h hike, decent views of the river

Good cardio trails with my dog

The river water was a little bit too cold for us in October but we did watch other people swim through the “cave“ to the other side back.

Whew! Highly recommended!

Awesome surprise at the end. Swimming in a cave!!

Some nice coastal views towards the middle/hills but otherwise not that scenic

Beautiful hike, liked the shade of the trees and being near the water. Has some steep spots but mainly easy trail. Lots of friendly hikers and mountain bikers on trail.

Starts off easy enough but gets challenging on the bottom half. Especially the French trail section.

Beautiful morning hiking!!!! I thought we’d be closer to the river, but we still had great views. Would be a easy hike for kids

This is a good trail for a light to moderate hike. There are some little inclines to get up that are a bit rocky. abouy two miles in to the cave. The cave is awesome. Very cold water but you can float or swim through. The other side is open and we climbed around to the other side.

A nice place but ALOT OF PEOPLE. Stream trail is basically a paved walkway. A lot of big groups. We did have a nice picnic

Had a great time camping lake side for two days. the second day did the hike to the waterfall and it was not running. kind of a disappointment. but beautiful park and camp grounds!!!!!! the only other thing was all the hornets. made cooking breakfast a bit challenging, but they where all gone by dusk. Would go back for sure.

Nice hike. We took a small trail above Robie Point and saw some old home foundations and an old fireplace aching an old brick pathway around the house. Pretty cool.
