Even though this hike is a must see for Honolulu/Oahu it's not much of a "hike" good elevation and workout with a view, that's it.

* WAY too touristy. Lots of folks who have no business going up will be there. No trail etiquette in the slightest
* Paved all the way up. Badly at that. Times were you will trip and fall
* If you're a hiker, take the "hard" route when it comes up. Stairs to get the blood flowing.
* Views are great. Crowded. Tourist spot in tight quarters.

Creds. AllTrails Pro - amazed people hike with out Pro version. Pro version bulletproof for not getting lost. Extremely easy to get lost on this trail without Pro version. Only $30 annually and no internet required. There is no internet service when you enter the Angeles National Forest. Yes trying to make a point.

10.4 mi, 1,699’ El Gain, 4:45 minutes travel time.

Adventure Pass required. $5 one time or $29 annually (the one I have)

Parked 8:am Saturday 8 Dec 2018. Gorgeous day with significant flowing river %85 of trail from rain 2 days ago. Expect to cross river 3 to 4 times getting wet up to knees (I’m 5’8).

Definitely doing this hike again!

good trail. Took my dog and all went well. Hiked up to where you start climbing over some rocks to get the waterfall, but decided to turn back after a family said there wasn't any water. hopefully that changes soon, definitely want to come back when there is water

It is an easy hike, however, it has a narrow path at some points of the hike and there are points where there is oncoming traffic (due to it being heavily crowded) and u cannot pass the person in front of you. Took about 20 minutes to reach the "summit". The whole path is paved. Entrance Fee- Not sure about the Parking fee, but I hiked up to the gate it self and it was a dollar. On Saturdays, if you go in the AM for the hike, you can enjoy KCC famers market right around the corner.
The stairs (towards the last part of the hike to reach up top) in the pictures are optional, but more fun. There is an alternate and an easier path as well. Definitely worth the view if you are visiting HI for the first time such as in my case.

Really fun hike! Has lots of great scenery and it's definitely a place I am going to go back to since we never got to finish it. I recommend for anyone to keep on checking your app/map to make sure you are going on the right path, it can get very confusing at times since a lot of the recent rain has washed away quiet a bit of the trail and the main big trail is blocked off from rock slides.

It was a very fun hike with beautiful views of the river and surrounding mountains. You do have to cross the river a couple of time which might result in you getting wet. The bridge is really nice and you’re allowed to walk on it and underneath, they also offer bungee jumping for $120 if you’re feeling spontaneous

I rate it low because despite the fantastic view up top, the trail itself it just one long paved route out in the open with nothing much to look at inside of the crater. After doing it I can’t say the view was worth the effort.

Beutiful hike, very fun. Most of it is shade, there is a lot of water so bring boots. You do need a day pass ($5).

Very crowded!! People let their dogs take a shit and they don’t pick up.

Go early to avoid the crowds! This was a great solo hike on a Sunday morning. I took a beat at the waterfall to do some writing, which was lovely until a chubby kid took his shirt off, started yell-singing the milkshake song and then jumped in the water. Which he somehow didn’t expect to be cold. You can try to get out of LA, but you’ll never truly escape :)

Great intermediate hike. Recent rains made the trail a little hard to follow sometimes because of wash out and falling rocks / debris in a couple places. Tip of staying on main trail going in, keep the cliff to your right and stay as close to it as you can. Bungee jumping at the end!

This hike was a little more challenging than I thought in that the boulders were vertical but it was so worth it. Haven’t rock climbed like that in a long time. I definitely recommend hiking boots and pants as my son wore running shoes and shorts and his ankles and calves took a beating. I wore hiking boots and pants and was very comfortable sliding down boulders on the way down. No waterfall but still a lot of fun.

Nice enough to give it a shot. But please don't advise people to go "after a rain" without giving some head's up that means a good day or 2 with no chance of more rain. Most of the trail from the road to the falls is in a creekbed canyon subject to flooding. I worry since most hikers in the area only really know drought conditions. Too much road walking and too many inexperienced hikers for our tastes, but a nice hike nonetheless. Especially if you read up on the haunted history of he area beforehand.

Beautiful hike with lots of water to cross depending on the time of the year. Recommend to bring lots of water and snacks to make the whole trip.

Easy paved hike. Be aware this can get very busy. There is a fee to park and it fills up often. Nice view at the top.

Park opens at 7am on the weekends and 6am on the weekdays! Really pretty views from the top and it was very well maintained. Depending on where you’re starting, there’s a bit of an elevation increase. It was hard but, it’s pretty doable. Then after that it becomes a leisurely walk. Only a few shaded areas and the rest are mostly open, so I suggest going in the morning! Moderate amount of foot work.

Relatively flat first half followed by creek bed uphill climb progressively getting steeper with some bolder scrambling. In a wooded canyon. Pretty overall.

Do it as early as possible to avoid massive crowds. Finished by 9:30 and the tour busses were lined to get in. Views and stairs are worth it though, and this is more of an easy hike.

If you’re going on a weekend make sure to go early. It get packed real quick. Went 2 days after it rained and there was a lot less mud than I expected. Very beautiful hike.

Went hiking today, super easy hike. Great for kids too!! The falls was beautiful ✨

Once again a great hike with absolutely beautiful destinations! Sadly there seem to be more people not taking their trash and other items out with them. Some people left behind an air mattress, shoes, dirty clothes, bottles, cans and other trash. if you hike it in, hike it out or don’t bother going. It is a disgrace that some humans ruin things for others. I would agree that if you were going to have your belongings packed into the canyon for you that you should use the helicopter. There are still several horses and mules along the route that had bleeding saddle sores and other injuries. That stuff aside, it’s a place worth checking out if you are lucky enough to get a permit.

This was the most fun I have ever had. climbing down a cave then realizing I have to climb down using chains and then there's a huge ladder thats wet from the mist of the most beautiful waterfall. I faced my fear of heights. then we take the trail and get to take off our shoes and socks and make our way across the water not once but 3 times on this hike (and 3 times on the way back) when it seemed to never end we got to those final ladders to get up top above Beaver Falls and that feeling you get is just so worth the hike. Amazing view. Amazing feels.
Not ok for kids, adults only

Great for the pups! Easy parking. Less crowded during the week. Best after a rain.

Great hike for the family! It is moderately difficult because it is all uphill to get to the top, but if taken slow and steady it is for the whole family. Shaded in many spots, hot and sunny in others. Paved, but not even in most of the trail. Would not recommend strollers bc it is uneven and there are 99+ stairs you take to get to the top. The views are breathtaking though! Very heavily trafficked, but the flow goes pretty well and it wasn’t bothersome.

Hot hike during the middle of the day, but the views are worth it. Bring water.

I did this hike for a geography class, it was pretty, heavily trafficked though. The waterfall was beautiful.

I loved this hike. A little crazy because we lost the trail for a while but a totally fun adventure.

Fun quick hike with awesome views of Honolulu, Waikiki and Pearl Harbor. Uneven surface and some steep stairs but saw kids and flip flops so no big deal.
