Beautiful hike! Recommend hiking boots not sneakers. Several areas of crossing water on rocks and sometimes had to step in water to cross. Not dangerous, just wouldn’t think anyone would want wet sneakers. The whole trail has gorgeous views.

amazing views continuously unfolding and changing all the way. only saw one otger person on this Trail and then a few more on the summit that I think came from the other side. a good steady climb most of the way.

Much of the views are looking Southwest into the sun in early morning.

Much of the views are looking into Southwest into the in early morning.

Some difficult footing, I'd recommend hiking poles. This one's tough on the knees. Be prepared for you gain, loss, gain loss in elevation. A long one but well worth it. Great scenery and fall colors!

Awesome views and trail!

Nice fairly easy hike with some uphill, this hike is mostly shaded but not completely so bring a hat and sunscreen. If you are wanting to go to the Arches keep an eye out for a trial that will ver off to the right, it is not marked and VERY EASY TO MISS!

Remember to respect the environment and leave no trace.

When you get to the trail head it will fork off , go right! I have done both ways and the views are best when you go counter clock wise. Be warned you will have a nice up hill right off the bat that will keep you thinking " I'm I there yet?!" Once the up hill battle is over the hike will get easier. This hike will take you to beautiful views of Sedona. Also if you do the full loop you can see Soldiers Arches, Devils sink hole and Seven Sacred pools. Dog friendly hike as well :)

This is an incredibly special trail, though quite difficult in many areas especially for people like me afraid of heights! Particularly when the wind is whipping threatening to tear you off the rock face! Not for the faint of heart. Scenery is spectacular the entire trek. We went counterclockwise and at the bottom the sign reads: difficult, technical skills needed! One of the harder hikes, not moderate. Loved the excitement and beauty. Don’t miss this trail.

Must do if you are in the area! Nice loop trail with great views.

Awesome hike with killer views! I hiked it this past weekend as part of my training plan for Mt. Aconcagua in January. I climbed it with ease with 40lbs pack weight and my altitude training mask setting at 12,000ft. My moving time was just over 4hrs. Will easily shave off 30min with knowledge of the route and better planning.

The trail is not difficult at all. The reviews make it sound much more difficult than it really is, which is probably due to the distance and wind people experienced.

Has a good mix of climbing- that is, forest trails, rock trail, and tundra.

This is not a technical trail. It’s a trek needing only minimal equipment.

Do bring:

1. Micro spikes (at minimum) crampons do nicely. -Throw the yak tracks in the trash.
2. Trekking poles
3. Be ready for heavy wind
4. Helmet is a nice touch if you’re climbing solo
5. Warmer gloves than you expect

I highly suggest climbers unfamiliar with layering to seek advice before attempting. The temperature swing from the saddle to the summit is substantial. During my hike there were 45kt (52mph) winds. I saw a few groups of people who were inappropriately dressed and definitely put themselves at risk for frostbite.

All in all, a great mountain to hike and train on. Will do again soon!

11/10/2018 Trail was nice, however, if you follow the All Trail map the path turns on a foot path that is not maintained. This was not mentioned in the reviews . Very doable easy to moderate trail and we would do it again

Gorgeous views particularly as you reach the top. Have to scrabble a bit to reach the pass, and we definitely were feeling intimidated when the wind was blowing because the ledge to climb up wasn’t very wide, but the hike was worthwhile!

Great hike but parking options are limited. Parking lot was full before 9am on Sunday.

This is a phenomenal trail for one that is rated easy: incredible views within the first mile and very little elevation gain. If you have just one hour in Sedona this is the trail for you. Less than 3 minutes from Rte 179. We had come out of the Grand Canyon the day before and our legs were shot - this was the perfect easy trail to still get a taste of Sedona.

The only downside: the perfect solitude and quiet was obliterated first by a pink Jeep and then by a band of ATVs . Would have been a 5 star without that

Quick easy hike. Not as steep of an incline if you ascend from the north, or dump road trailhead. The caves were cool.

Fun hike with beautiful views. The hang gliding launch area was interesting to see. Moderate for most of the hike with above moderate in some areas. would definitely do it again.

Very beautiful, lots of shade and seen lots of Blue Jays

Yes just a road, but offers great views of the National Monument that you will not get in the park. Also a great place to run since the road is not technical. Would have been nice to visit when the lookout station was open. There was a sign posted that said you can go up there if a ranger is in the station.

Absolutely gorgeous! Excellent choice for those who want to practice hiking longer trails but without too much elevation gain. Also great for those without 4WD because you can park at snowbowl!

I love Boynton Canyon - beautiful red rocks and amazing positive energy throughout!

Amazing hike. We found the arch and cave off to the left when hiking down soldiers pass trail. So epic.

Was a long loop trail but so wonderful. Go counterclockwise at the loop.

If you can only do one hike, do this one. We took a left at the cow pie/hangover sign post, going counter clockwise around the trail. Bikes have to take the cow pie trail (right at the sign post) to get to hangover trail. I was glad to be heading towards bikers rather than having them come up behind us. The views are amazing. This is a challenging hike...not hard, but definitely on the more difficult side of moderate. It took us about 3.5 hours to do the 8+ miles. We weren’t hustling, but kept a decent pace.

This is a really easy hike with great views. Perfect for a sunrise hike.

loved this trail, though there is a lot of noise from the resort and some of the rocky areas make it more moderate than easy. great sunrise photos of color on the red rocks

Great distance for travelers staying in Flagstaff! I went up on a Monday afternoon with not too many people along the way. The incline gradually gets steeper and steeper and the air thinner and thinner. Visiting from WA, this trail felt like a typical incline, though the elevation is always an adjustment. Views are amazing and getting up to the lookout tower is worth it! Though the gate to climb the tower was closed when I got there, it’s still an amazing view from the ground! Took me just under 3 hours with stopping along the way, I also clocked in at 5.7 miles RT.
