on White Pine Lake Trail

Challenging trail especially in the snow because some areas aren't very packed so you end up knee deep or more. Most people choose the Red Pine Trail over this one because it's a little shorter and a little less steep. This one is more peaceful because there were no other hikers just two skiers. I'll definitely try this one again when everything is thawed out more.

Fantastic work out

Catching up on some reviews, so recognize that I did this hike in early September. Went with some friends to hike this on Labor day. Quite possibly the worst day to do so. The parking lot closest to the lake was filled, so we had to park at the ski lodge. We could have taken a shuttle from there to the real trailhead, but the wait was 45min+, so we started our hike from there. Very sunny, hot, and exposed for most of it, so be prepared. Also, there were so many people! This would have been much nicer if the trail wasn't so backed up. Didn't stay long at the lake because of how many others were already there. Other than the heavy traffic, this would have been a nice, short, enjoyable hike.

Loved this trail. Lots of beautiful scenery, and in late July the wildflowers were even more beautiful than the mountains! Ran into a moose sitting in the middle of the trail! It’s a bit of a challenge, but incredibly worth the effort!

Camping under mount Magog in the wildflowers was awesome! The lake is pretty neat and we saw some deer at dusk. Lots of good campsites, had no trouble finding one in July.

This is a stunning peak. We (unknowingly) went during the first snowfall of the season, but it was just a light dusting that made everything more spectacular in late September. Good for fall colors. We went up the east side and down the west side. I felt the east side was easier but I don’t know if that’s actually true. It was definitely more popular.

Very gorgeous hike, serval mountain lion tracks all over today, all different sizes. Posted some pics of them above, including one picture with some blood spots in the snow... some mouse or rabbit had just been breakfast before we got there...

Really cool trail, but it is very icy right now. You need good hiking boots or yaktrax or something to give you grip. We slipped several times.
Very pretty though!

We went on this hike a week ago. Started on the Dry Canyon Trail and went down battle Creek falls trail ending up in PG Canyon. Dry Canyon was pretty steep but much better than Battlefield Creek. It was well defined, and shaded some areas with beautiful views. Hiking to the summit was pretty easy compared to the rest of the hike. On the way down to battle Creek, a few switchbacks start the trail through some pines and a pretty meadow. Most of the way down you are close to the river. But then you cross it twice over some tree trunks. Further down the trail it gets reeeaallly narrow and steep. You end up at the Kiwanis park up main street in PG

It's about 8.2 miles this way. it took us quite a while because we had some younger kids with us, but they enjoyed it.

This is definitely an adult hike that would take between 5-8 hours easy. I would love to do it again. Planning on it in the spring.

Nice hike. Trail was icy and snowy for most of the hike. No wildlife today.

We got on the trail around 9 AM...only a few other cars in the parking lot. Trail is/was mostly visible due to previous skiers/snowshoers. Attempted to follow trail using AllTrails App, ended up cutting fresh trail for a while. Didn't make it the whole way up because the weather changed and snow was falling pretty hard. Visibility was low at points. Will be attempting again in a month or so.

Beautiful hike. The beginning was easy over packed snow and little to no ice. Never used spikes, but used hiking poles which really helped with the second half of the hike as the trail became steeper and more snow. We made it about 4 miles in and turned around before the lake. The trail diverted into a few different paths but we kept post holing and decided to turn around.

the dog and I summitted Big Baldy via the SW ridge trail..very steep...2 or 3 false summits and we made it! Some deep snow on top, but packed down nicely..we descended the Dry Canyon trail and I was thankful to have poles - there's a mix of snow and ice and mud currently and I was half sliding half walking down the steep parts..great hike..worn out

A great winter hike. Moderate traffic of backcountry skiers.

This is a fun trail filled with some really cool views! It’s amazing to look back at the canyon and see all the layers and colors. Loved that. It’s steep. I could see kids and beginning hikers not enjoying this trail for the difficulty. It is a nice trail though. Between the little streams, animals, and basins, it is a very enjoyable/ slightly difficult trail with a great length

Hiked this trail and the Ridge Trail up to the Summit Trailhead as part of a loop hike. Good trail with great view of the sun rise lighting up the surrounding peaks

Dry Creek trail was well signed except for the first fork to Little Baldy Trail.
Little Baldy had no signs and lots of trails crossing/splits. Stick to the most worn path.

A hike away from all the people. I highly recommend the loop.

Pretty lake, but it’s a super short hike

11/15/17 What a hike! That last 1.5 to the summit is STEEP as crud! So well worth it! Saw a mountain goat on the south west ridge as we were about to summit. Too bad we didn't get there at the same time. I can't wait to return in July when the wild flowers are out!

First hike here and I loved it! I was getting pretty tired but passing hikers/runners gave me motivation to keep going!

Cecret Lake is a beautiful place. One of my favorite hikes. In August this beautiful hike is home to thousands of wild flowers!

Beautiful and dramatic. Strenuous

One of the most beautiful hiking trails I've ever been to. It's rated as hard, but I don't agree. I would consider it as moderate. I highly recommend it!

Extremely steep. It is a challenge but worth it!

Beautiful lake and lovely hike. Summer wildflowers are stunning!

Really lovely. Very few people There when we went (2 days ago).

great hike to put some work into, and the lake is beutiful at the end. you really get to appreciate the wildflowers on the way back down.
