nice trail. good views. poor parking.

good workout in the city, gets crowded though and too much dog poop

Mostly uphill, and not a loop. Actually an out and back. Took me about two hours to do because I took my pup, he’s a little out of shape, so we stopped a few times so he could catch a breather. Most of the hike is uphill and was plenty cool because of the wind. For parking, go ahead and park in the residential neighborhood. There’s signs that say you’ll be ticketed but like I said, we were there for a little over two hours and nothing.

Park at Hoover Elementary: Alta and Broadway. All over street parking is permit only.

Good hike, lots of fun! Saw a few deer.

First time here at Steep Canyon Trail and it was definitely a fun one! Took about an hour to finish and it's less than 2 miles long, just some steep hills you have to look out for since there's a lot of loose gravel around.. but that's what makes it challenging. Also found a cut in-half 50s chevy business coupe convertible near the near of the trail. Pretty random how it got there. I would definitely come back to this trail if I ever need to kick my ass with the cardio!!

The hike to the ridge was moderate. The views from the ridge are quite spectacular. I would do this again. It is good for a easy going climb and spectacular sunset and view of sandstone formations

Good starter trial..

I loved it!!! Took my 3 month old German shepherd and tired him out too!!! Definitely one of my favorite trails, make sure to bring water and comfy shoes(I accidentally grabbed my workout shoes-not hiking shoes!!) overall, it was an intense workout, but great for beginners!

I love this hike! My daughter and I did this every other day in the morning. Wear plenty of sunscreen bring enough water and take in all the beauty around.

My first time at Turnbull Canyon was intense!! I super enjoyed the inclineSSSS. There were many of them. I really loved that there were different ways to go, though it’s easy to get lost. My girlfriend and I came down a different route, ended up at a parking lot we didn’t enter through, and walked about 3/4 mike to get back to her car.

If you’re not parking at the little parking lot (near Orange and Greenleaf), you can park by the elementary school near Alta and Broadway and walk to Beverly, which takes you to the trailhead. Not a bad walk.

All in all, I enjoyed the run, sweated a lot, and would recommend to anyone for walking and hiking as well.

This hike has no shade so make sure u are well covered, sunscreen, and water. I’m a beginner so the steep was a work out for me. Lots of up and down. There are 3 route you can choose from. One of the trail leads to Diamond Bar community center. I liked it! It’s a good work out, but pick hiking time wisely.

No where to park!!! Not cool

Gorgeous views and relentless climbing to reach the high Sierra backcountry, but absolutely worth the work. Parking is safe at the Rush Creek Trailhead near Silver Lake. Did this as a four day thru-hike to Tuolumne Meadows in June 2018, using the JMT/PCT over Donohue Pass. This was the most beautiful and committing backpack trip I've done, and is a must-do. Arrange for a ride back from T Meadows via YART, a private shuttle service or hitch a ride. This is a friendly area of California.

We stayed the night at Garnet lake VIA the JMT back in 2017. when we came up on Thousand Island and we knew we had to come back someday. We will be hiking back up from Silver lake this July. Can anyone tell us where is a good safe place to park for the trip? Thanks.

love it!

Really great trail. Good inclines which you will definitely feel once the heat starts working on you. Definitely bring some water. Perfect trail to toss on a weight vest and train your endurance.

Saw a few mountain bikes as well. Walked down the trail one of the bikers came up. If that's your thing I do not believe you would be disappointed.

Big negative is the parking. I parked on Beverly pretty far down until I did not see a sign that said "Permit Parking". Then I had to walk up Beverly to the entrance of Turnbull. Depending on your outlook you could just write it off as part of your hike that day.

Overall nothing wrong with the trail itself. Perfect moderate trail to break you into hiking tougher trails in the future. 4 stars only because of seemingly non-existent parking.

I love this trail on my bike man it’s so beautiful and you can get some amazing speed

parking is no good. nice medium trail

Definitely lives up to its name, lots of steep parts to this trail. Encountered some people, all friendly

great views and birdwatching (woodpecker, hawk, multiple smaller birds). many signs of regrowth after the fires with saplings and wild flowers popping up.
