We hiked today with micro-spikes and met a couple others with snowshoes. It’s a pretty easy hike with not much elevation gain. The views along the crest are great. It was a day with blue sky, cool (15 degrees), beautiful white snow and lots of animal tracks. If you are the first person on the trail after a snow you’ll want to wear snowshoes.

Great easy hike to start off a day. Trail is very well marked and the lake is gorgeous to see in the winter. Would not say microspikes are needed if you stick to loop trail but if you plan on doing the waterfall trail nearby they would come in handy. Will be back to explore more of the area

Perfect hike for our boys, age 6 and 8. A little challenge here and there balanced with wooded plateaus, and we were rewarded with one of the best views. A bit muddy and slippery this time of year, so wear appropriate footgear. The trailhead is not marked- look for a gate with a "No Motor Vehicles" sign.

Did this hike over the summer with my 10 year old daughter. Spent at least a half day venturing to the falls and a little further up. Well marked trail, some stone jumping if you're up for it. The falls is well worth the hike.

Great short hike along flat terrain. Muddy in some places but otherwise very well made trails. Well marked and well maintained. Lots of birds too.

This is a wonderful walk-turns-hike that yes, starts on pavement from the parking lot but once you get into the woods, oh my - beautiful! A rambling walk with several unexpected steep parts but nothing treacherous or terribly difficult. Wet today but hiked without spikes or snowshoes. Did just fine. Really enjoyed this one. Trail is marked well; easy to follow because you just keep the waters on your left all the way! Streams were running strong but easy to cross.

it's steep hike up but the view is nice. it can get tricky towards the top for older dogs.

great hike with dogs

perfect for a quick morning hike

nice brisk hike, very easy and flat but I would suggest micro spikes this time of year.

I don't know who writes the information on the trails, but this one is very nice but easy for a serious hiker, but not someone looking for an easy walk in the woods.

Nice views from the top!

This place is great for beginners. It’s all flat, but curly trails. I went November 30th and walked all of the trails, including the blue trail because it was open. All of the trails were extremely muddy (which seems to be the census). There defiantly needs to be a lot of stepping stones put into place, unless everyone is going to walk around the giant water patches and expand the trail even wider (which obviously isn’t a good idea if you’re trying to preserve the land). I also think who ever marked the trail needs a little more guidance. Most of the markers on the blue trail were on dead trees (and they were new markers) or super far apart and easily could “get lost” (you can’t really get lost because it’s a small trail/area, but you can defiantly walk off path). Also coming from the yellow trail to the white trail you would have no idea to turn at the end of the yellow trail to head back to the entrance. There needs to be better placement of the markers and just more of them in general.
Overall it was a great trail just to get out there and walk and find your way around.

Nice easy walk around the lake. Good for families with small children.

Trail is well marked. Switch backs make the trek to summit tolerable. A bit slick in spots later in the trail. Views are incredible.

Awesome trail! Make sure to wear the proper shoes though!

Beautiful place great walk

trail was good until the loop. then it was blow outs, poorly maintained and difficult to follow. we kept hearing gunshots, to the point we got uncomfortable and bailed on the rest of the loop. made our way back to the road.

Hiked sleeping beauty today. Trail was a little wet in spots as is typical. Views were beautiful. The trail is moderate by comparison with its neighbors Black and Buck especially if you can park at Dacey clearing. That shortens the hike by about 3 miles. Although the road fromHoggs Town parking to the trail head is very nice in winter when closed. Great views, beautiful scenery just challenging enough.

Not to difficult of a hike and the view is breath taking.

Fantastic view from overlook. Relatively rocky trail. Definitely moderate or harder.

Great view. Worth the trip. Fall is spectacular

Muddy but worth it! Glad I was wearing boots. Drove to Dacy trailhead to avoid hiking the road...so now I have another reason to get my Jeep. Take it slow and you'll be fine, though.

This was my first actual summit. Ever. I was absolutely ready to turn around and go right back up when I saw the registration box. I really didnt want to leave...I'm officially hooked.

Challenging for 2nd hike of life but definitely worth the effort. Make sure to go to all three falls and bring a camera. We got some great shots. Would like to hike again in summer and get some swimming in the water holes around the falls. Saw eleven people during trip in and out.

The trails aren't marked very well especially on where to head back to the parking area. We ended up getting lost...just glad we ran into someone who helped us find the right direction & got back to the parking lot.

A nice easy walk. Some muddy, slippery sections. A well marked trail with lovely views of Lake Bonita.

Other than the rather anticlimactic summit due to cloud cover, it was the perfect day to get out there! Foliage was beautiful, and the hike was a nice rewarding challenge with the wet and mud!
