It was beautiful there yesterday and I had the whole place to myself! Lots of rock scrambling!
Trail was rocky but totally manageable. The rocky/canyon part was actually shorter than we expected. worth packing a lunch or adding as a stop to the caves or falls.
The directions are wrong.
It was such a beautiful place! The hike was fairly easy aside from it being slippery here and there from water and wet moss on rocks. I’d definitely recommend going early spring if you’re really trying to avoid snakes like I was. (not that it’s a guarantee but better chances)
beautiful hike today and didn't see anyone else. Rough for BIG dogs if going through the canyon when there is no water. I couldn't get my doberman through some of the areas without having to go up on the side of the canyon area. Overall beautiful place!
Awesome day of bouldering through a scenic canyon!!
This was a short decent, beautiful scenery with a brisk wind, on a great day in mid-October. No snow yet and we were lucky to miss the rain today. Things got interesting when my 2 1/2 year old decided to sit in the trail and take off her coat and gloves and descend further into a deep hole of tantrum- you parents know what I’m talking about. The climb back to the parking lot with her in the Kelty, screaming loud enough to assure that no hunter within 3 units will see an animal in the next week, was a long steep climb. I got a few sideways looks from other hikers like- “is that child hers, or?” But who else would pack a kid up a hill besides their parent As usual, everyone lived.
Great, easy hike into a beautiful lake. There are lots of wildflowers as well.
Fun trail. Beautiful spots by the lake shore
This was a little side trip on the way to our campsite for the weekend. Road to trailhead is dry, dusty washboard (at times we had to put our truck into 4wd to gain some traction). Trail was packed but once you got down to the lake it was easy to distance and space out. Overcast day which provided some relief from the heat. The hike really begins on the way back which is all elevation gain. Doable, just not what we normally expect when hiking. Easy little hike with beautiful scenery.
Beautiful little alpine lake that is emerald green in color, crystal clear and super cold. The road up is definitely not meant for cars, but doable. Our CR-V did a good job, but we still had to take it slow on some parts. TONS of people since the walk is only 1 mile. Get there early if you want some peace & quiet!!
Beautiful lake and nice easy hike for the family. Did a quick afternoon trip so didn't have any problems with mosquitoes. Our dogs loved playing in the water, but it was a lot muddier than expected. Plenty of boulders to climb and places to explore for the kids. Cars can make it but expect a lot of washboards on the drive up the mountain.
Loved this trail. The lakes were beautiful and so much fun for the family. We took a swim and the water was definitely cold but not unbearable by any means. Also, the road was a little rough but you most definitely could get a sedan up there if you’re willing to drive slow. We’ll definitely do this hike again!
Beautiful lake! I visited this lake in mid august, the road getting there was not bad at all. I drive a Toyota RAV4 and I was a little worried about it. It was a bit bumpy but just like any other dirt road in Idaho. The trail to get to the lake is about a mile long and very easy going. A little rocky here and there. I only recommend bring what you need at the lake. If you need to run back to the car for lunch or whatever else it would only be about a 10 minute walk. We took our inflatable paddle boards and had a wonderful time. We fly fished and caught over 20 rainbow trout. Epic time. 5 stars!
Challenging trail at higher elevations with steep slopes, loose rock, and washed out ruts.
Beautiful hike! Tons of wild flowers. We got to the trail head at about 10 am and there were already about 20 cars parked there. If you want to get to some kind of shore where little kids can play, turn left at the fork closest to the lake. There’s a good spot to let them wade out on the opposite side you hike down to so to avoid hiking all the way around like we did, turn left. We took our three year old and she walked the whole way out and back. She was pretty worn out by the time we got back to the car as the hike out is steep.
beautiful lake. not so beautiful company. if you are going on a weekend or holiday (or until COVID goes away and people can return to Disneyland), expect more intrusive company than you might like. bring a spare bag and a helping of patience with you to collect garbage along the trail as well and dealing with the crowds.
Beautiful trail, be aware of the $5 fee and crowds
The trail is a great trail for families. The lake is glacial runoff so it is cold. Only my 11 and 13 year old were willing to get all the way into the water. Downside is the long drive up the mountain roads that are a bit rough and washed out. Hike is great and worth doing once.
Easily one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
