We hiked this last Sunday. This isn’t usually one of my favorite hikes but it is very pretty with the snow. It’s a little slippery at the top but very doable. Definitely go all the way around the lake, if you stop right away you miss a lot of the beauty in my opinion.

Did this trail on 1/20. Not enough snow for snowshoeing, but you absolutely need crampons or shoes with fabulous traction on ice. There are several areas where you're walking at a steep incline on ice.

The scenery was beautiful.

Great hike. Gets pretty busy after 10am. Slippery up at the lake but well worth the hike!

This trail was a lot of fun. We went the day after we got some good snow fall so parts of the trail was icy from it being packed down. After bridge 6 it’s a bit steep for sure. I used spikes and had no issues. Beautiful trail!

Early morning is key if you want to avoid the crowds, even in January. The falls are beautiful, and it's an easy mild hike. Trails are clear, a bit of mud here and there but not an issue if you're wearing proper footwear.
We explored the main trails and a couple side trails that were far less traveled. You can hear the highway pretty well unfortunately, and there were a few people with dogs off leash.

I absolutely loved hiking this trail, ended up hiking almost 13 miles to see the entire thing! So many beautiful waterfalls and you get to walk behind 4 of them which was incredible!! I highly recommend!!!

got to the trail head at 830. there was light rain but not much. the trail was in great shape. a few muddy spots but nothing that couldn't be worked around or walked through.

the falls were all especially strong today. the lower falls are great with a view of the middle falls in the distance.

the middle views are what you come for.

the trail to the upper falls is more difficult than the rest but nothing more than difficult moderate. the upper falls are great as well.

the valley overlook is also stunning.

Trail was good up until about 3 miles in. Then the trail vanished due to the wind and deeper snow conditions. Great hike though. Had to put on snowshoes right around the feen lake trail sign.

Did the south loop this morning. Snow was packed down well, a few icy spots but went well without spikes or snowshoes. Muddy at the lower elevations near the east trailhead.

Great loop if you’re in the mood to hike but not kill yourself with ridiculous incline. Beautiful views throughout but the summit by one of the falls is

Gorgeous

today was a beautiful day to go......along with 10k other folks who thought the same thing. and 90% dont leash there dogs. BUT besides that it was a great hike! variety of terrain really kept ya interested as to what was coming up next. overall it was a decent hike.

The first half of this trail is a little boring but it does get more interesting after the “official” end. It’s a neat one to take people on though because it does show different plants, etc. I’ve seen smaller dogs do this one all the way to the peak! There are ropes at parts for the humans :)

Quite a ridge, great views...more. than steady incline.

The path past end of trail is quite intense. The ridge is less than 24" and there are 8-10 ropes for technical climbs. Recommend crampons and gloves.

This trail is rated appropriately taking it all the way to Mt Olympus.

Very nice hike and beautiful summit view. The trail was not very muddy, but after a rain it may get very slippery in some steeper sections. Overall it was a rewarding hike.

we did this hike on New Years Eve and again this past Sunday. One of our favorites for sure. NYE there was allot of snow, obviously fresh and super cold. This past weekend, much of the snow was gone and the lake wasnt as frozen. Two very different hikes and very different views along the way with and without the snow. Cant wait to come back in the summer to camp! Easy in and out very little elevation. Just enough to get your heart rate up a bit and then your there. LOTS of dogs off their leashes would be my only negative comment. We brought 3 dogs both times and kept them leashed for caution both times.

Beautiful setting. This is set as Easy however parking is a bit tricky and it's a pretty steep climb to get to the glacier. Was pretty slick with all the snow, will go again in spring.

I just moved here and found this hike a little challenging because of the altitude. the trail is pretty packed down so I did it in tennis shoes with no problem. a lot of people brought sleds that looked fun! I took a lot of breaks but the view was great.

Today we did the Canyon Loop. It had quite a bit of snow but it was well packed so no need for snowshoes. There were some muddy spots. This was an easier hike.

Such a beautiful hike on a crisp winter morning I recommend this hike to anyone! So many beautiful waterfalls

Road in wasn't bad, and could handle my tiny Hyundai Accent perfectly. I assume it isn't always that way, but there wasn't any snow and pot holes were easy to navigate. As for the trail, not slippery or icy for my trip. Some downed trees, but a hop over, and you're hiking again. The falls were well worth it, as well as the view you got of everything else at the top.

There was some confusion if we should take ext 52 or 47 thanks to Apple maps. We chose to go with ext 47. The gate to the FSR is closed. We parked on the street near the gate. It was Sunday afternoon so there were plenty of places to park. We knew that we would be racing against the sun but are pretty fit, experienced, and prepared. There is ice on the two mile stretch of road you have to hike to get to the trail head. The trail itself is covered in snow and ice. I would not have attempted this trail without micro spikes. With warmer temps I was careful to stay on the trail and not get too close to the edge (could easily slip or snow could give way on the cliff side). Round trip this hike ends up about 8 miles. From the gate and back it took us about 2.5 hours round trip, including our stop at the falls.

Beautiful and fun hike! the hardest part for me was closer to the top where all the rocks and boulders were but other than that definitely doable and so worth it. its a popular hike so definitely prepare for that and be sure to have a parking pass or get one at the station just a few miles before the hike.

For someone not used to the altitude, this hike can be more challenging than most people have rated it. It’s short, but fairly rocky and steep. Combine that with the altitude, and some breaks may be necessary. Once you reach the top though, it’s worth the effort and you’ll probably want to hang out for a bit. Beautiful hike, but don’t underestimate it!

First ones on the trail 1/13/18, for the most part followed skiers along the trail I was familiar with. We reached a point where the trail was lost and followed up a skiers way for a bit and turned back. We were about .5mi from the lake which was a bummer !!

Absolutely bring snow shoes and spikes. Views are just fabulous

Very enjoyable! Plenty of trails to pick from. There’s about a foot of snow right off the trail but much more if you go too far off. You see elk and wildlife here and there. Woods but if you go to perimeter trails then you see meadows. I used my basic spikes (smaller less heavy duty) over my hiking boots and it was a great hike!

Beautiful and scenic hike to do in the winter time; but the difficulty level goes from easy to moderate when there’s snow and ice.
A “must try” hike, when snow has fallen!
Micro spikes or something similar highly suggested!

Beautiful trail, arrived at 9:45 am on a Saturday and would recommend going a bit earlier. The hike itself gave a great view of the forests and the cascades at some point. Waterproof shoes are a must, the trail became a creek at times. Lots of cute dogs, saw a small avalanche on the far side of the lake (didn’t interfere with the trail.) I recommend a down layer if you’re planning on sitting near the lake at all, the sun doesn’t get into the valley at all due to it rising and setting so far south.
