Great trail with surreal green sections with a springy floor. The mileage listed appears to include out and back as the actual knob is only about 1 mile from the trailhead.

well as with others I was a little confused. the tram wasn't running until October 3 so we turned around at the tram and drove to the cliff side trail. didn't realize we could've hiked to it, but judging by the hill it would've been STEEP! really enjoyed cliff side; more rugged, gorgeous rocks and views. my pedometer had me at 6.15 miles.

Amazing views at the end! Enjoyed the hike through the woods to get to the lake. Nice, wide trail and fairly flat. Great trail!

Great walk through the woods with a nice payoff. Quiet and peaceful in mid-Sept. Diverse plant life in addition to some great views at the end. Definitely recommend if in the area.

Trail was beautiful. Reminded me of forests in Washington state with all the different mosses. The trail at one point was like walking on memory foam. Trail was a little steep in some places. Lots of roots and rocks so care must be taken, espcially on the way down. The nice flat mossy parts are the trail are well worth the effort in the beginning.

9/16/20 A lovely jaunt in the woods. You’ll learn some geology along the way as you walk in the shadow of massive boulders and rock formations.

First off thanks to everyone who left reviews this is a beautiful trail with lots of amazing rock formations. Here’s a bit of gear advice if you find the trail to be difficult go to your local gear store and buy a set of poles the extra support points change the difficulty level to easy. There was a tree blown down across the trail and washouts makes it narrow at some points. The grade makes descending more difficult then coming back up. The head house and old mine cars are super cool. There is a trail down to the old town and tipple which is fairly difficult and steep very overgrown and I’d recommend wearing pants to avoid stinging nettles. I still would rather do the hike then brave the narrow treacherous road down to the bottom

A little confusing as the trail isn’t well marked. We actually took a left and ended up on a different trail for about 2miles before realizing it was not the right trail. Finally made our way back to the tram and realized we were meant to take the bridge to Gypse Trail. Whole day ended up being a 14 mile hike. Super unnecessary and totally wish the signage was better for such a well known hike. Overall great hike and wonderful views though!

I hadn’t been there since I was a teenager, but it was the same. For some reason, I remember it being a little longer. Beautiful place, anyway.

While I really liked the trail, the description was totally wrong. The Rail Trail ended at the tram and you had to choose whether to take the tram or do a more strenuous hike. The Cliff Side Trail is also very hard.

While it’s a pretty trail, I do not recommend to women hiking alone.

The trail was very easy to follow. Waterproof hiking boots is a must, especially if it has been raining recently. Most of the trail was single lane. Parts of the trail had pools of water on it since it had rained recently. Some of it looked like a creek bed. But it was manageable with good shoes. I enjoyed the wooded views and seeing the lake at the end.
