awesome scenery, i wouldn't stop at the Shrine drive thru tree again tho

this is all private property, actually, but makes for a beautiful drive between Ferndale and Rio Dell... or if you're heading out to Patrolia from either town. watch out for free roaming cattle ;)

This is a private road that takes you through a cow pasture, it is at the top of the ridge so the view is great but if you enter from the east side there is a No Trespassing sign. The trip to the road goes through some nice redwoods. As you can see in the photo from another review, there is a lot of open land.

great running

I only wish I had more time! I drove through a few times during my week in the area. I would have loved to wonder the area much more though. It was a beautiful drive.

Gravel road. Very dusty, but worth it.

lots of big Redwoods and easy pull outs if you want to drive slower and enjoy. black errors on the side of the road near the top, and a few trail heads. great scenic drive. for even more break off down Mattole Road and there is a lovely loop a mile before Albee campground

AMAZING!!!

Oh it’s a dusty road but plenty of turn outs for cars to pass.

This is not a trail but a county road that passes through an area that is all private property. It makes for a nice drive, but any hiking off the road is trespassing.

No drive up the California coast would be complete without driving (and ideally hiking) through Avenue of the Giants. There aren't words or pictures that can grasp the magnitude of these trees and the utter silence that falls in the forest as soon as you step off the road. These giants seem to live in a world all their own, casting a spell over anyone who wanders through them. What a delightful drive in a serene little corner of the world.

Wonderful coastline, came down to see the Eclipse from Pacific City and had the opportunity of exploring the amazing routes by the Ocean.

Of course you should take this drive! There are many spots to pull over and wander through the redwood groves. The Eel River flows behind the groves and can be accessed by a quick walk through the woods. We spent most of a day driving, stopping, looking, photographing, and hiking. It was well worth it.

One lane dusty road in summer. Avoid weekend crowds if you want to walk.

Much more impressive than I imagined it would be. I always wanted to witness the Redwoods since I was a kid in Texas thumbing through encyclopedias looking at pictures of them. Was sad to leave this area when it was time to go. Awesome!!

Gorgeous drive. It's well worth your time to drive through all the giants regardless of how much time you spend camping and hiking around. Truly impressive.

Words can't describe the beauty of this drive....many trails are accessible right off the road. My happy place!!

Every trail you need is located off of this road. There is a wide variety for all skill levels. Be aware that the road has not been graded yet so it will be a little rough until the middle of June.

This is an amazing drive no matter where you begin along the route! Great stops along the way to get out and explore.
