Weekend Trips Map

Love the area. It may not have vistas and not overly difficult but the area is great to hike in. Plenty of trails to do 10 miles to 40 in a weekend. Very nice camping spots along most of the trails as well and established camp grounds, with privys, if you're not interested in backcountry camping.

Good views and hills. Hard to believe your only an hour from Columbus.

Great trail with amazing views at the end!

Beautiful from start to finish and the park is always improving it. The views are something you'll wanna keep going back to see. The one and only downfall is it can get crowded sometimes so go on a work day and an odd time and you will get to enjoy it alot more

Beautiful very worth the short hike the end is beautiful

Brought a friend who has never been backpacking for a quick weekend trip and this route worked well. We parked at the north lot and arrived relatively late in the evening but there was a good place to set up camp right at the beginning so it worked out. Water was low but there was still plenty of water available. Relatively easy hiking. Great for new backpackers and a weekend trip.

Went here twice in the last couple months. It’s a great trail even in the snow (I thought it actually added a beautiful charm). Worth driving out to. Beautiful view at the end with a nice flat overlook spot so we brought some sandwiches and had a picnic.

Hiked it last weekend great trail with a even better view at the end

A nice little trail with beautiful views. It was very muddy, though, and based on the reviews of others, we decided to turn around about halfway and hike back the way we came so as to avoid the part on the road.

Absolutely gorgeous view at the top, but the walking trail itself does not vary much in appearance. Still a great walk through the woods. Not too steep, and not horribly crowded, but we did pass several groups during the hike and we shared the top of the mountain with a few other groups as well.

good easy walk awesome views

Don't mess around with this one. We were not prepared for the Stone Trough Trail. We entered thru the camp ground, scaled a mountain, got lost, found the trough, found some old water pump thing, then tracked thru some thickets.
Great day. We felt like we survived it. But go prepared, and you'll love it too.

Gorgeous trail! I went this past Monday when the ice melted and there was a big rain so the waterfalls were full and awe inspiring. Not crowded yet but still muddy make sure you have hiking shoes while the weather is changing. One of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever been on!

Great times with friends out on the trail. Didn’t quite finish but conquered 2/3 of the trail. It’s been an annual trip every summer.

Great trail

I hiked this trail in the middle of Feb from the trail head on 62 to Hearts Content. I really enjoyed the hike. The trail is well marked for the most part. There are a couple places were I had to stop and search for the next blaze. There was a couple of inches of new snow on the ground. The trail starting at 62 has a fairly steep incline. The elevation change is a gain of over 700ft in the first mile. Watch your footing on that section of the trial. There are a few spots that you could get seriously hurt if you fell. There are numerous streams on this trail. You shouldn't have an issue getting water. I also passed a few good campsites over the course of this hike. I did the trail as an out and back. There are some amazing rock formations along this trail as you get closer to Hearts Content.

Winter sights are pretty cool. A lot of large icecicles. BEWARE*** I went today and all the trails are frozen with at least a inch of solid ice. I slid into the water 4 times and there is nothing to stop the slide once you start. Luckily there was not a large dropoff where I slid. The ice makes it very slow moving because you need to attack certain spots with strategy when it is cliff+ice+downhill. If you are brave you can do it in an hour and a half but you will be wet from the melting ice and the guarantee you will slide into the water. Good luck!

We went for an overnight backpacking trip this weekend, expecting snow and rain.We got halfway up green mountain right before the plateau and the trees were so overgrown we had to crawl to keep on the trail. Finally got near the plateau and the trees were so close together that a human body could not push through. I wonder when the last time anyone maintained this route. The creek was beautiful and we had a good time camping despite not being able to finish the trail due to overgrown plants.

Beautiful scenery! I hiked this trail this summer and for the annual winter hike and it is amazing!

I have spent a lot of my time in this park. I had many classes on these trails as a student at Hocking College and just spent the weekend there for the winter hike.

What can I say other then thank you for keeping this park open! My family loved it. We did every trail and then stayed in the cabins witch were above our Epxt and we will be back!

Loved it! It was all I could do to keep my kids out of the water. What a great park and nice hike. The water falls were so awesome.

Completed this trail in December 2017 as a one night backpacking trip. Overall a nice trail. Not too taxing, and some decent vistas at the apex of the climb. The trail is overgrown in places, so be prepared to deal with some possibly wet foliage. Navigation was mildly tricky in a few spots, but less than obvious turns are pretty consistently marked with either cairns or, in a couple of spots, orange paint.

Very scenic. Rock formations, waterfalls. Various terrain. Very busy on weekends. Much quieter during the week.

Love this place. Good amount of climbing once you get back to the orange and blue loops.

Nice hike with a couple of steep hills both up and down. One nice view with a few big rock formations. Walk along a river for a portion. Very quiet in the winter!
