Waterfalls Map

Beautiful waterfall!

This loop map is incomplete! This only shows the road and the West river trail. There is a matching East river trail on the other side that is definitely worth the hike! Refer to the paper maps passed out at the entrance to see both loops. I highly recommend going North (toward the lake) for the East Trail. It has some very steep embankments that would have been torture to climb up but were okay to go down ;) Lots of stairs and boardwalks on the West river side, more rustic on the East side.

1) this map doesn’t show there is an east and west trail. Make sure to do both sides of the river. 2) they give you a paper map at the entrance which shows the east trail. 3) start with the west trail to learn about the waterfalls.

Great trail, nice scenery. Pleasant hike.

The walk is very easy here, you can even walk up the waterfall if it is shallow enough. One of my favorite waterfalls!

Gorgeous area, short trail, great for a short jaunt through the woods!

Stumbled acrossed the falls on our way back from a trip to cadott wi. Was prefect spot to get out and stretch our legs was easy walk nice trail really enjoyed it. When we got to the tallest falls there was a family there that told us they just watched some kayakers go over the falls their boys were real excited about that would have been cool to see. Here this week going to stop again on our way back to cadott and try and find some others to stop at on way back.

Pretty easy hike. The waterfalls were really cool to see and lots of easy paths.

Beautiful. West trail easier and more groomed than the East side . All the Waterfalls are stunning.

Gorgeous waterfall views. Some sections of the East River Trail are closed but remaining path is in good condition. Small amounts of up/down, I would rate it on the easier side of moderate.

The upper falls trail is spectacular. The waterfalls as well as the rock formations. Beautiful place

Did this hike with my wife and daughter and loved it. Beautiful scenery, not too difficult (wife was 5 months pregnant when we did it). Will definitely be doing it again.

Great time to visit (spring), the water flow is heavy and a spectacular sight. May not be able to park in parking lot due to poor road conditions, but only a short jog from the main sign.

Make sure you walk down the staircases to the bottom for the best views.

The walk to the top of the falls was easy and the trail was well maintained. The waterfall is impressive and worth the walk. I would suggest taking the stairs down to the bottom of the waterfall to get the opposite view.

A good trail for you and your dog. River is very powerful and in the summer time people go rafting here which is amazing to see. If it’s raining some of the massive rocks on the trail can be slippery.

Beautiful any time of year

Short and easy but a fantastic view!

The falls are impressive. Well-marked from the road and very easy walk on the trail. More touristy than I prefer, but I guess it makes it easy for all to see.

Easy to walk. The falls were beautiful.

The trailhead isn't marked very well from highway 13. Turn onto Houghton Falls road from 13. The trailhead is half mile on the right. There's an automatic gate that opens and closes at opening and closing times. Don't stay after hours or you're vehicle will be trapped. Nice trail with boardwalks in some areas. Echo Dells is a beautiful canyon about halfway to the lake. It's tempting to climb down in it but park officials ask that we don't, due to foot traffic damaging the ecosystem and ask that you stay on designated trails only.

Easy and fun.

Loved this trail! Beautiful waterfalls and wildflowers. Ended up by the lake around sunset. I loved seeing the river flowing into Lake Superior. Would definitely do this trail again.

Worth the walk down the hill and across the water. The view is much better than up by the parking lot.
