It a pretty fun trail. I’m fairly new to hiking and am a pretty heavy gal so this was a great beginning trail for me. There were a few spots that were slightly challenging but overall it was a beautiful hike. I would recommend hiking down to the stream on the southwest side of the bridge and lookout point, there is a great spot to rest and chill by the creek.

My wife and I walked this trail with our dogs. It wasn't a tough walk, but the trail surface changes a lot so its worthy of hiking boots, and the trail was easy to find and follow all the way to the falls, and who doesn't like walking along a river. It's pretty even late in the year and one area had a lot of wild grapes that were delicious. The creek size waterfall was flowing well and cascaded about 30ft down the side of the hill, so mission accomplished. We followed the trail for about a 100 yards past the falls but it got pretty tight and then became hard to follow so we decided to head back. It was a pleasant walk and we even saw a bear about a 1/4 mile from the trailhead on the way back, and he wanted nothing to do with us. I would say we might do it again in the early spring but at that time of year the creek may make it hard to get access the waterfall.

It was sooo hard! (Hiking that many miles) we thought out endurance level was great. But this trail proved us wrong. Haha. Would I do it again? No. Only if my endurance level is higher(; but the wild life on the trail was amazing. And the views were breath taking(:

Tuesday, October 2, 2018: weather was supposed to be cool and possibly rainy- not so. The reviews are correct that it gets hot along the trail, although there was quite a bit of shade. It isn't a hike I'd like to do in the summer months; there are plenty of swimming holes in Northern CA closer to my home. It's more of a walk than a hike anyway as there were only a few uphills, etc. Deer, bear, and maybe cougar tracks seen in the dirt trail. The road in was gravel and washboard but didn't need 4 wheel drive. I was fine in my Fiesta. Did not see anyone else along the trail. 1 hour in, 1 hour out. Overall a fun walk and a lovely day.

Beautiful views!

Hiked the trail in May. All five of us and two dogs were covered in tics. I recommend just enjoying the river and forgo the hike. We hiked to the end and never could find the waterfall. It was a disappointment.

Beautiful dirt trail leading to the coast.

Great trail. For this out-of-shape old lady it was more than moderate but still doable

I went on a Monday (no reservations required on weekdays!) and there were still plenty of people on the trails. Only downside is the drinking fountains are no longer working. One of my friends planned to fill her water bottle up there only to find that out. Bring water with you!

This was a beautiful place to ride our horses and there was some shade, wide trails, and access to water at the falls. However, the access road to get in and out was absolutely awful. 5 Miles of loose, bumpy, rattily gravel that at times could only drive 5mph or under. Even had to use 4WD at one point because our truck tires were slipping. Very rough ride on the body, and worrying about the horses, and for that reason we will not go again.

Make reservations on weekends !!!

Loved this hike, nice easy walk to the falls. Dogs loved it and enjoyed the shade spots for a few breaks. Would highly recommend

Almost all flat terrain and mostly shaded. I would consider this an easy nature stroll and with the exception of the distance, it is great for all ages. Beautiful trees, ferns, and other plants everywhere! We went on Labor Day and started at 3 pm- there were many people returning from their hike but not many people starting it at that time.

The round trail shown here is not wheelchair accessible. You could go back on the same route and just get to the bridge that over looks one of the falls

The trail is pretty hard to find if you don't know what your looking for. After you cross the creek its up the side of the hill. It is kind hard to see because the trail is pretty overgrown. However, once you find it it's a great hike. Its very pretty and some awesome swimming spots along the way. The trail is very narrow and over grown so keep this in mind and because of the tick warring I would not bring dogs. We didn't see any but they are easier to find on humans than on dogs.

Nice easy to moderate trail. There was a Mountain lion there today near the second falls so we didn’t go as far as planned. The first Falls was nice, light water, but some. A bit smoky but great trail.

This was a great trail! Alot of great views. We did a camp at sky camp and hiked down this way. Beautiful!

Easy. Classic. Lots of wildlife.

new county policy you must have a reservation to park booked in advance. also they charge for the reservations. they pay park rangers to stand out and collect the money.

Great day hike. Very peaceful.

Rewarding hike with beautiful coastal vistas and the beauty of Alamere Falls waiting for you at the end. Trails are well maintained and well marked with a nice mix of shade and sun. Make sure to grab a trail map and follow it carefully. We got distracted and missed a turn that added an extra mile and a half and a strenuous climb on the Coast Trail to an already long hike. Beautiful coastal views on that little side trip though. Alamere Falls was enjoyable, if not a little crowded. Felt a bit like Disneyland with the line of tourists taking selfies there. Restrooms and water available at Wildcat Camp. Great hike !

Amazing views! We actually took the Coast Trail onto a beach that had a few caves. We hung out in a cave while watching the waves, whales, and seals. Beautiful hike the entire way to the beach. Definitely worth it. And definitely going again. Was an amazing date location!

This place is getting trashed unfortunately. Would be helpful to try clean up the area. We filled the only bag we had but still had to leave with a ton behind. This place/waterfall was more beautiful when there wasn’t graffiti everywhere.

Beautiful hike! Done this twice now. Just take lotsa water in summer

The hike/walk to the waterfall was very nice, we got there later than we wanted to, we got there at 10:30AM. It’s definitely up to you and your enjoyment but due to the heat and very little shade, I recommend getting there earlier. But the sun did feel very nice on my skin ☀️ and don’t forget your sunblock. We took the upper trail that lead to the waterfall. It took us a little over an hour to get to the waterfall then we climbed our way down to swimming hole. The waterfall was very nice but the scenery to the river was gorgeous! I could have spent forever there. One more thing, if you decide to take your pet(s) please check the weather, go as early as possible, and take a lot of water. We ran into a few very hot and dehydrated pets. Fortunately my friend was a genius and brought quite a few water bottles with her that we were able to give water away to them. Please be safe.

This trail has many options of different length hikes. They provide paper maps at the trail head to help navigate though the park.

Trail has many options for all levels of hikers. Many shady portions and great facilities. Make sure to bring plenty of water. The hidden trail leads you to some great overlooks and you can hike down to the trail. Make sure to reserve the day before. $4.00 for half day 6:30am-9:30am / All day $8.00. No cell reception so take screenshots of your confirmation when you reserve. Take a picture of the trail map before you head out.

This trail is one of my favorites not to much hills, nice smooth stroller accessible all the way to Kelham beach To access the beach stay to the right when you meet the coast trail and go down when you get to the giant tree. you can't miss it.
Bring extra water. it's long but not too difficult.
Have fun

On a Thursday morning not many people after the cutoff at the bike rack. It was easy to navigate down to the beach and the falls if you keep following the signs to the wildcat campground, but hiking back out you can take the wrong trail if not careful .(I did) but well worth the extra few miles than taking the bear valley trail all the way to the ocean.
Definitely too difficult and rough for a stroller lots of ups and down the whole way.
