Amazing lake!!

Great trip even in the rain. The trees provided good cover. I chose this hike because it was recommended as a good “rain shadow” hike. I only wish the summit hadn’t been so cloudy.

Loveeeee This hike. Even In the fog and rain, it’s was beautiful.

extremely challenging but we'll worth it! we started from the upper trailhead which cut about 2 miles from the trip. Although pets are allowed, we noticed many owners carrying their dogs back down (including ourselves). Many parts of extreme steepness and loose rocks. We would absolutely do this hike again, but next time, we will leave our sheltie home.

loved this trail! will be using it for training!

Amazing trail. Amazing view. Amazing weather. And amazing company. Couldnt have been better.

Very steep. Slippery in places and the plant life is almost like a jungle as you get close to the lake. If you have bad knees, the descent while annihilate them. My favorite part was Cub Peak. While your legs are burning and shaking and you just want off the trail, it’s worth the extra bit to ascend to Cub Peak. Far better than the lake.

The hike was a great challenge and the views at the end were beautiful. Throughout the hike there aren’t a ton of views and it’s VERY challenging. I probably won’t do it again.

Peaceful

Outstanding weather today, started about 10 am & stopped at Burroughs Mtn #2 for lunch. Views of Rainier were in & out re top due to cloud cover, but still worth the trip! Does get cold up top, we had on every layer we owned, Polar fleece & puffy jackets, hats & head band for extra ear warmth.

Treck up some work, easy for experienced hikers. Take your time, soak in views! Including sheep, an eagle, and several annoying pica up top... Just an all around outstanding day!

Such a beautiful hike. The road was bumpy but definitely not as bad as we anticipated. Need good hiking shoes (not regular sneakers) as there are lots of rocky parts, tons of tree roots and some muddy parts as well. Started the trail at 8AM on a Monday and had the trail and the fire lookout completely to ourselves! Didn’t see anyone until we were on our way down. The view was stunning! Definitely recommend this hike!!

Great loop good chance to see wildlife

This is one of the best hikes in this area - and probably the best day hike. We did this along with Stuart Lake and the mountain views and the water color were breathtaking

The drive up is quite bumpy so be prepared to take your time. When we started the trail the weather was beautiful, blue skies with a few clouds. When we got to the top, clouds had completely covered anything that would have been a view. Very unfortunate, but will be trying again on a later date.

Awesome views of Mount St. Helens! I didn’t make it all the way up to Harry’s ridge because it started raining and the clouds covered up Mount St. Helens. I’d love to go back on a clear day and try again. I highly recommend this trail!

Incredible day on Mt Ellinore. Started out from the lower trailhead around 1:40 p.m. made it to the top by 3:00 p.m. had a snack and headed back down and in the truck by 4:20. I could see Mt. Rainier, Hood Canal and most of the Olympics. I lucked out with beautiful weather. Yes, this is a tough climb and I loved every minute of it.

This is a good hike. An ass kicker on the way up but it’s broken up with several great views on the river and waterfalls. Opens up into a valley and campground near the top. We didn’t summit because it was really foggy but I would recommend it on a clear day! Follow all our adventures on Instagram @themicrotourists!

Absolutely worth the hike to get the awesome view up at the fire tower! Definitely feels longer than you might think at times. Bring some food to replenish & plenty of water. Had no issues with parking or bugs when I went over labor day weekend 2018 - arrived around 9:30am. We spent our time after the hike over at Mowich lake for the rest of the afternoon. Great way to relax and enjoy your accomplishment.

I loved this hike. I literally gasped at the top. It was a beautiful view of the mountain! My 10 yr old and lil pups did great. Long bumpy road getting to the trailhead, but definitely worth the drive.

Cloudy day, so we missed the great views at the top.

Not for kids or dogs. Watch your footing as it gets very narrow in some spots. It was pouring rain when we went so we had to be extra cautious on the slopes and the ladder.

so gorgeous!

Did a beautiful, but cold sunrise hike to First and Second Burroughs on 8/25/18. It was WAY too windy and cold to continue to Third Burroughs. I’ll definitely have to make it the next time :)

This was my very first hike and the fellas and i really had no idea what we were in for .. If you aren't a regular hiker (like myself) and aren't in top shape , be prepared to push yourself harder than you ever have . The trail was beautiful, the views were beautiful . There are some very steep areas that will test your quads . Personally i had to take lots of little breaks to let my legs recharge . It was hard mentally and physically to accomplish but well worth it in the end. It was a great accomplishment. It was just under 12 km from where we Parked so about 23.5 km round trip ! My biggest regret was not having buying hiking poles.. it WILL save your legs

Great trail. Road to the trail head is very bumpy, but I was able to make it up there with a VW Jetta. Easy first mile, the last mile and three quarters is definitely a climb.

awesome trail with beautiful view on top. definitely recommended.

Beautiful even in bad weather

Hiked on September 14th, started from Parking lot at Sunrise. Started hiking around 9am, cold with light snow . Hiked to the 3rd mountain, which had much more snow, even lost the trail a couple times. Very peaceful and quiet with a beautiful view of glaciers. Not tough hiking at all, dress warm as the weather has changed on the Mountain. Total round trip with a lunch break on 2nd mountain (30 minutes) and several stops to take pictures was about 4hrs.

One of my favorite hikes in the PNW. It's a very popular trail, so get there early. Leave yourself at least 5 hours to complete the trail, but give yourself more time if you want to stay at the lake for a bit. Try to go on a sunny day as the water looks a brighter shade of blue in the sunlight.

This is an amazing hike worth every step. I highly recommend this trail.
