Beautiful waterfall!

Fun hike close to home. There were some steep hills that work your calves. We took our dogs and ran into quite a few people with dogs. Started this hike about 2 and it was moderately populated. There was a little bit of water in the waterfall.

So nice to meander along the Coal Creek looking for little babbling smallerfalls and enjoying the coolness of the little valley. Up to Primrose Loop and back to the main path is nice to get an out-of-city experience in the shade, while staying within the city limits. Bonus points for the gorgeous and plentiful creek bridges all smelling freshly of oil and pine:

More of a nature walk. All the same it was gorgeous. And we had a grand ol time. Went with my three kids: 6,4,1

This was fun. The kids enjoyed it. So did we :)

Much of the trail follows a beautiful stream through relatively dense woods and ferns. The trail is both long and attractive, especially considering its proximity to the city.

The great intersection of this city. Yes it’s crowded but it’s still beautiful and a great place to walk/run/bike/skate/swim and get some exercise. Makes for good people watching and there’s always something going on. If you want to go someplace to connect with the energy of the city, this is the place!

great walk with the dog definitely had some switchbacks but I was able to make it without a problem

Good for a morning walk with a buddy! A little anti-climatic at the turn around, but interpretive signs were pretty interesting. I’d do it again.

looks like it dropped right out of a book. amazing place!!!

Beautiful forested path along a creek. Some elevation. Dog friendly.

Nice walk through the old forest growth. We ended at the creek, but we think the trail ends before the steep descent.

Coal Creek - Red Town Hike. It’s Good. You can walk or run (almost) through the entire trail. Half of the trail runs by the side of the creek. It’s serene.
Without rain there is little water at this point, but it’s still beautiful. Reasonable amount of Parking space down at Coal Creek Parkway. Kids friendly, Dog friendly.

Easy and worth it. Kids can even do it. It is pretty busy though.

great but the mass was dry I think June its best time

It was beautifully green! Easy hike.

Well maintained trail in a beautiful setting. A couple of short climbs, but overall an easy, family friendly walk. It's listed as a one mile loop with 75 feet of elevation gain, but if you're into the amazing trees, it might end up being a little more. I ended up doing 1.85 miles and 138 feet of gain. Lots of people, but definitely worth it.

nice trail, good historical markers telling history of the coal mining that went on at the trail location.

Super easy great short stop. Barely a hike, but beautiful views

Beautiful, well maintained trail. There is a steep incline and some roots to step over but overall a very even, easy trail. While well trafficked we didn’t have any trouble finding spots for pictures or being able to stop and be alone and have total silence. We went in late July and arrived around 10am. Temperature was very pleasant. We were glad we arrived when we did. Leaving the area around noon, there was no parking and the trails were getting very crowded, there was a line to enter the park.

Nice easy hike. Great for trail running. Mostly shaded from the sun. Hikers and runners be alert. A Cougar and kittens were seen a few days ago. The cougars were seen in the northernmost section of the park near Coal Creek Parkway SE and 119th Avenue SE off of I-405.

I really enjoyed this trail! It was well kept after and the dogs and I liked the little bit of trial you could walk through the water. It was their first time in water and once we got to the little waterfall they didn’t seem to mind. Nice, quiet and not heavily trafficked on the weekend we went. We also sort of happened luckily upon the little waterfall, we had no idea because the trial markings weren’t the best that we were coming up onto it.

Easy trail with some hills and plenty of offshoots that give your dog lots of access to splash around in the creek. I never did catch the smell of coal.

nice little stroll but very out of the way, so I'd honestly probably never do it again, but if you're coming through just once, it's worth it.

Pretty. The drive up was very scenic. The fresh blue water of the river was very relaxing to sit by. I even got enough courage to soak my feet in it. Very refreshing!

Quick and easy walk to the waterfall.

Probably worth coming to just once. It's quite out-of-the-way. If you've hiked elsewhere in Washington you can easily find moss hanging from trees, so I'm not exactly sure what makes this particular trail so recognized for it.

Busy with visitors on this sunny July day, easy walk. Signs say an hour, more like 20 min. Fun photo spots. A little dry/brown looking today!
