Great challenging hike! Views amazing despite haze. I recommend bringing some kind of spikes/yaktrax and hiking poles (I did it without but wished I had them). There is a ton of snow to hike through and it's straight up! Took about 4hrs to get up and 1.5hrs down. We brought trash bags for glissading! It was so much fun after all that hardwork! I would recommend for comfortable glissading to wear waterproof pants and layers to keep your booty warm and some waterproof gloves! I hiked all the way up in a tank top and threw on my patagonia for the way down! Be sure to bring water and snacks to refuel!

Hiked 8/13.

Awesome hike and such a beautiful view. I definitely recommend swimming.

I got engaged by the lake when we got to the top. I’m pretty sure Andrew (from the comment below) took pictures of our proposal. The pictures are absolutely amazing! Thank you again, Andrew!

Very steep trail with a big payoff in views. From the peak of Mt. Ellinor you can see Rainier, Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, and the Olympic range. It is almost guaranteed you will also see mountain goats.

❤️

Great for training but, not really much else.

This is a yearly hike for me! Gorgeous views of Baker & Shuksan!!!

A spectacular trail that is easy enough for most hikers. Moderare altitude gains with no scrambles. We went counterclockwise and were not disappointed. There is a new vista at every turn and they are all fantastic. A little buggy near Ann Lake and in the trees but otherwise perfect. Well worth the trip and the effort!

Took this hike with my very athletic son. He never broke a sweat, however I certainly did! Gorgeous views and quite a workout for me.

Great hike for all skill levels. very rewarding view at the top. plenty of other trails branch off from the main trail to turn a few miles into a few days in the Olympics.

Great hike with wonderful views of the lake at the end! Scenery changes often with forest at the beginning, followed by meadows that transition into alpine vegetation and finally the overlook of the beautiful lake at the end. We found camping spots on the ridge just before getting to the National Park, but you could also camp about a 1/4 mile before the ridge and find many spots. Very difficult to actually get down to the lake. Road takes a while on the drive in/out so plan accordingly.

great short hike but if you're more ambitious you'll see a branch off to the Eastside trail as you head to the Grove. steady incline on a nice path that 3.5 miles in will take you to an incredible waterfall and footbridge. Eastside is empty!

Nice hike to a nice lake that’s perfect for swimming!

AMAZING first official hike since moving to the area!!! We took it nice and slow so we could take in the scenery and it did not disappoint! There were many beautiful views and not crowded at all, we passed 4 people the entire trip! The trail was semi muddy in some areas but that didn't stop us! My husband, myself and our dog will DEFINITELY be doing this one again!!

parking wasn't bad. the trail was fairly easy at the beginning. starts to get a slight incline a bit later but overall was an easy and relaxing hike. The way back is worse though because its mostly up hill. Seeing the old kiln is cool and if you hike past that for a mile is the river which you can eventually go down to if you want. The path to the river is a bit narrow so be careful. I'd go again. I went during the week in the early afternoon.

Such a beautiful hike! My husband and I climbed to the top of the waterfall and just soaked in the view. The water is a pretty blue green color. The trail is fairly easy. I highly suggest this hike.

Did the skyline trail on a busy Sunday morning but it didn't feel crowded. We managed to get parking in the main lot since we arrived early. At one point on the trail we could see the long lines of cars trying to find parking.

A moderate hike that was easily marked. Just arrive early!

I came here twice. Once in the afternoon and another time in the morning to catch the sunrise. You could see cascade mountains on one side and Victoria, B.C on the other side. The hike is very easy and paved. There is only 1 part of the hike that has a steeper incline. It takes about 45 mins from the trailhead to the peak. It was definitely a nice hike, but not the best Olympic has to offer.

The view at the top was good but crowded. My favorite part was the alpine lake near the look out point. The water was so clear and cold. I went in and swam to the other side where there was still snow. Overall would recommend if you are looking for an easy and short hike with a view of Mount Rainier.

Almost didn’t do this trail but so happy I did. You think you’re getting the best view about a mile from the top but I promise the last push is worth it. From the summit, you have a great view of Helens, Hood, and Adams. Pretty exposed trail but the views are worth it.

Gorgeous. Moderate/intense because of the elevation but no climbing or anything which was good news for me!! Absolutely stunning views. I highly recommend!

Amazing hike! First clear day in awhile due to all the fires. Saw 4 goats on top, 2 babies so stayed clear. Did this hike last week as well and visibility was pretty bad. Glad to be able to see Cushman and the canal.

Nice trail with a great view from the top of Mt. Pilchuk!

I went at 10 am on a Friday morning and it was uncomfortably packed. There were at least two scout groups of about ten to fifteen kids, and two adult groups of about ten each later up the trail. Not to mention the numerous single and double hikers. Because of the crowds the hike became unbearably slow and wasn’t tranquil. I guess I am a bit of a curmudgeonly hiker.

Having said the above, Pros: pretty views, lovely foliage, usually nice weather during the summer. Cons: going very slowly due to getting stuck behind so many crowds, listening to lots of other people’s conversations, stopping often to let others pass the opposite direction, difficulty finding parking.

I will say that this is a great hike for children because it has a fun payout for not too much effort. Just be sure to use the bathroom before you get to the trailhead because the bathrooms there are so gross.

I hope you all have a better experience than I did. :-) Happy hiking!

The tree cover is lovely, the views are breathtaking (if you don’t get caught in cloud cover) and the hike is a steady incline, with some harder switchbacks near the top. Only negative: it gets really packed with people.

Snow Lake is beautiful, lots of people on the trail. Not difficult so a lot of day hikers. Beautiful campsites and quiet at night.

Nice little hike. There is a lot of elevation gain once you get to the waterfall in the form of stairs mostly but wasn't bad. I saw an old man with a cane doing it. I love the bridge made from a local tree.

Did this hike last week in the rain. Was still a great hike even in the rain. It was a bit crowded compared to some other trails, but a must do. Beautiful plants and trees during the hike. Nice waterfall at the end. Very easy hike.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep your dogs on leashes! This is WAY too hard of a hike to not see goats!! Also, one unleashed dog helped me loose my footing on the scramble up, resulting in a very sore ankle on the way down. This is NOT a good trail for dogs!

great hike. Wife is a beginner but had great time. Lush wood made for cool hiking
