great time with the trails

tougher than moderate in my book. was very wet with leaves made it more challenging.

Beautiful hike. Great views in the way up. the summit was surrounded by tree unfortunantly. But very worth the hike for all the views!

I have done this trail twice and it is amazing! looking forward to doing it again. You can't beat the views. bringots of water and snacks. It takes a while to do and you will need the energy!

Excellent trail. Moderate to easy. The view from the fire tower was worth the climb up.

Great hike! Short, sweet, easy and great views. Tried to loop over to Maiden's Cliff and that was hard to find, but gorgeous hiking all through the park.

awesome place to walk and spend time with family , love the ocean too. awesome place to be

Oct 17th great little hike with a wonderful view .

It’s a great hike with great views. This trail has quite a bit of rock climbing. Even if you hike slow it’s still worth doing- bring a headlamp and finish in the dark. If you don’t like rock climbing there is a great waterfall about 1.5 miles in that’s easy to get to.

If you go to the top watch the weather report and be prepared for different types of weather. A few days ago we had sleet on the way up, sunny and 65 at the top, and heavy clouds on the way down.

nice trail lots of rocks. nice view...

Love the trail. A lot of good mushroom pictures. Wish there was not high winds the day I was there was not able to go to the peak. Definitely worth the hike

Moderate, great views

Well maintained and easy to follow trails, with a variety of scenery.

The ocean lookout view is incredible. Pretty tiring walk for a new hiker, but still very rewarding. The actual summit doesn't have much of a view, but it's extremely quiet and very serene. There are so many areas to go from the top, so many different trails and paths.

Great hike, lots of fun. Camden is an awesome place

The North peak is the peak that has the westerly and easterly views. The South peak (Quaggy Joe) doesn’t have a view and also has some type of a communication tower at the peak. But, still worth the effort to hike to the South peak when hiking the loop if you are goal oriented.
If you decide to do the loop, hike up to the South peak first, it’s the steepest ascent between the two peaks. The descent from the North peak to the parking lot is steep, but no where as steep as the descent from the South peak.
There is also a lean-to, with a picnic table, South of the North peak while traveling South on the trail to the South peak. A nice addition from the last time I hiked this loop 35-years ago.
Fill up with water before you start the hike. There is no water available in the trail.

An annual tradition. Great view as always.

This is only for folks who are in great shape. You essentially climb Maine’s most difficult peak twice. There are easier ways to do this; the rangers at Baxter State Park do not recommend this “loop”.

beautiful scenery and very easy hike

Small and Steep hike.. South peak has a deck to sit and the view is incredible. North peak does have a picnic table but the has smaller view because of trees

I came down Helon after Knifes Edge. It was a tough downhill!

I went up and back down via North Peak trail since I didn't get started until after 7. The views are great! Since this is the highest point for a good distance, you can see the farms and country below. And if I had had more time, I would have loved to complete the loop in full.

four of us, kids 9 & 10 and a tibetian terrier did the hike in a few hours. a good trail, nice views, moderate traffic, but everyone friendly

Go up the steep north trail and then down the south or the notch cutoff. Steep but well maintained. Would definitely do it again.

Excellent hiking trail network. The trail options here seem endless.

Nice hike. Steep coming down.

Excellent easy to moderate hike. 360-degree views from fire tower during peak autumn are stunning.

we took blueberry trail up. much longer and more difficult than was expected. with elevation to blueberry hill and then decent and climb back up to tower. not much of view unless you climb tower, then beautiful.took tower trail back. lots of rocks. All in all we enjoyed it and would go again.

Had a blast on the hunt trail. waterfall was awesome. Getting through the boulders was a blast. Tough trail and it's pretty relentless after the first couple miles. I thought the hellbrook on mt Mansfield was tougher but it was shorter. This reminded me of Franconia a bit with the peaks. Hung out in the stream for awhile on the way back down. All in took 9 hours with about an hour of hanging out at the top and awhile in the stream.

I only plan to do the Hunt trails to ascend and then do knife edge trail and return.

This was a really pretty trail. Well marked trail with flower/plant photos. There are areas that are steep so having a trekking pole is helpful if you tend to have some unsteadiness. Really is for different skill levels. My husband and my 2 teenage boys and 8 year old all made it challenging for themselves.
