There are nice views along the trail and at the end, where you'll find the petroglyphs. The petroglyphs aren't subtle, either, so you'll have no problem finding them. :)
I wouldn't recommend hiking this trail if you don't have proper hiking or trail shoes. You do need the grip here and there.
There is a nice sized parking lot, too, so unless you're hiking this in peak season on a weekend, you'll find a spot.
If you go during monsoon season, be mindful of a flash flood risk. At the end, where you'll find the petroglyphs are pools and a waterfall. Don't get caught in there if it's raining. The rocks would be too slippery to confidently be safe.

Easy hike? I’m not sure

We went early morning in July, I mean 6 a.m.. the beginning of the tail is in direct sun light. once you get to larger rocks, it's more shaded as the sun hasn't come over the ridge yet. BEAUTIFUL. lovely views. we only went half way (per the trail on the map here)

Nice trail, some rocky parts. Beautiful views.

Great family hike. Interesting petroglyphs.

Did this hike with my son who isn't as enthusiastic about hiking in 110 heat as I am. We chose this hike for the moderate elevation gain and distance. The views are ok and the trail is well marked. The highlight are the hieroglyphics at the end. As many of the other reviewers have said, the bees in the pool below make hanging out by the hieroglyphs problematic.

Javelina trail is really fun, I go up Ridgeline for more scenic views

nice, go after a rain, hundreds of petroglyphs

Started down Javalina at 5:30am and finished at 7am before it got too hot. The sun hits your face on Ridgeline so I recommend sunscreen. The hills on Ridgeline can be tough to varying degrees but each one pays off with a great view.

A great experience in the city. Moderate challenge from the elevation change on Ridgeline and a more relaxed hike through the valley on Javelina. Simple, beautiful views of the city and surrounding mountains throughout.

A nice out and back. Good variety of desert plant life at the beginning of the hike and the petroglyphs at the end are pretty cool. However at the petroglyphs at the top where the "waterfall" would be was just a wet pit infested with bees and wasps that made enjoying the glyphs difficult. It was 94 and I used about 1.5L of water and took about an hour and a half.

I love San tan park, the trails are clean and great. this is a good little run for the afternoon or a quick morning breather. definitely a good one.

After it rains, the waterfall is worth seeing.

Good climb up and views. Recent trail maintenance has cleared some of the larger loose rocks and the climbing isn’t difficult.

Parking fees have increased to $7 if you don’t have the pass.

No shade along trail. awesome petroglyphs at the end and a little cave to explore. bring lots of water to drink due to lack of shade.

A bit too flat, very little shade. Nice blossoms beginning to show.

Decent tour of the park if you only want to pay the discounted entry fee.

Fun, quick hike. It’s cool seeing some of the old mines and structures.

I know I left a comment, but I’ll leave one more. Literally the single weakest “hike” I’ve been on EVER. Don’t waste your time

It’s walking, not hiking. Half the trail is covered in literal horse shit

Great Hike this morning, no bees just a bunch of dog poop along the way. I would recommend going early in the morning! Shade from the mountain helps :)

Path not marked with lots of loose rock and varied incline. Not for the novice.

There’s only a waterfall right after a monsoon, to the comment down below.

Loved this it was easy and fun

Did Mojave today. Wonder about the spelling of the name. The sign on the street reads Mojave but the signs on the trail read Mohave. Oh well, Mojave is Mohave is Mojave, I guess. The trail might be said to proceed along two wings, one to the north and one to the south. The northbound wing is easy and nearly effortless, with just a little elevation gain, but the southbound wing is much trickier, or even downright tricky. That trail quickly narrows, until eventually it is completely blocked. To the left is a field of smaller flat rocks offering plenty of room for rattlesnakes to lay in wait, and to the right is a boulder and other larger rocks blocking the trail, also offering room for snakes. You can climb over if you are willing, but the trail past that point becomes so narrow as to require use of handholds. If you make it that far you probably won't be going back and you are greeted by a final scramble over rocks to reach the true top. Today, after I came down, there was a very attractive girl with a dog who started up the same way. I thought to ask her if she had ever been up that way before but didn't want her to get the wrong impression so just let her go. Mojave is a short hike, but challenging if one tackles the southbound wing. Fun stuff.

I didn’t realize most of this hike/trail was a wash but it’s a good little hike for little dogs. Lots of mountain bikers and tons of Cholla to watch for!

It’s a pretty Trail. The only downside was there were tons and tons of bees by the purple trees but we didn’t get stung lol we just ran right underneath each one. We also went right before sunset so not sure if it’s the time of day we chose to go because there were lots of nats also. The hieroglyphics at the end of the trail were cool and we did a little climbing up the stream since it was dry. It was totally worth it though to watch the sunset from up there!! Amazing amazing amazing view! Was a little nervous walking back in the dark but saw some deer, nothing scary haha.Definitely want to check out lost gold mine trail also which starts at the same trailhead. The backstory behind that was interesting.

This is one of my favorite to mtn bike. Hiking it is too easy unless you are taking slower hiker(s) out to overlook the city.
