Hiked this in August with a healing ankle sprain. Fairly easy with beautiful views. Highly recommended.

Definitely worth while - one of our favorites so far in Utah. We had a rental sedan - so we opted to pay for a shuttle from town. Saved time and worry of damaging the rental. There was a Camry (rental) at the trailhead - don’t know how they made it through a couple of the rough spots in the road. The hike itself was awesome. Go early on the weekend to avoid the crowd. Really appreciate the advise here on how to navigate the boulders on Spooky. Not sure we would have made it otherwise. We saw a small snake on the way back up to the trailhead - looked like a rattlesnake, did not get close enough to confirm.

This trail was very challenging because of how steep it was. There are lots of rocks and boulders, and you go over a couple of streams, walking on logs. Lots of shade, which was nice. Very good exercise, but I felt that the moderate rating should be more like moderate+, though I saw a lot of children on the trail.

Horses and dogs are allowed on the trail, so there is quite a bit of horse manure and the occasion dog pile you must avoid. We ended up not doing the entire trail, but instead turned off about half way up to go see the falls. That made the difficult hike worth it. Very beautiful and refreshing.

WARNING: When we reached the waterfall, we saw a young man lying at the base of it, badly hurt. He had fallen from the top of the waterfall (about 60+ feet). He had to be life-flighted out. I tried to get where he was, to help the others who were helping him, as I am trained in first aid/cpr, but the rocks were very, very slippery, even when dry. Please be careful if you venture to the actual falls.

All in all, a nice hike, especially if you want a good work out. The round trip from the falls is about 2.5-3 hours.

This place is amazing. Make sure not to hike in flip flops. I witnessed someone falling off the ladder because they did it in flip flops. This hike is kid friendly. The second ladder needs fixed. They charge you $8 to hike it and an additional $1 per hiker to process your card. So it's really $9....so dumb but the hikes worth it.

Great hike!

As others suggest, definitely do Peek-A-Boo to Spooky and take lots of water. And definitely download the topo so you have it offline on the hike.

We were intimidated by the climb at start of Peek-A-Boo ... you need to scale up about 12 feet of slick rock. We thought the adults could do it but weren't sure we could get the kids up (ages 8 and 9) so we went around and rejoined the trail as you go overland to Spooky. In retrospect we could should have brought a short rope or strap ... or sent an adult up first and used a daypack as a rope.

Even Spooky by itself was amazing the kids' favorite hike of the vacation. We are indebted to others on this site for telling us about the rock blockage and were able to do the full hike because of their advice. As said by Alan Ketelson below "About 1/3 way into Spooky, we came to some huge boulders the seem to block the way. If you look over the top of the you will be about 30 feet above the bottom but if you look underneath the left side of the biggest boulder, you’ll see a small hole that drops down to another small boulder. From there, it is a short drop to a large flat rock, then a few hundred feet of some pretty narrow slots." The adults jumped and spotted each other and handed the kids down. The slots get even tighter after this point -- we had to take off daypacks and hand them forward through tight spots in a chain but it is passable and wonderful. Not ideal if you get claustrophobic. If you get nervous, just keep going -- it's amazing!

Had a wonderful hike with our family. Park for free and pay $8 per person for entrance. We went up both ladders and continued beyond the area where groups gather to play in the pool and slide down the waterfall/rock slide. We went probably another 0.5 miles up the creek -- probably the most scenic parts of the slot canyons with vertical walls and amazing colors and we had it all to ourselves. The ladders were tricky but manageable -- we had an adult go up and down right below our youngest (8 and 9). The ladder steps were placed fairly widely so it helped to have someone close to help with foot placement. We were there mid-July and enjoyed the cool water -- everyone was fine in water sandals (e.g, Keens)

Loved this hike! So beautiful and peaceful!! Bring water shoes!! Water is cold but refreshing! Pretty slippery too! We trail ran on the way back! Very easy! I don’t know how people bring small kids to hold though, I needed both hands to hold myself up in rocks and getting up the ladder! Very nice to take your time and enjoy the stream and waterfall!

Awesome hike, not sure when it ends though.

Great hike to the falls. If you want to go further, it's nice, too. Fairly steep after the falls, but not hard.

It's steep, but the cave is beautiful. Great hike

I loved this hike!! It was great for me and my boys!! It was a good length and a mix of flat and a little steep!

Short hike but a really great one :-)

Our group ranged in age from 4 to 69, avid hikers to couch potatoes and everyone LOVED it!!! We all would do it again!

Lovely hike that's not too strenuous and not too easy. As usual the heat is a major factor.

We intended to do the loop clockwise but took a turn right and did it anticlockwise. Probably best to follow the trail on phone.

We didn't see or meet anyone until the very end. Great views.

This hike was amaze-inggg! It was a little harder than I thought it would be, but that might be because I went in the afternoon on a hot day. I loved the views, the water crossing and the lake at the end (definitely went swimming). I took my dog and his feet got hot in the darker dust, we had to take a lot of breaks and I carried him for a bit. I keep dreaming about it and plan to do it again!

great hike, did it with my 5 year old.

stop at the sweet spot for pan it and drinks.

fun hike, gorgeous lake and pretty flowers

It’s 1.5 miles straight up hill. No gradual rises but totally doable. Went with my sons 5th grade Fieldtrip and had a great time!

pretty lake!!

This was maybe one of the most fun hikes I’ve done to date!!

The view is amazing. Anyone that says differently is taking it for granted. Bring lots of water because it gets hot and it’s uphill the whole way up. Make reservations ahead of time and bring a jacket for the caves because it can get fairly cold inside the caves. Loved it!!

decent quick hike. hiked in, had lunch and enjoyed the falls. easy trail with a little elevation. saw toddlers having no issue.

Other worldly!

Fantastic hike, well worth the effort to get there. Took my 2 kids (10 & 14) and though they were tired going up, the lake was their favorite! Would definitely do this hike again. Make sure you bring 3+ liters of water! So many people on the trail today ran out while still high up. One gentleman was completely out of water on the upper switchbacks and nearly fell off a steep incline right in front of us! We were able to grab him in time, sit him down, give him some water, electrolytes and a fruit bar, and he was apparently okay, but they had no food and he looked to be in serious shock. Though a relatively short hike, it’s hot and strenuous at times. Loved it!

Very nice hike. The views are incredible. And to have the stream right along the trail was awesome! Will definitely do this hike again

good short hike and very nice falls.

Amazing!

I love this hike. So beautiful and a great escape from the heat. Amazing views and the best reward; silver lake.

Got an early start to this hike (around 7-8) and it was a little chilly. The first 1/3 of the hike is in a beautiful aspen forest. Couldn’t get enough of the foliage! The hike then opens up and you’re able to see some beautiful views of the back of timpanogos. After a short steep section to the top, we were rewarded with a view of the amazing lake. It was around 9 at that point but the lake was warm enough that I took a quick swim. Beautiful clear lake! As we descended it got really crowded so I suggest if you want to have this lake to yourself come early.
All in all one of my favorite hikes out there.
