Nice location near UNCC, Mallard Creek Church Rd parking lot is small and could fill up fast. Review photo for upcoming work that may shut portions in the next few weeks.

Fun hike! Went after a rain storm so the trail was super muddy but not very crowded. Under the rainy/muddy conditions, the trail was more of a moderate hike. Lots of rocks at the end just before the gorgeous falls!

It is pretty! We went on a Saturday so crowded and it rained, so really muddy! More on the moderate side than easy. Had toddler with us that couldn’t be carried up the last steep rocky portion to the falls. Had view though!

Beautiful scenic hike. Waterfall at top is gorgeous. Many areas of the trail were very muddy.

Wonderful!!!! Lots of falls, lots of shade. Easy hike and lots of places to stop and enjoy the water. Go up the ropes— you won’t regret it! Just stick nearest to the water once you’re up past marker 3 so you don’t get lost!

Great trail, beautiful waterfall, stairs were a little tough, only downside really was the amount of people—a LOT

Great trail. Easy for kids. Beautiful falls with lots of areas to get your feet wet or take a little dip. Very crowded. Will try to go during the week next time.

10/10 would hike again.

Great hike with beautiful views of the waterfalls.

One of our favorite hikes. It starts out from the paved parking area and moves right before the main bridge over the river. The path begins super easy as a flat path with fine, loose aggregate along the river with tons of paths to the water as well as a few slightly hidden viewing decks over the water (we saw a beautiful doe and fawn in the river from one of these overlooks yesterday). At one point the trail forks - stay left to stick to the river. It starts getting a little more difficult as you progress with rocks, tree roots and stone steps. There’s an area where it might be difficult for some - a rock slide from Hurricane Hugo in the late 80’s brought down slabs of granite and you have to traverse it to continue. Don’t worry! It’s not terrible. Just keep it in mind as it could be slick with the wrong shoes. As you get to the areas where you are getting closer to the falls you’ll cross the river on wooden bridges and almost all steep wooden steps or box steps filled with soil, to the falls and upper falls. Take it slow if you have bad knees because the hike is so worth it at the top. At the top of the falls you can come back the way you came if you want to stick to the river or continue on the loop back to the fork in the trail. The loop portion is all forest and fairly smooth hiking but it is uphill a good bit. The downhill is much appreciated. At one point there’s a natural spring trickling down beside the path. The only water you’ll see along that part. You’ll end back at the fork where you originally stayed left. The treck back to the parking lot is back on the same flat, fine aggregate path along the river. Enjoy this hike and take tons of pictures. It’s beautiful!

beautiful waterfalls. great hike!

I didn’t see the waterfall, but we took the long way up to the mtn top & it was moderate difficulty. Bathrooms, no shop. The ranger dude was super helpful & friendly. The walk was nice & shady, pretty view from the top. Several benches along the way to stop

Has a nice visitors center w/ a gift shop. Life size Lincoln logs area. Several picnic areas around the hike. Steep climb but has sturdy steps & structures to get you to the top of the waterfall

Great hike for the whole family! We have been twice and the hike to the top is awesome!

This is a very nice trail for everyone but it isnt a loop. it is mostly paved along the river. There are access points at both ends of the trail.
About a mile in is access to unpaived mountain bike trails I've never been on.
As a Pokemon Go fan I appreciate the fact that there are Pokestops at the beginning and one about a mile in as well as a gym about 3/4 mile in and tons of critters as I call them

Wonderful hike with our 2 dogs! We loved the swimming holes throughout the hike to let our dogs (and us) get our feet cooled off. Beautiful waterfall!! We hiked to the base of the falls and didn't climb the rocks to the upper falls.

I love this trail. I walk this after work so get in some relaxing nature time, and get in some exercise. The falls are beautiful, and relaxing. Everyone I’ve met is super nice. Plenty of shade, as well as sun at main waterfall. It gets semi steep at some points, especially if you hike up past the main waterfall area. There are ropes along the path past the waterfall to help you climb up, definitely some rock scrabbling involved.

Beautiful hike

love this trail. beautiful and secluded. have returned several times.

Great waterfall! Although the recent rainfall left the trail quite muddy, it was manageable. I would recommend wearing waterproof shoes as you need to ford a stream. The waterfall was impressive and a perfect pit stop on the way through Asheville.

Fun hike. The waterfall portion gets a little crowded, but views are amazing. Did not run into anybody on the HQ portion.

About as good as you can get. Easy walk in and out, and the falls are just beautiful. can't recommend this enough.

Fantastic hike! Great hike for our 6 years olds! Beautiful waterfall awaits you at the end!!

One of my favorite trails. Wide path, shady and in the woods, follows the river/creek, great for kids and dogs. Waterfalls and areas kids can get in and play safely are a wonderful payoff along the way!

Beautiful trail...loved seeing bear tracks! The falls were beautiful and I wouldn't call this necessarily easy! Much better to hike during the week than on the weekend when there is heavy traffic!

Very well kept, beautiful hike! i wouldn't say this is 'easy' as it's got some inclines children might find diffcult but it was nice! Also, it is well-traveled, go early if you want to find parking.

Depending on the way you decide to go on the loop from the crossroads go left for a strenuous stair case going up right beside the whole water fall or go right to climb 3/4 foot high natural staircases. it's a good hike bring plenty of water and be prepared to get exhausted. when you reach the top of the falls you are met with a stunning view of the falls.

For the most part, it’s an easy trail with a few steep incline hills
