A short, easy hike to some beautiful waterfalls. We especially enjoyed Tumalo Falls, in that you can actually go to the bottom of it and stand behind it! We went today with some crowds but everyone was courteous for picture taking and being patient along the narrow trail down to the base of the falls. As long as you can tolerate some other folks around you, this is a great waterfall to visit.

Road is open and some snow on parts of trail. Extremely muddy in the meadow. Wildflowers are just starting to bloom.

We started at the fish hatchery and walked towards the trailhead and back again. Total of 5 miles. It was amazing!

A lot of bang for your buck. Short, easy, with fantastic waterfalls. You can see three different falls by going roughly 1.5 miles past the main Tumalo viewpoint. Be sure to follow the mini trail to the bottom of Tumalo Falls as well.

Nice easy trail. Beautiful views.

Yeah it’s an easy walk around and it can be crowded but, come on, it’s beautiful and you can swim. But if you want to add some spice bushwhack up the ridge at the far end of the lake. It a hard climb but worth it. At the top turn left and go just about as far as you can. You will be rewarded by the most breathtaking views of Broken Top and S Sister ever. Then a quick trip down (you can’t miss the lake) and you earned your swim. The hike up and down is steep so you flip flops are not going to cut it. Be prepared.

Worth the walk!

I mean for a city trail, it’s amazing, clean, hills, good scenery.

Pretty walk under trees and along the river (try your luck with poles and rodes with artificial lures). *There is another parking lot closer to the falls.

Falls are more what I consider class 4 - 5 rapids. I was a bit disappointed. It was also hard to find a good place to take pictures.

The distance is off on this app. This trail(paved) from the parking spot on East Cascade was 1.5 miles to the walking bridge. we locked up our cruisers there and walked(dirt) another .5 mile to the falls. we could have stayed on our bikes, but it was nice to give our bums a rest. The falls were not a typical fairytale waterfalls. they were more like a gushing angry whitewater. Impressive in their own way. A nice outing from Sunriver.

Bring the whole fam for this one! Mee-Maw and Pop-Pops? They can nail this utterly flat 1.7mi. LIttle cousin Timmy? He won't even need coddling or an extra juicebox to complete this tourist-laden lakeside loop. And fat Aunt Sharon? She'll recall days of yore when it was just "Shari" as she mobs around this short loop like the spritely cross-country runner she was back in college.

It's flat, dead-easy, and on weekends the parking lot is a circuis. Is Multnomah Falls your jam? Cool. Then so is the Tood Lake Loop Trail.

But maybe when at Multnomah Falls you're all "eff this." Maybe you tend more towards the 16mi Larch Mountain trail up and out of M. Falls? If so, then check out the 15-17 mellow miles of the Todd Lake/Soda Creek/Brokentop Trail that ends above the ridge at No Name Lake. It starts here and, well, "it good."

But if you're into kids, tourists, dogs, and "RV people," well, then the Todd Lake Loop Trail may be your Valhalla.

Took the single track out and back to benham. Great for a 12 yr old first time single track rider and adults looking for a easy dirt trail.

Beautiful waterfalls!!

First several miles were through burned out forest the upper Chush Falls made it worth the hike.

Great hike but hit it early to avoid congestion.

Great hike around a beautiful clear lake. A bit rocky around the back side in bits but very doable. Definitely longer than 5 miles stated on the app. We clocked around 6.5 miles.

We went on this hike in February. It was chilly and we only ran into a couple other groups. Beautiful area, a short hike to the waterfall. You can enjoy this in just a couple hours.

Beautiful hike. Easy trail not too much of a climb. No issues find the trail head. Incredible waterfall view if you climb down the hill.

Easy and beautiful hike around the lake. Bring layers - when the wind picks up it can be chilly in the shade even on a day that is hot at lower altitude. Given that, it is a great place to go to get a break from the heat.

Lovely area - long drive in for a short trail though. We took a lot of time to explore the area with the kids. Perfect length for youngers (or orders) who can’t travel as far but enjoy a destination.

Nice quick day hike. The falls are only about 0.5 miles from trail head. We went just beyond the endpoint indicated on this site. I think you could go further but trail started getting overgrown. The second half of hike is mostly exposed, so be aware in warmer days.

A comment on a previous post that likened the difficulty to Everest. Not. At. All. I wore some worn out slick bottom running shoes (traveling) and had no problem on the trail. Saw no BIG steps. The trail splits at times, with some skirting the edge, the others staying up high. Just pick your lines and choose the hike you want. NBD. As we returned people were coming down the trail in street clothes and flip flops. That’s the difficulty level.

The falls is great. I actually enjoyed the 2nd falls better if you take the hike past Tumalo Falls.

Great hike. Our 20 month old was able to walk around. The views are awesome and the lake is worth going.

Great short hike to impressive falls. No trouble following the trail and no sense of it being too narrow or dangerous as other posts implied. The color of the water is an amazing complement to the surrounding rock. Several people were jumping from the rocks into the pool below the falls. Looked like fun.

This was a nice trail, we started at Tumalo Creek trail and arrived st the visitors parking area to a great view of falls from a distance. I was tired but wanted to get closer and possibly underneath but didn’t do it. Hopefully before we leave I’d like to get to the visitor area on top of falls!

This is a fantastic 3mile round trip hike. It is beautiful all along the trail and you are rewarded with several spots to view the fabulous deschutes rapids. If you are hiking, be mindful of mountain bikers on the trail, as this is a popular spot for biking as well.

The trail is easy walking and there is a pit stop right before heading towards the falls. Perfect for a break or a spot to eat lunch or a snack.

Enjoy this amazing hike and all the beauty Central Oregon has to offer.

The loop is more like 5.5 miles

Read the reviews about the directions. Other than that the hike was beautiful!!! Wasn’t too busy on a Saturday around noon. Though i would suggest bringing or applying bug spray prior.

Fantastic hike, you can walk almost directly underneath the waterfall!

Great views, if you are lucky there are raspberries to pick on the side of the trail.
