For the people who hiked it in the last week, is it muddy from all the rain?

Wow, this place is amazing. I hadn't hiked in months so this trail was a bit painful for me but also I got there at 3:30 and the trail closed at 5 bc of sunset. So I had to rush up the trail in 30 minutes. But man was it worth it. The waterfall is stunning for sure but the whole trail is beautiful up and down through valleys with creeks and little openings to see the mountain ranges. There are a few spots were at steep inclines the trains is a little eroded but nothing to hard to pass. At top the falls are breathtaking. Rocks super algi covered so watch your step. Got there right as the sun was passing over the trees before sun set. The color was incredible. Even being a 4 mile round trip it wasn't bad at all. Can be made as a family or Individual. Also the drive up to there is full of beauty. Go!

Hiked on a good weather weather Saturday and the trail was crowded. But the views and terrain were worth it. Was harder than I expected. A lot of elevation gain in 3 miles.

Love this trail. Our family has been up and down a couple of times and will be back. Views are great and trail is difficult enough to make it a great half day climb.

Easy, short hike to pretty waterfalls. Low effort, high yield. Large parking lot right at the trail head. Way too crowded on a weekend though, I passed seriously no less than a hundred people coming and going. Very muddy as well because of recent rains. If you’re coming to Asheville from the east this would be a great pit stop (a couple miles off I-40) but I otherwise wouldn’t go out of my way to hike it again.

Nice easy walk through the woods. Trails were in good condition and well marked. It was wet and a little sloppy in places. My 9 year old had no problems and I managed carrying a 3 year old in a pack.

By far one of my all time favorite trails. The diversity you get on this hike is amazing. Whether you choose left or right to take the loop, you’re going to get a workout/be challenged. There are waterfall views, mountainside views, a suspension bridge, ladders and creek crossings. By the time I got to the end of my hike (the Dismal trail) I was definitely beat and the mountain seemed to go on forever but it was so worth it. I went late November .... most of the leaves were gone but the ones left made for some beautiful scenery and lighting as the sun goes down a lot earlier in the late fall/winter. A must do trail hike with plenty of challenge. Very well marked trail heads and a trail guide/map at each intersection or beginning of the next trail to avoid getting lost or confused.

Excellent hike! Went up the main trail to the lookout, went down the Backside trail on the way back. (Mainly due to my legs being pretty much shot. Haha)
Was just a beautiful sight when you get there, definitely worth the effort!!

Great trail for families and fairly easy for older hikers. I’m 59 and had no problems. I even traversed down to the river for a photo opportunity.

Not as steep as I thought it was gonna be based on other people's reviews. Signage is good. Not quite as scenic as Pinnacle Mountain trail. I can't imagine how great this area looks when the fall colors are peaking...

Beautiful hike along the river with countless smaller falls. Lots to explore. Very wet so the hiking poles were a big help, but the water made the fall extra amazing! Don’t miss this one!

Amazing hike. Not an easy one-but I loved it for that. If you are looking for a challenging hike-this will be the one. Loved this one.

The Raven Falls loop is excellent. We took the advice from the previous reviews and hiked it clockwise. What great advice! It allows you to have the hardest hike behind you when you reach the suspension bridge. After the bridge you end up taking Gum Gap which is an easy trail to recover on. Total distance from the trailhead and back was 7.5 miles and took us 3 hrs with stopping and taking lots of pictures.
Overall, this was a wonderful hike. However, this loop should only be hiked by folks in reasonably good shape or you will not enjoy yourself at all.
There were three or four ladders that would present a challenge for large dogs. All but one is fairly short and would allow easy portage of your pet.

Great for your guests. Amazing view.

Don't take a dog that you can't get up a ladder. But this is a great hike.

This trail is definitely strenuous and NOT dog friendly. Badass trail, though. It took me 4.5 hours and I was exhausted by the end.

This trail was more challenging than I expected it to be! I was naively assuming South Carolina mountains were probably all babies, but this trail is pretty steep pretty much the whole way up. There were plenty of steps that were quite a stretch for my short legs.

The view at the top is great, but I thought the scenic spot a few hundred yards before table rock itself actually had the prettiest views, so be sure not to brush it off just because you’re nearly to the end.

As other people have pointed out no bathrooms along the way and lots of people around the entire time, but with the amount you’ll sweat you probably won’t need a bathroom break.

Be sure to bring LOTS of water! I had 2 20oz bottles and I wished I had more. Also make sure to check in and out in the office before you start and leave.

There were a few spots that were a bit slippery with sand, so wear good shoes.

Great hike with some amazing views, highly recommend! Trail is very well kept and easy to follow. Governors Rock is a false summit since there is no real views from the actual summit, nonetheless there is quite a few lookout spots along the trail so theres still a ton of breath taking views. Major downfall is the park is high tourist area (ironic being i was a tourist lol) so you can guarantee on the trail being busy.

Beautiful waterfall. Lots of rocks and roots along the path and a little crowded but it was a weekend! Overall very nice hike!

Running and jumping through the rock structures is a blast! Views from the cliffs are pretty incredible for the area. The tower took away from the natural beauty a bit but overall it was decent hike.

Super easy trail with an amazing water fall. Avoid this trail on the weekends as it can be extremely crowded. Quick hike with a rewarding view.

Worth the hike. Easy trail and beautiful views. The way in is an upward climb and seemed more moderate to me because I was carrying my toddler in a pack all the way up, so I’m sure it’s much easier than it felt

The river crossings were more challenging than expected but the waterfall was certainly worth the wet feet. You definitely need proper hiking boots trying to walk across the river rocks and maybe an extra pair of dry socks.

Beautiful trail and easy to navigate. Definitely worth going the whole way up to the falls. We brought our dogs and they loved it.

Your workout for the week. Not a casual hike. We hiked the shortest, steepest trail up to the Mount LeConte summit in TN. That was a walk in the park compared to this. I gave it 4 stars, though, be cause it challenges you and there are great views.

Good exercise, beautiful view!

AWESOME HIKE! I'm not big on waterfalls but this one is WORTH IT! There are several waterfalls along the trail but the one at the end of the trial is a beauty.

good hike with short but challenging parts to get close to the falls, several bolted top rope and sport climbing routes!

My 15 year old son and I hiked the Pinnacle Trail to the Ridge Trail, and connected back to the Table Rock Trail all the way to the overlook. We did this Saturday, November 2, 2018. The weather was perfect, but everybody and their brother was there making it pretty crowded at the overlook and on the way down (we took the Table Rock Trail back down). We started at 10:30am and arrived back to the parking lot at 4:40pm. We spent about 15 minutes enjoying the overlook. We hiked this same route when my son was 11. We just can’t work up the nerve to take the Table Rock Trail up, because it is very steep ALL THE WAY. We plan to come back many more times, but will probably come on a weekday from now on, due to the crowds. I would advise taking some good snacks and plenty of water. My only complaint is there are no places to pee if you’re a female, but I do believe porta potties here and there would ruin the experience! LOL
