want to hike Map

Great trail but please hikers...pick up after your dogs!

The parking lot was not plowed so we parked on the road (it was not a big deal since it was a quite area). The trail was short, 2km, so we did it twice. We really enjoyed it and I would go back to explore it again and other trails nearby. Some locals we talked to said there were longer trails just east of this location.

Great spot

Very easy walk. Pines and a lake view half way.

Done first 10.3 km from the beggining. There was a huge sunflower field at the corner from Lyle Rd., which must be beautiful during summer. Passing through the horse farm, and a lot of ups and downs along the river. Fairly fun to go through variety of scenery and hills.

peaceful hike we took the walk out to the lookout which is a beautiful view

are horses allowed on this trail?

Great trails with a very nice creek for the dogs.

Can't help but love this trail because on May 6th my boyfriend proposed while we were hiking it. There are benches along the way and the scenery is beautiful. While there is wasn't very busy and felt private. I will remember this trail for the rest of my life.

Fine if you live near by and want a daily walk...otherwise blah...didn't expect much - it is Strathroy after all.

Wonderful trail, just a bit short

Trail was not as good as I remembered it. I hadn't been here in at least 10 years. The main trail was very muddy but very wide. I could not get over how busy it was for a weekday on a cold march day! This is the most tagged forest I've ever seen with most of the trees on the main trail carved into by young lovers. I found it fascinating to look at the dates on the trees and see what a tradition that this has become. The main maple bush had a lot more deadfall in it that I'm used to seeing.

Nice trail but the trail led us into a Beach Boys tribute concert on the far side on the lake . We were dressed in full trail combats , certainly not concert attire . Needless to say there were a couple unhappy campers , literally . We'll check the concert listings next time . K

I agree this is a must for walkers and hikers . I thought a little short for backpacking but would have been more leisurely in the autumn . We went in the summer and got eaten alive . We dress in full fatigues so ticks aren't a concern for us but shorts maybe questionable attire here . We will revisit this gem in the fall , cheers . K

A good trail for hiking, running and mountain biking

A very nice trail. But quite short.
Looks like a wonderful place for a Picnic.

It was an awesome hike once we found the trail. The online maps were fairly off and there was huge gap between the blazes at the beginning (Port Stanley). We spent about an hour and a half just looking for the starting point (we later found that there are trail maps in Mackie's). Otherwise, we hiked the first 10km and it was great!

Overgrown throughout. Worried for our dogs with respect to ticks.

Great easy short 7km ride. Couple of short hills and great views along the way.

Great length of trails. They get muddy quite easily though. Good place to bring your dog for some free range running, as long as you and your dog are responsible. Most people we've encountered are ok with us having our dog off leash since she is very friendly, well trained, and won't run up to anyone unless we let her. If you're going to go off leash please be respectful and responsible with the privilege, and don't ruin it for everyone else! Biggest downfall of this place is the camp sites you have to pass to get to the main trail system; just takes away from the outdoorsy feel lol

Nice trail has some overgrown spots through it and needs some major clean-up in sections as parts of the trail are under construction or closed off completely
