What a hike!
Beautiful drive to the trailhead; well maintained roads and no snow.
The trail is very well maintained and has multiple outhouses throughout the trail to the the lake, as well as some at the lake in the Campground areas.
There was no snow at the beginning of the hike, but it didn't take long before we hit snow. The snow was dry and crunchy so it was not too slippery on the way up, I did use (and highly recommend) microspikes on the way down.
It is a decent climb up, definitely gave my legs a good workout! We started on the trail around 930am and made it to the lake camping area right around 1230/1240pm. Had a quick snack and some tea in the shelters (so cool that they have these!!) before heading back down. We hustled back down in 2 hours (thanks microspikes!).
The lake was absolutely beautiful and the blanket of snow made everything feel quiet and peaceful. I will definitely do this one again!

Left the lake at about noon on Sunday. There is about a foot of snow at the lake and about as much at Taylor meadows. The trail is clear from rubble creek up until about the 4 or 5 km mark. After that it’s pretty well packed snow. Can be a little slippery so boots with good tread or spikes are a good idea if you want to make it all the way to the lake.

My wife and I went up last week. Absolutely stunning views at the top. The first few km’s are pretty boring until you hit the real trail. It gets steep from here to the top.
Moving pretty quickly we got up in 2hrs and 20mins.

Went up the majority of this trail yesterday. Had to turn around just before the scramble section because of snow and ice.
Beautiful trail that really works the legs out on the way up and down.
5 hours return trip with a short break at the top for a bite to eat

Great trail - we were not expecting the trail to be so well maintained. There’s a couple outhouse bathrooms along the way. The lake at the end was stunning. Just a little bit of frost and ice on a couple parts of the trail today but no big deal at all.

Absolutely gorgeous. Constant elevation so packs were a little grueling but well worth the reward

November 9th, 2018.
There was light snow starting at 7km into this hike, I made it to 9km and turned back as visibility had gotten to the point where I no longer felt safe to continue.
To the 9km mark and back to the Parking lot took me 7.5 hours

The snow will slow you down, and winter park hours may make this hike not possible unless staying the night.

Hike on

Great hike overall. We encountered some light snow patches just past the 6km mark, making it a bit muddy on the way down.
The lake is amazing with a great view of the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Camping facilities are ok, with outhouses, cooking shelters and bear caches for storing food. Awesome experience!

Loved it. Nicely-built trail winds up to hugely rewarding views at the top. Spend some time on the peak.

I've ran the trail today and it was really nice. We didn't encounter any wild life. On the summit it was really cold and windy. So much that I did not feel my fingers (didn't have gloves).

We ran majority of the trail except the steepest parts.

It was a great workout and it was great to go away from all the noise of the city. I really enjoyed it.

Amazing hike! Could present a challenge for novice hikers. Bring plenty of water and a snack to eat at the lake. You can camp on designated areas and swimming in the lake is allowed. If you plan on fishing make sure you have a license and follow regulations. Bringing an inflatable raft is recommended since the fish are not close to the shore. Apparently open 24/7 and all year round.

Be aware of the park winter hours; 8am to 5:30m pm. Park gates are closed at 5:30pm and you'll be locked in if not out before then, so plan accordingly. We got to the trail head at 8:30am. Oct 13th. Some reviewers say this is a dull hike until reaching the top, but we found it beautiful. Gorgeous fall foliage and an abundance of interesting looking autumn fungi. At one point it seems you are hiking up a dry creek bed and the rocks in it would easily twist an ankle if you misplace a step. Be aware that there are numerous spots where the trail intersects other trails, best have a downloaded map to reference. Trail switches between wide gravel pathways to rocky, root filled forest and a few steeper inclines, but it's not all that difficult, just long. Once you reach the first pond it starts to look more alpine. The second tiny pond near the summit may not be there all year? Neither are the type you'd want to swim in or drink from. At the summit you get a super close view of Blanshard Needle, and great views of the valley below and mountain ranges to the northwest. There are plenty of nice spots on the alpine rocks to sit and have lunch while enjoying the vistas. We took our time going up, had lunch and explored the summit. Started back down at 2pm and made it to the car by 5pm.

Most amazing hike I’ve ever done but much harder than described. Took us 7 hours to do and the entire way up is basically very steep incline switchbacks but 100% worth the view. Out of all the hikes in the Vancouver area I would recommend this the most.

Great reward at the top! Constant up but not difficult.

Did this today. It’s a moderately hard hike. It took just under 4 hours including stops and going at a moderate pace. Beautiful views. This hike has signage most of the way. You can go around dam mountain and around little goat. Add time if you include these smaller peaks on the way. Chains for the final ascent are helpful it’s closer to 8km from the chalet and back. Not the 6km mentioned. The 13km is if you hike up the grouse grind or bcmc first.

This was a wonderful hike!!

Just hiked it again today on a clear day and finally got the views. Just amazing up at the peak! Love this hike! Car to peak in 4 hours and 40 mins, peak to car in 4 hours. Will definitely do again next year

Super steep hike! I recommend poles for the way down to save your knees (and keep you from tumbling down the mountain!).
Around a third to half of the way in there is a beautiful view point that's perfect for a lunch break.
The trail sikes you out a few times as there are a lot of great viewpoints where you think you have reached the end but you need to keep going up the ridge to summit Harvey! Highly recommend checking your gps to make sure you get all the way up. Quite a bit of scrambling/climbing needed.
Also, bring layers as the weather changes rapidly and can get quite cold.
Trail had awesome views of Howe Sound and the Lions if it's not too cloudy.

Great hike. Near the summit there are 35-45 degree rocks to climb, kind of sketchy when wet.

Challenging, but awesome hike! I hiked it once last year and then again on July 13th of this year in one very long day. I don't recommend rushing this hike. It's so beautiful at the top. Take your time and soak it all in. I am planning on hiking it again by myself this coming Thursday (Sept. 13th) if anyone would like to join me.
